The 'Fairness' Doctrine: America In The Balance
By Christopher G. Adamo
July 24, 2008
Lurking in the gloom of the Democrat agenda is a resuscitation of the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," which would allow the federal government, at the behest of liberal special interests, to selectively harass and intimidate radio stations whose broadcasting format it finds objectionable. Thus, the proliferation of conservative talk-radio and virtually all of the alternative media would be threatened with eventual extinction.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is unquestionably moving in such a direction once again. In only the past few weeks, she has castigated what she terms "right wing hate-radio," while refusing to allow even for congressional floor debate on a measure that would ensure political discourse on the radio, like all other forms of public dialogue, is protected from the specter of government regulation.

Re: The 'Fairness' Doctrine: America In The Balance
As usual, the liberal view of "free speech" grants that particular right only to those with whom they agree. The left has as much right and ability to establish radio talk shows favoring their views as anyone else but has had no success in doing so, being unable to attract the sponsors whose fees support such programming. Big surprise(?).......ha rdly, sponsors are members of the business community most of whom are considered either evil, corrupt or downright criminal by liberals.
Any move to re-institute the "Unfairness Doctrine" as it should be more correctly named will be met with howls of protest............. .......free speech as conferred by the first amendment to the Constitution was meant to be used primarily exactly the way it is used in radio. It was put there to protect any political speech which may be deemed unpopular by another person or group.
Speaking of this unconstitutional move by Pelosi and her ilk, one couldn't find a more perfect example of the reason that the First Amendment exists.

Re: The 'Fairness' Doctrine: America In The Balance
You can find a list of all reps that haven't sign the discharge petition at Rep. Mike Pence's website. Unfortunately, there are two Republicans on the list. I believe that they need special admonishment from their constituents.
I have sent the following letter to the newspaper of record in the districts of 18 Democrats so far. Please feel free to send one yourself, as there are a bunch of them! And, don't forget to remind Ms. Pelosi that she is not the Queen Bee that she thinks she is. The last time I looked the Constitution still says of, by, and for THE PEOPLE. The Fairness Doctrine is being held over the heads of all radio stations in the United States by Nancy Pelosi – she says that it is her objective. If re-imposed, it would cause the radio stations to refrain from all discussion – left, right, libertarian and green. It would inflict such arduous controls on the stations that they will not take a chance on airing any opinions at all. People, please realize that this is government censorship of freedom of speech.
Nancy Pelosi can be contacted at The Office of the Speaker: 202-225-0100. Her email address is americanvoices@mail. house.gov. Tell her that you want a floor vote on The Broadcaster's Freedom Act (H.R. 2905).
Locally, your Congressman Dumb Stump is one of the Democrats that have not signed the discharge petition that would force a vote, whether Ms. Pelosi wants it or not. He/she can be contacted at 202-225-XXXX (Washington) or XXX-XXX-XXXX. His/her website is www.dummy.house.gov to send an email. Tell him/her to sign the discharge petition for the Broadcaster's Freedom Act (H.R. 694).
I find Ms. Pelosi's email address particularly amusing.
See me in the classifieds.

Re: The 'Fairness' Doctrine: America In The Balance
It is my constant hope and the very item I ask all to pay attention to, the Second Amendment, freedom of speech, our most valuble amendment. Without it the lies and the disinformation able to be spread by those who want to steal your freedoms cannot be countered and the truth remains a stranger. It is a form of verbal blindness, caused by dictators and tyrants, for without free speech they have a free hand to control and enslave your entire life, if free speech is allowed to flourish as it has in this country then those who hide their aims to steal are exposed and their chances for success are thwarted. It is a never ending vigilance to be passed on and maintined by a freedom loving peoples.
