Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
One News Now
A Christian activist says Barack Obama has done nothing to reconcile his actions and words with his professed Christianity.
Senator Obama (D-Illinois), the presumptive Democratic candidate for president, recently held meetings with prominent Christians, including Franklin Graham and Bishop T.D. Jakes. But Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America Action, says evangelical leaders send a confusing message when they meet with Obama.
"This is a man that has never seen an unborn fetus that he wouldn't abort," chides Scarborough.

Re: Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
I like the way BO refers to The Book of Romans as an "Obscure Text"!
Now, if he were referring to the Copper Scroll or the Nag Hamadi Texts, or even The Apocrypha, i could understand, but THE EPISTLE OF PAUL TO THE ROMANS??????? PUH-LEEEZE!
Of course, maybe where BO went to church, the bulk of exegetical preaching came from "The Primeval Mitosis Texts" from Eldridge Cleaver's "Soul On Ice".
Which Democrat said the Book Of Job was his favorite NEW Testament Book???

That would be Dr. Howard Dean, MD, former Vermont governor and presidential candidate and theological improvisationalist.
Source Giving credit where credit is due, I do think Dr. Dean pronounced "Job" correctly, with a long "o".

Obama courts conservatives with new faith program
Quote:
By JENNIFER LOVEN
Associated Press
July 2, 2008
ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) -- Taking a page from President Bush, Democrat Barack Obama said Tuesday he wants to expand White House efforts to steer social service dollars to religious groups, risking protests in his own party with his latest aggressive reach for voters who usually vote Republican.
Obama contended he is merely stating long-held positions â€" surprising to some, he said, after a primary campaign in which he was "tagged as being on the left."
In recent days, with the Democratic nomination in hand and the general election battle with Republican John McCain ahead, Obama has been sounding centrist themes with comments on guns, government surveillance and capital punishment. He's even quoted Ronald Reagan.

Obama is ALWAYS disingenuous, never straight forward and honest - while pandering for votes he would subtly remove employment restrictions designed to protect faith based organizations and delivery systems. This guy is a snake; open your eyes foolish ones!

Re: Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
McCain couldn't fit a visit to Colorado Springs into his schedule, which was, imo, a mistake. Now BHO is going to C. S. - you might say he's going to capitalize on McCain's mistake, although I'm not sure how much it will actually help BHO, given his positions on issues like gay marriage and abortion.
BHO's announcement of support for faith-based initiative reminds me too much of Bill Clinton's Promise in 1992 to cut taxes for the middle class. In case you don't remember, in 1993, that promise turned into the biggest peacetime tax hike since World War Two.
Of course, BHO isn't Bill Clinton, but (#1) he is another Democrat, (#2) his voting record is almost non-existent, and (#3) many of his campaign speeches have been fuzzy on the details of his positions, so how else do we guess what he will actually do if/when he's inaugurated?
Bill Clinton also proclaimed himself to be "a new Democrat" and "a centrist". Sound anything like what we just heard from BHO?
Given my distrust of Democrats generally, and BHO's lack of voting record in office - either in Springfield or in Washington - his non-committal speeches do nothing to convince me that I should vote for him, especially when the few times he does take a clear position on some issue, it's completely contrary to my position on that issue.
Thinking of him as a candidate is like looking at a poisonous snake hidden in the grass - I can't see much of it, but what I can see of it makes me very uncomfortable.
Of course, as conservative as I am, BHO's chances of getting my vote anyway are slim and none.

Re: Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
Obama wasn't here to meet with evangelical leaders today. He gave a talk on service programs at a local college.

Re: Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
It is not worth it for any conservative Evangelicals to give up their religious freedom in exchange for faith-based programs. Because once ultra liberal Obama is in control of the White House, he will nominate liberal legislative judges and sign in any and all anti-traditional family, anti-Christian bills into laws.

Re: Meetings with Obama confusing Evangelicals
How hard can it be for Christians with spiritual discernment to see and recognize an imposter? What have we come to when it is even a close call whether or not he's an anti-Christ? Start with his attack on marriage (one man, one woman, ordained by God) and then with his assault on the unborn, and his advocacy of sodomy, ... at what point do you need to question whether he has defined "Christian" in a manner that is just a tad "off"?
Be very afraid that the preachers in our country will see this as their moment to become "Cool".
