Democrats and the left generally can no more accept a Sarah Palin vice presidency than they could Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court justice. They can no more accept a conservative woman a heartbeat away from the presidency than they can a conservative African-American interpreting the nation's laws. Expect the long knives to be out, and stay out.

Since the Clarence Thomas nomination fight in 1991, conservatives and fair-minded Americans have learned a bitter lesson: for liberals, it isn't about promoting the advancement of all African-Americans, but only those in step with their ideology and aims. The same can be said of women. Liberals believe they own the franchise, and it doesn't allow for baby-making, gun-friendly, God-fearing women, who, not incidentally, fight for lower taxes, smaller government and a strong national defense. They certainly can't be Republicans.

With her confidence and poise, Governor Palin will be her own best advocate. But with the onslaught of criticism headed her way, with the game of "gotcha" that the Democrats and the media will play with cunning and relentlessly, she can't be expected to fight the good fight alone. And it isn't enough for the GOP and the McCain campaign to cover her back.

Conservatives from all quarters will need to answer the bell. To defeat attempts by the left and their handmaidens in the media to destroy the Governor's character, the conservative response will need to be swift, sure and unflagging. Conservatives will need to be smart and creative in the ways of getting their arguments and messages to average voters.

And this is the point that I intended to make, but Smith does it far better than I could. I would only add that we have to draw a line now. Enough Borks. Enough Clarence Thomases although he survived the onslaught. Everyone who considers themselves advocates of decency and justice must meet the attacks on Sarah Palin with the weapon that always prevails: The truth.

Considering the depths to which some of the Liberal bloggers have descended in their criticism, after only 48 hours of Sarah Palin's being chosen ( she has not yet been nominated, since the GOP Convention is pending) it certainly appears that the Left has been shaken to its core. Why the instant anger, and furious attempt to smear her even before the campaign is officially underway? Simply because they cannot endure the fact that the GOP has a winning team, while the Dumbo-crats are offering a wannabe and a has-been.

And doesn't an attack on Palin's motherhood conflicting with her work life contradict longstanding feminist claims about women pursuing both?

If the dumos want to attack Palin and motherhood and whether she can handle the job of VP and being a mother, she has already proven she can do both. The dumos will really tick off the real people of this country by attacking her. The left liberals will not shed a tear over the attack, but we know that already. I am sure Sarah Palin is ready for all of this. Very smart lady and she is a fighter. It is like the phrase Don't Mess with Texas, but DON'T MESS WITH SARAH either.

I think the most disgusting thing I have heard so far is about her baby. The liberals are saying that the baby is actually her granddaughter.
They are trying to paint a cover up of an illegitimate birth by her daughter. The liberals have no morals, class or compassion.
One thing Obama will never have to worry about is having a daughter give birth to an illegitimate baby. You can be sure it would be aborted.

yeah, ma has cnn on and they have been hammering on that all day long. trig is her grand baby rather than her son, blah blah blah. what other lies has she told, then they started on that ex-brother in law of hers that she supposedly had fired. just trying to get some dirt to dig up on her to take her out of the picture because they know they have been beaten already if they can't get rid of her.
