The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
By Michelle Malkin
July 23, 2008
A jaw-dropping political miracle may be on the horizon. No, I'm not talking about the second coming of the Obamessiah. I'm talking about the long-deserved comeuppance of troop-smearing, pork-feasting, scandal-tainted Democratic Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania.
The 18-term congressman's challenger, staunch conservative Republican newcomer William Russell, raised nearly $670,000 in the second fundraising quarter. Earmark king Murtha scraped together a measly $119,000. Russell's underdog campaign bested Murtha without the perks of incumbency, national name recognition, big PAC donations or mainstream media support.

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
I donated to Russell even though he is in PA:
1. simply because I do not have a candidate that I can truly support in Arkansas
2. I want Murtha out of the House and a Conservative in

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
I'm a Pennsylvanian and I never HEARD of Mr. Russell. (Imagine that -- no mention of him in the mainstream media! Color me shocked!) As an avowed conservative and "traditional" Republican, I'll certainly do whatever I can to advance Mr. Russell into office.
I do hope he knows what a snake pit he'll be entering, though. It's gotten to the point where I hate to send good people into such a hellhole.

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
Russell sounds like the breath of fresh air needed to counter the likes of people such as Jack(ass) Murtha. Murtha may not even realize how angry he has made people all over the country with his spurious attacks concerning our fine military. Murtha leads an insular life inside the beltway where he and his colleagues (John Kerry comes to mind) see no problem bashing members of the armed forces with impunity. I hope that the good people of Pennsylvania have the fortitude to fore go the "pork" that Murtha has probably slathered on them during his time in the senate and elect someone who has a clear understanding of right and wrong. Please throw Murtha out!!

S'cuse me, mea culpa..............I elevated Murtha to the Senate. Ugh, even worse!! Sorry about that...........I would prefer not to be considered as stupid as representative Murtha.

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
Thank you former Army Lieutenant Colonel William Russell, and Desert Storm veteran, and Army reservist who is on active duty with the Army until after Aug. 1. Now, you sir, are the kind of man, leader and American that Pennsylvannia and America needs in The Congress of the United States of America. May you overwhelmingly win in Novenber, and continue to serve your country with duty, honor, purpose and resolve. God bless you sir, your family, friends and those you serve with, and those like MISSL who support you.
May Pennsylvanniain's send an honorable man to represent them in Congress once again .....to strengthen and protect America.

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
I have told Murtha openly, that he is not worth following, that he is now and has been a worthless representative of leadership in the military and the congress.
It would please many if he were to step down from his congressional office in defeat and onto the platform of the gallows meant to hang him by his scrawny neck to save us all from giving him any years of retirement. He is a thief, a liar and a treasonus bastard.

The only way to change the mess Congress has become is to send in strong conservatives who will stand on their principles and do the right thing for all of us.
CT was targeted by Ds during the last election cycle and we lost all our Republican representatives but one. He now votes more with the Ds in hopes of saving his seat in 2008. I suspect we'll have to suffer at lot more before we can get decent Republicans elected here again, even in our state elections.
That leaves me scouring the nation for solid conservatives to support. Somehow, Russell came to my attention a couple of weeks ago and I immediately made a donation to his campaign. I would love to see some of these well known, long term Dems lose their seats. It might wake people up.
Kerry from MA also has a strong challenger that people might want to help. The more we can topple, the better off we will be.

Re: The Man Who Could Topple Jack Murtha
As an Army veteran, I can very much appreciate what Mr. Russell stands for in regard to his military career. In addition, I am very much impressed with his conservative values and ideas. If we could get the Republican Party as a whole to adopt this approach to the fall campaign, we would be able to once again tell the mass drive-by media to take a hike. Their ability to dictate who is acceptable as our president, senator, or representative is greatly limited when conservatives step up and announce their adherence to true American values.
An earlier poster mentioned the "snake pit" of Congress. Just passing this bit of information along, there is a Virginia representative that I am proud to support. His name is Bob Goodlatte and he is currently working on getting Ms. Pelosi to allow a vote on drilling. He has been and continues to be a staunch supporter of conservative values. He and Mr. Russell will make a fine team when Jack Murtha goes home.
