Obama defends his patriotism, quarrels with McCain
By CHARLES BABINGTON and MATT APUZZO
Associated Press
May 13, 2008
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Wearing a flag lapel pin, Sen. Barack Obama emphasized his patriotism and support for a strong and humane military Monday, while Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton implored West Virginians to sustain her hopes of somehow denying him the Democratic presidential nomination.
Obama expects Clinton to win Tuesday's primary in West Virginia, which has large numbers of working-class whites -- a group that usually backs the former first lady -- as well as a strong military tradition. He used his visit to Charleston to combat critics' claims that he is not particularly patriotic or ready to be commander in chief, in part because he never served in the military, usually does not wear a flag pin, and opposed the Iraq war from the start.

Obamanation's new image - wearing a flag pin. Gee, next thing you know, he'll even place his hand over his heart when saying the Pledge!
There may be hope for him yet - but just not in the WH.

Re: Obama defends his patriotism, quarrels with McCain
I think Tom Hanks would be a perfect VEEP for Obama. He is "loved" by Americans. He worked for Fed Ex in Cast Away and survived being stranded on an island by sheer guts & ingenuity. He knows the hardships of Blacks in Prison. Just look at his time as the "Boss" in Green Mile. John Cofey changed his entire attitude of the Justice System. As for Foreign Policy; all one has to do is go buy Charlie Wilsons War. Charlie Wilson is a Texan, Tom may turn Texas Blue. The Dems have to find an actor equal to BO & Tom Hanks is it. I was thinking Jane Fonda, but she is sooooo controversial. What do ya think?

Re: Obama defends his patriotism, quarrels with McCain
A man who has never served his country, does not place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is sung, has a wife who is not proud of America (until recently) is giving John McCain a lecture on patriotism....NOT:co nfused:
I am trying to figure a single word that would aptly describe that man and for the life of me I cannot think of a word vile enough and still be able to be said in polite company
May God have Mercy on our Souls

How can he possibly defend something he doesn't have?

Re: Obama defends his patriotism, quarrels with McCain
If Obama was truly a patriot, there would be no need to defend his position. Does anyone question John McCain's patriotism?
Charitably, one might say that Obama's character is elusive - but truthfully, it appears to be non-existent.

Re: Obama defends his patriotism, quarrels with McCain
Sen. B.O. his expression and his action in far to many areas including patriotism are all questionable. He is upset that he is being grilled and tested on all the details of his life that are coming into the open as the campaign moves on.
I am wondering still that when he attended this so called church, did he bow his head and close his eyes when ask to pray respectfully in the name of God or did he do much the same as he has done when ask to show respect for the country that gave him all these opportunities? Makes one wonder what he carries in that tool box of political tricks he intends to use to convince all he is a true believer?

Obama is only a "patriot" to Islam.
America can do without this "individual"!!
