Default Obama disowns critique of McCain's military record

By BETH FOUHY
Associated Press
July 1, 2008

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- Democrat Barack Obama rejected a retired general's suggestion that Republican John McCain's military experience didn't necessarily qualify him to be president, as GOP surrogates lined up to label the remarks indecent and disrespectful.

A day after retired Army Gen. Wesley Clark, now an Obama supporter, discussed McCain's experience as a Navy pilot and prisoner of war in Vietnam on a Sunday talk show, his remarks set off the pattern that has become familiar from innumerable earlier flaps over surrogate remarks during the presidential election year: The candidates, Obama and McCain, took the high road while the bare-knuckled language was left to their surrogates.

At a news conference here Monday, McCain himself said of Clark's comment, "That kind of thing is unnecessary" and distracts from real pocketbook issues voters care about.

Maye the fact that Senator mcCain was tortured while a POW does not qualify him to be POTUS. On the other hand, his ACTIONS while he was POW certainly deserve consideration. For example, he could have been released before his comrades on the basis that his father was a famous admiral. He refused; that must have been a tough call. I think he knows how to make decisions when circumstances are difficult.

I'm with Rush on this one--he didn't really reject it. Notice the article only has a few words quoted by BO and most of the article quotes OTHERS rejecting it. Another drive-by media slant.

Besides Obama's personal remarks disdaining criticism of McCain's military service, the campaign's spokesman, Bill Burton said, "Sen. Obama honors and respects Sen. McCain's service, and of course he rejects yesterday's statement by Gen. Clark."

The Boy Muslim rejects the remarks after the fact but we know it was a planned attack.
It's their way of going after McCain's leadership record of which the Military is a part of.
The saying " How do you unring a bell that has been rung" applies here.

Jolanta made a VERY valid point...McCain stood by his comrades, when he was offered freedom and no more torture. He will stand by his country when the going gets rough (and anybody who thinks it ain't gonna get rougher, needs to get his/her head outta you know where) and do what is right, moral and ethical. THERE, I feel, is the trust we need to remember he offers.

On the other hand, Obama has deserted anyone who has not been a positive influence on his quest to be the most powerful man in the world. From the Wrong Reverend Wright to Wes Clark, Obama distances himself when the situation becomes uncomfortable.

If Obama becomes POTUS (please, God, no) and we are attacked again, you better believe Obama will run like a rabbit, literally, with his wife and kids in tow and we'll only hear from him when he is in a bunker, deep in the earth and away from the conflict. He'll immediately wave the white flag and demand special treatment for himself and family, and the rest of his country be damned. And we will be......

It's no wonder that this election is Obama's to lose, the guy is a gaffe-a-matic and yet our boy Mr. Tepid cannot seem to quit treating the young black Messaiah as his misunderstood child. I would tell this young dummy to go find a real job and stop messing around in an adult world.

McCain's defense of the slander on his honor by a loser like Weasley Clerk was to say the least, milque toast, mellow, low level. If that is all this RINO can muster to show them how insulted he was, well then let the mud balls continue to be slung and may they grow larger and more direct.

This is going to be a long and dirty campaign. I just hope America can survive it and not be so deeply divided that we see another civil war.

Rush is right when he says we need to be on the offensive and not just defending the barbs from the liberal machine. Somebody is pulling the strings of the Obama campaign. A no name junior senator with 1 year of experience doesn't get to be presidental candidate of a major party without someone running the show from behind the scene. Does anyone feel like we are in a live production of "Wizard of Oz?"

Thumbs down Re: Obama disowns critique of McCain's military record

Isn't it just "special" (underhanded would be a better word), how Obama puts a surrogate out there to do his dirty work, and then criticizes the statement the next day after the remark was made and in the news?
McCain needs no one to testify as to his military record or deserving of the medals he received.
I seem to remember Clark running for office. Wonder what he thought his qualifications to do so were. Surely not his supreme intellect! He is just a useful idiot for the Obama campaign to use and is doing so.

MMN- I suspect his handlers are George Soros, and further behind the scenes Maurice Strong- a couple of ultra-rich socialists who are using their wealth to create world socialism. The latter is the grand architect of the global warming scam. Create a scare surrounding energy use and the west cuts back out of fear, collapsing their economies and the rest falls into place.

McCain should just tell that commie piece of $#^% and his offensive spokesman to shut the hell up! Or better yet, why doesn’t McCain invite Obama to meet on national television and compare military service?
