Default Obama: Service to be a cornerstone of presidency

By JENNIFER LOVEN
Associated Press
July 3, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Barack Obama urged people Wednesday to look past the "bustle and busyness" of their everyday lives this Fourth of July weekend to find a way to help make the American dream real not just for themselves, but for all.

The call for service is part of a flag-draped week focused on God, country, veterans and freedom. They are larger-than-life themes, all prominent in the successful campaigns of President Bush and aimed at introducing Obama to Americans who know little about the presumed Democratic nominee -- or who may be skeptical based on what they've heard.

Oh yes, don't believe your lying ears but believe the BS I'm about to lay on you.

But early in college, he said, values like hard work and empathy instilled by his mother and grandparents resurfaced "after a long hibernation." He eventually found himself working as a community organizer in a devastated South Side Chicago neighborhood, and said he was transformed.
Great shades of Timothy Leary. I don't suppose those values and hard work was instilled more by the coke you snorted or pot you smoked in college? I bet you did have a long hibernation.
Or, am I to distrust my lying ears again?

all I will say is typical. as for most of this, he has never worked hard one day of his life!! he has no idea of what hard work is and any service that "might" make him eligible for the office of potus is nill. he was in the senate a total of 143 days when he decided to run.

no military service of any kind and the big thing in his run is "change" of which the biggest change needs to be himself and his wife. he would change this nation from what we know to something we surely don't want.

Question Re: Obama: Service to be a cornerstone of presidency

I read this article, and came away with the following. He is trying to go back to the days of JFK and try to get college kids to go into public service, and stay out of the military. This guy's mind is working 25 hours a day trying everything he knows to get into the W.H. If people can't read between the lines then we are doomed to at least 4 years of a muslim administration.I haven't been keeping a running account of the money he has said he is going to try and spend, but I tell you one thing, he is well on the way to bankrupting this country, unless he can get all the tax cuts reinstalled, and add on some new ones on the oil companies. Heaven help us if he does convince 51% of the voters to vote for him.

Why would i want to do what he is suggesting after i earn a degree, specially in public service in which he is suggesting. Those loans don't pay themselves off and it is a waste of money and your education to do so.
