Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
By David Limbaugh
August 19, 2008
I hate to rain on John McCain's parade right after he trounced Barack Obama at Rick Warren's Saddleback Church forum, for which I heartily applaud him, but McCain's trial balloon consideration of a pro-choice running mate demands a response.
The prospect of an Obama presidency is so horrifying that many conservatives have temporarily put aside their misgivings about McCain to focus on defeating Obama.
They hold their noses on McCain's immigration record, his campaign finance reform zealotry and his newfound acquiescence to the propaganda narrative of environmental extremists. But they are profoundly appreciative of his tougher stance against tax increases and mindful of his undeniable superiority over Obama on foreign policy and national defense. Recent world events, including Russia's naked aggression against Georgia, magnify this already-glaring contrast.

I don't think this will happen but you can share your opinion with the McCain campaign here.

Re: Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
I am 68 years old and have voted in every presidential election since I was eligible which was 21 back then. I have notified the McCain campaign by phone of this fact and if he chooses a pro abortion, pro death candidate for VP, I will either go third party or just refrain from voting for the first time in my life.
McCain can not be very strong on the right to life if he is willing to put political expediency above principal. This is the one issue for which there is no room for compromise.

Re: Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
In a continued effort by Senator McCain to derail his own election, I would add some cabinet selections that could solidify his efforts:
Howard Dean: Surgeon General
Nancy Pelosi: Secretary of Defense
Obama's Grandmother: Secretary of State
These selections, along with a pro-choice VP, should help the Senator become a footnote in history as being his own worst enemy.

Re: Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
I would not consider myself a single issue voter. National Defense, Border Security, Taxes, and Abortion are some of the issues which I pay attention to. There are others.
If Mr McCain chooses a pro-abortion VP candidate I will not be happy but I would still vote for McCain over Obama. On the other hand, I do know some people who would either stay home on election day or vote for a third party which in effect would be a vote for the Jackass Party.
If anything, Mr McCain should consider that his voting record is already adequately to the left and that he should choose a VP who tends to vote to the Right.
Hopefully, Mr McCain will take a look at Duncan Hunter.

Memo to all who think that Obama would be a disaster as a President:
Grab your rope, pull your heads out of your butts and vote for McCain. He became the candidate because the GOP fell asleep at the wheel. Elect him and then get off your duffs and fix the party. Seek out the promising young consevatives and begin the process of choosing the 2012 candidate today, not 2 or 3 years from now.
Those that will vote 3rd party or not at all are casting a vote for BHO.

I cannot agree more with both David Limbaugh and his illustrious and famous brother, Rush Limbaugh who are warning the McCain campaign if he has the temerity to choose a pro-choice running mate for VP, he will guarantee the election of Barak Obama. McCain as much as Obama will be morally responsible for the deaths of literally millions of our pre-born fellow citizens because he disregarded the warnings of the Limbaugh brothers as well as the warnings of, I hope, many, many, registered Republican voters who have called, emailed and written the McCain campaingn warning him that they will not support or vote for the Republican Ticket this November. I positively guarantee you that I will never never vote for a philosophically divided ticket and will urge all that I know not to vote for a candidate who might betray his pro-life and conservative base. I sincerely pray to God that enough of us have made our opinins known to the McCain campaign so that they acknowledge such a decision is indeed political suicide and an absolute betrayal of his pro-life position and voting record and literally a no-win position for him and the Republican Party. May McCain repudiate such a consideration and select a true pro-life and conservative candidate that we can support and vote for this November. We all will know on Friday, August 29 when we finally learn if John McCain is truly our pro-life candidate.

Playing devil's advocate here because I really don't think McCain will choose a pro-abortion VP, but just for giggles...WHAT IF .... it's Rudy Giuliani?

Re: Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
Just when I began to get over McCains backstabbing on the incumbents bill of rights he took another swipe with his gang of 14 and illegal amnesty. Why would I not be surprised if he gets out the knife again with a pro-choice VP? Will I still vote for him? Yeah, he's still better than the alternative candidate.
His campaign made the mistake of opining where conservatives would have go in November except to McCain, and we actually may have to vote for the Senator - what we DON'T have to do is give our hard earned cash to fund his election....... and there it is....

I pray that the Republican party will cease shooting itself in the foot. I agree with Patrick,
we need to get started now for 2012 regardless of who wins in November. We need to flood congress with conservatives and hold true too conservative values.

Re: Pro-Choice McCain Veep Equals Political Suicide
Agreed Gumbi.............yo u just wrote what I have been thinking in the interminable time it has taken in this Presidential campaign.
I am, quite frankly, sick of the sight and sound of both candidates and don't listen to anything they have to say. Sure, I hear about it and read about it but my mind has been made up since the nominations were "sewn up". I have given money to candidates in the past and to The Republican Party. Not this year......not one red cent. I don't take any of their calls, I think they are well aware of how irritated the electorate is with the candidate they have foisted upon us. I will vote for John McCain but that is the only support they will get from me!
As for the pick of the veep, a conservative black woman would go a long way toward sabotaging BOs campaign. There was an imminently qualified judge (black and female) who was "savaged" by the Democrats when she was proposed for position on the federal bench, simply because she got where she is today without any assistance from Democrats.
