Giuliani to give keynote at GOP convention

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will give the keynote address at the Republican National Convention next month and Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Joe Lieberman also will take center stage at the GOP gathering.

John McCain's vanquished Republican primary rivals -- and a slew of potential McCain running mates -- also have speaking roles at the four-day gathering in St. Paul, Minn.

President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, first lady Laura Bush, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Lieberman, who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000 and is said to be under consideration for the same role with McCain, will open the convention on Monday, Sept. 1, with speeches that focus on service.

I just hope McCain does not nominate Lieberman (in reality he is a democrat) or Schwarzenegger (he is a lousy governor - and we sure do not need him as Vice-President - besides doesn't he have to be a natural born citizen to be considered for the VP position?)

This sounds like a real yawner lineup. Get Zell Miller back. He's the most electrifying speaker most of us will ever have the privilege of hearing.

The rest are a collection of RINOs with the exception of Dick Cheney. We'll hear lots of drivel about 'compassionate conservatism' and deferences to the global warming hoax.

Leiberman is more of a Republican than Giuliani is.

According to his own statement, Joe Lieberman IS and always WILL BE a Democrat. Friendship doesn't count in the Political arena.

Lieberman had the unhappy experience of being tossed aside by his own party (including his "neighbors", Schumer & Clinton), but rallied to win as an Independent. Nevertheless, he still votes with the Democrats in the Senate.

Apparently there are no conservative republicans in politics anymore who can articulate what used to be the conservative message. I guess, politically speaking, republicans are all Limply Grahms - rinos.

Leiberman is more of a Republican than Giuliani is.

Incorrect.

Lieberman is very liberal on every issue, fiscal, law and order, every one, EXCEPT defense, particularly where the Middle East is concerned.

Rudy is strong is several areas where Lieberman is not.

That said, we're talking about speeches, not VPs, at least I hope so.
