Interview With A Hollywood Patriot

Let us not, on this Independence Day weekend, dwell on the political pretenders to patriotism rushing to out-proclaim their love of country. Nor let us pay heed to the sneering movie directors and journalism pooh-bahs allergic to red, white and blue.

Instead, I'd like to share a bit of a special interview with a true Hollywood freedom-lover. Last week, my friend Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward and I co-hosted a special Internet telethon on Ustream.tv to raise money for care packages to send to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The effort yielded more than $1.1 million, thanks to thousands of generous donors across the country. Among the special guests who contributed time and resources was musician John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting.

[Think About It]

This one line in the interview says alot: "And the art that comes out of Hollywood, the music, affects our perception in the world." Many American's perceptions of what is real and what is not in our world is influenced by the fiction that comes out of Hollywood. Unfortunately, most of the decision makers in Washington are among that number. Could one of the reasons be that Hollywood and the mainstream media. Has their own "fairness doctrine" which might read it is only fair when it supports what we want it to be. Hollywood and the mainstream media are great weavers of fiction, but in truth they have a jaundiced view of reality.

I'd like to know why Hollywood entertainers think it is their job to be political pundits. Most of them don't live a life based in reality and usually have more money that brain cells. Why would I listen to Sean Penn or Martian Sheen spew forth their dribble on governmental policies. It's like expecting Al Gore to act like an actor. Oh wait he did that, well see what I mean?

What a refreshing report.

It seems that the only 'good' wars are those when the jackass party is running things. Witness our disgracful actions in the Balkans under Slick Willy. Bombing from so high that civilian casualties were inevitable inorder to provide moslems another foothold in Europe was cowardly and showed a lack of rational analysis of the situation. Nonetheless, the Hollywood crowd cheered the effort as did the MSM.

It's a pity there aren't more brave voices in Hollywood to emulate the example of John Ondrasik.

9/11 was a wake up call to Americans and the world, but over time, people have gone back to sleep.

Freedom has never been an automatic given. We've had to fight many times to preserve it. Too bad many fellow citizens forget history and take our freedoms for granted.

It's always refreshing to hear of those who don't.
