Waiting game for McCain veep
By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press
August 28, 2008
DENVER (AP) -- John McCain's potential running mates were in what amounted to a high-stakes waiting game Wednesday as the Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting prepared to announce his running mate in the coming days.
The two believed to be under the most serious consideration, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney used humor to dodge repeated questions.
"I'm going to be vice president ... of my fantasy football league," Pawlenty joked at the Minnesota State Fair.

The announcement will be made tomorrow at 11 am and the media will spend today trying to figure it out ahead of time.

The Drudge Report is stating the name may leak at 6:00 pm today. Politico.com says Lieberman has been asked to provide additional info and that Republican operatives have been told to prepare for the possibility of an "unconventional pick".

If it's Lieberman I will be in a quandary over what to do. It's bad enough I was going to hold my nose and vote McCain, but with Lieberman, I just don't know if I could endorse that.

Re: Waiting game for McCain veep
Maybe Lieberman's name is out there to "scare us." Personally, it's all a smoke-screen. McCain knows who he picked; so does the VP choice. They're trying to milk it as long as possible.
Here's the link to the Drudge Report:

I am thinking that it may even be Tom Ridge. My dad (a stout Democrat) said that he would vote for McCain should he pick Ridge. According to Townhall.com,

Former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, too, was still a possibility, as was the idea that McCain would choose a dark horse from any number of names that have circulated....Said McCain, in the interview with KDKA NewsRadio in Pittsburgh that was taped Wednesday: "I haven't decided yet so I can't tell you." McCain, who spoke with the radio station from his home in Arizona, has told people that he would make no final decision until after he talks with his wife, Cindy. She has been in the country of Georgia this week and had been expected to return late Wednesday....In the radio interview, McCain said that he was bringing along to the Pennsylvania event on Saturday both Ridge an Romney. But he cautioned against assuming that meant either one would be the pick.

If they really are going to leak this just before Obama's speech it has to be a bombshell.
Surely, they won't send out Tom Ridge or Kay Bailey Hutchison's name. It would be like letting the air out of a balloon.
So, I've thought either this isn't true at all or it will be a very big name.
But who knows what John McCain may do. He's disappointed me a lot of times over the years.

The more I think about Lieberman, the crazier it seems to me.
Think of the visual.
Maybe we could get a reduced rate on wheelchairs and canes.

Romney Family Gets Security Sweep

Quote:
If security sweeps are the giveaway, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney may be on the brink of being selected as Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) vice presidential running mate.
According to sources with strong Michigan ties, the Secret Service has conducted a security sweep of the home of Romney’s sister. Romney was raised in Michigan, where his father served as governor.
However, one campaign operative familiar with the working of a presidential-level campaign cautioned that a sweep of such a location could have been conducted in advance of Romney appearing as a surrogate — not the vice presidential nominee — at an upcoming McCain campaign stop in Michigan.

And there is this....

McCain says no vice presidential decision yet
By LIZ SIDOTI
Associated Press Writer
DENVER (AP) -- Looking toward his turn in the spotlight, Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting John McCain sought to siphon attention from Democrat Barack Obama's show in Denver by playing coy about his pick for vice president.
McCain is widely expected to name his running mate in the coming days, possibly Friday, but said in an interview aired Thursday that he still hadn't made up his mind. Far from quieting speculation, this seemed only to fuel it.

Re: Waiting game for McCain veep
Terri, you're absolutely right-who knows WHAT he will do. He's surely disappointed many conservative people in the past. Please, God, let him pick a true conservative for this VP position.
I'm afraid.
