Detroit mayor pleads guilty in sex scandal, quits

DETROIT (AP) -- Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was bounced from office Thursday in a deal with prosecutors that will send him to jail and put an end to the sex scandal that embarrassed this chronically struggling city and preoccupied its government for months.

The 38-year-old "Hip-Hop Mayor" who brought energy and excitement to City Hall when he took office in 2002 pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice and will get four months behind bars.

The Democrat will also pay a $1 million fine and lose his license to practice law, and cannot run for any elected office for five years. His resignation will take effect in two weeks.

I guess for the mainstream press who covered this (the AP) phrases like "energy" and "excitement" are the new buzzwords for crime and corruption, and the colorful, happy title of "Hip-Hop Mayor" another moniker for "gangland thug".
I hope the people of Detroit and Michigan are proud of their ultra-left governmental bureaucracies and democrat shills that have them by the throat!
I understand the dim dem gov and legislature is working at getting the state revenue up again by (you guessed it) raising taxes! Oh yeah that'll help!
Will the last hard-working folks leaving Michigan please turn out the lights! (smaller carbon footprint you know)
