Default Bush's final G-8 summit may be harmonious

By TOM RAUM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The issues are as difficult as ever, but the conditions are likely to be more conducive to agreement as President Bush attends his eighth and final economic summit of industrial democracies.

The annual Group of Eight meeting, which begins Monday on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, comes amid economic turmoil in most of the member nations, as well as political uncertainty for many of the leaders. Oil prices are hitting new record highs and worries about inflation are mounting. Like the United States, most of the nation's major trading partners are experiencing slow growth and market declines.

And Bush isn't the only one suffering low approval ratings.

If I were Bush, I'd say something to the effect: "Well old "friends" it looks like, based on polls, that in a few months you will be dealing with B. Hussein Obama which means military security for Eurasia isn't worth a flip since he and the commiecrat led politburo will dismantle the military as much as possible. So you can deal with me now and get some safety or you can deal with Obamanations later - take your choice". If that possibility didn't force them into wearing Depends for a while nothing would, and I'd go for the biggest deal I could get for America.
