Drill Here! Drill Now!
By Henry Lamb
June 30, 2008
Democrats like to say "We can't drill our way out of this energy crisis."
Newsflash! Drilling is the only way out of this energy crisis.
Oil is only a part of the solution to the energy crisis, but it is the most important part. No one yet knows the source of the energy future generations will use. One thing is certain: the free market should make this decision, not the government. It is the government's meddling with the market that has caused the current crisis.
Government decided that the free market should not expand the supply of oil from known reserves, or build new refineries, because government believed the result might harm the environment. In a truly free market, the consumer would make the choice between price and social responsibility, not the government. Democrats have a long history of imposing their brand of social responsibility on society, with the help of far too many Republicans. The Democrats, though, are primarily responsible for blocking the use of known, available oil reserves in the United States.

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
One might think that people who vote for Democrats might be tired of paying high gas prices too and contact their Congressional representtives. But then again, maybe they have already done so and are not being heard. That would certainly result in the low approval rating Congress has. If that is the case maybe there is hope of a total revamping of Congress in November. Congressional Democrats will not approve drilling so I hope they are removed from position when they come up for re-election. Something needs done because they are holding America hostage.

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
Mr, Lamb,
Send me a map and the paperwork and I will personally supply a very BIG DRILL BIT and send or take it directly too Harry Reid's Office. I live in Nevada and have watched him preach and scold us for wanting to have lower energy costs and listened to him TELL the Power Company that they can't build a Coal Fired Plant down in the freaking middle of the stupid state because it would cause pollution, (who the hell cares anyway, NO ONE LIVES THERE) and deliver his sermons on the mount to all will pander to him for the past 25+ years. I am sooooo sick of him and Pelosi and the rest of them, I will personally deliver that stinking Drill Bit to him at his office while he is in town.
I really would like to cram it down his stupid throat, but that would not do, decorum, you know...... and you, I presume, know that one of his sons is on the Clark County Board of Commissioners, setting the rest of the family up for various positions within and lobbying for Gov offices and policies that will favor good old Harry, don't you?? Reid is a very corrupt man, and he uses his indelibly soft voice and demeanor to show everyone that he can do no wrong because he never shows anger, He is as wrong as is possible and gets away with all of it for those very reasons. Stupid people believe him and because he says so, he is right..

I've edited your post.
If we wanted you to use bad language here then we wouldn't put those words in the filter. Please don't use symbols to defeat it.
Thanks!

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
It's a given that we are going to use X amount of oil in the next twenty years. If we don't develop alternate energy sources, X will be very large indeed. If we DO, then X will be smaller. But no matter what it is, it won't be ZERO - it's unlikely that cars, 18-wheelers, locomotives and ships will all run on non-fossil fuels. But what we can and must do is to zero-out the use of fossil fuels - oil, coal, natural gas - for stationary power plants - and substitute clean and safe nuclear power, supplemented by wind, solar, geothermal and other non-polluting energy sources. ( Each one has problems, we have to face it.) And in the meantime, provide as much as possible of X from domestic sources. It is madness to continue to enrich the sheiks and Chavezes with what's left of our monetary resources. For some reason the Democrats don't get it. I think every member of Congress - of either party - who has continually voted against development of our own resources should be targeted for defeat starting now. What planet are these dodos from? From the old movie, "I'm mad as HELL and I'm not going to take it any more".

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
Good article Mr. Lamb. Just wish more Americans would read it and could comprehend it's wisdom. But, unfortunately, too many Americans listen to the msm lairs and the dummyrats, and can not read either. Too many are just looking for another government hand-out, or bail-out !!!!
Americans should pay close attention, and vote wisely in November.
As Schillerbjr said recently:
Quote:
There is only a "recession" in Democrats and the MSM minds. And, Everything is right with America except "LIBERALISM". If we rid ourselves
of this "disease", we will be a far greater nation! And, Vote every elected Democrat "OUT" on Tuesday, November 4, 2008!!
|
Government is the problem as usual !!!! And particularly the dummyrats and bo, HRC, pelosi, reid, et al. Let's remember that in November.

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
I am all for drilling in the US, but I would like to insure that the oil found here stays here and not be sold to China or elsewhere in the world. I know that this would be government control and a bit restraining of the free market, but I do believe that it makes sense for the purpose of national security.

Re: Drill Here! Drill Now!
The argument that the dems are putting forward on this oil crisis is so specious as to defy common sense. Had we started drilling when Clinton was in office re: Anwar, we would be reaping the product of that endeavor now. Of course, being a liberal getting Sierra Club money, he vetoed it. This will never change as long as the dems are getting their coffers filled with environmentalists' money and the ACLU's seeing a cash cow, filing the suits, that keep us all hurting.
The concern is not with "we the people," it is with their pocketbooks! They condemn our dependence on foreign oil, yet stand in the way of our drilling our own. Makes no sense, does it? Other countries are drilling off our shores now.
Ethanol will never replace oil, neither will wind farms, which T. Kennedy doesn't want to view from his palatial home on Cape Cod. Ethanol has driven up food prices and the drain from the taxpayers, trying to appease the environmentalists trying to make it work is astronomical.
I am thinking it may take a march on Washington and a revolution to get the dems out of the special interests' bank accounts before anything will change. The financial pain the people are experiencing means nothing to them, only their own self interests do.
Witness the special deals on mortgages etc., only politicians can get, and are asking "we the people" to bail out the mortgage companies giving them the sweetheart deals. Being chairman of the banking committee and receiving one of these deals doesn't seem to raise an eyebrow from the congress. Witness the fact that Pelosi demanded a plane larger than any previous house speaker used, to ferry her backside to California and back to D.C., burning lots of fuel derived from oil, yet she is standing in the way of our drilling. It pays to be in congress and we are the saps doing the paying.
