Default 'Going Green' But Not Going Accountable

By Paul M. Weyrich
June 20, 2008

Ever since global warming became the latest concern of the environmental movement and former Vice President Albert A. (Al) Gore, Jr. became the lead spokesman against global warming, "going green" has become the new fad. "Going green" essentially means reducing one's "carbon footprint," using organic materials in one's life, and changing one's lifestyle so as not to harm nature in any way or leave too much refuse in one's wake. Most conservatives would agree that conservation is a laudable goal, but the radical environmentalism and disrespect for human life and initiative exhibited by most "green" groups is antithetical to a properly ordered civil society.

Mr. Weyrich might be a more credible spokesman for the course he advacates here if he hadn't already jumped aboard the global warming hoax bandwagon along with his buddy, Newt Gingrich.

We've known that federal meddling in education is wrong ever since Smilin' Jimmy established the Dept of Education yet subsequent administrations, both GOP and jackass, have increased its budget and maximized their intrusive influence.

An excellent example of the point Weyrich is making would be the federal mandate that we switch to these new expensive light bulbs that contain toxic amounts of mercury vapor. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, you need to call hazmat if you break one. No information is provided on how to dispose of them. I've stocked up on about 5 years' worth of incandescent bulbs - to be on the safe side.

And these bulbs are all made in China according to a report by one of our congress critters.

Breath the vapors from a broken bulb and you'll probably turn green.
