Default Gen. Clark won't back off critique of McCain

By DAVID ESPO
Associated Press
July 2, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Retired Gen. Wesley Clark rejected suggestions he apologize Tuesday for saying John McCain's medal-winning military service does not qualify him for the White House. Elaborating, Clark said a president must have judgment, not merely courage and character.

Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential hopeful, said Clark's comments had been inartful. McCain said Obama should go further than that.

"I think the time has come for Sen. Obama to not just repudiate Gen. Clark, but to cut him loose," McCain said en route to Colombia.

Now there's a new one....
Honestly, now, are we expecting anyone on the left to "back off" their slander of McCain? ("critique" my foot, slander is slander)

Ashley Wilkes has painted himself into a corner. He's not going to get any assistance from the Obama campaign.

On the contrary General Clark! It takes a lot of discernment and judgement to learn how to fly an aircraft like McCain flew into combat.

Anyone can sit in an office with his heels up on the desk in a generals uniform and make decisions in a calm surrounding. McCain was making his decisions while getting shot at in combat more then once on many missions.

Maybe you should try it sometime General ,under those same conditions, and let's see how well you perform making judements!

McCain's military and captivity experience combined with his service in congress far outweighs his opponents empty record.

There is a REASON that Wesley Clark is called and has been called a "Perfumed Prince" in many military circles for quite some time. The man is and always has been a politician whose rise to power was at the hand of Bill Clinton after his election in 2002. His rise has also been fueled by the sacrifice of the people who've served under him whose welfare was always secondary to his own welfare. Nothing that this officer says has ANY value to me.

Poor General Weasly Clark! Nobody warned him about the vulnerability of living in a glass house!

Of course, Weasly never piloted anything more challenging than a desk ( seat belt attached?) during his pseudo service career. He may have expected the personal approval of his current coat-tail provider, but Weasly's been thrown under the bus to join his fellow discarded Obamaniacs. Is anyone keeping a body count?

Cool Re: Gen. Clark won't back off critique of McCain

As far as I'm concerned, the reason Clark won't back off, is because this whole thing is being orchestrated by the Obama campaign. He denies and he lies. When he followed Rev, Wright for 20 yrs. and then says he didn't know what Rev. Wright stood for, why would anybody believe he isn't behind these attacks on McCain? Clark is no more than a willing fall guy and puppet.

Obama has no qualifications and no experience, how can Americans be this blind???

Thumbs down Re: Gen. Clark won't back off critique of McCain

He's Too Stupid To Have Sense Enough To Back Off, Apologize And Try To Save A Little Face. He Is Obama's Attack Dog. His Value, Only, Is As A Useful Idiot. He Mouths Off One Day And It Gives Obama The Opporturnity To Appear Respectful And Patriotic. No Body Is Fooled. Obama Is Very Happy To "use" Clark. Clark Is Prostituting Himself For A Perceived Veep Spot. Would Love To See His Face When That Doesn't Happen. His Chances For A Veep Slot, If There Ever Were Any, Were Shot With His Remarks.

I agree with those that think Clark is being used as an attack dog. If Obama really wanted him to stop, he would send a strong message to Clark and speak out against it very strongly in the media.

Obama wants to be perceived as taking the high road while encouraging others to do his dirty work for him.

So much for "hope and change". Seems like just another sleazy politician to me.
