Default Rethinking The Iraq Critics

By Michael Barone
May 12, 2008

In trying to understand news about the conflicts in Iraq, I work to keep in mind the difference between what we know now about decision making in World War II and what most Americans knew at the time. From the memoirs and documents published after the war, we've learned how leaders made critical judgments. But at the time, even well-informed journalists only could guess at what was going on behind the scenes.

Today we're only beginning to learn about what went on behind the scenes in regard to Iraq. One important new source is the recently published "War and Decision" by Douglas Feith, the No. 3 civilian at the Pentagon from 2001 to 2005. Feith quotes extensively from unpublished documents and contemporary memorandums, just as in the late 1940s Robert Sherwood did in "Roosevelt and Hopkins" and Winston Churchill did in his World War II histories. The picture Feith paints is at considerable variance from the narratives with which we've become familiar.

Unfortunately, everyone had 20/20 hindsight.

Added to the fact that the MSM had a "we hate Bush" campaign going it is no wonder people are so delusional about Iraq.

I hope more does come out in the months and years to come. Of course there are those who will never believe the facts.

If I'm not mistaken, even the U.N. published several reports that suspected Hussein of WMD's.

The liberal MSM loves the U.N. and usually hangs on their every word...but the moment the U.N. makes an honest report, that "love" for the U.N. is lost.

Hehe, I find it funny...

I do have to ask why didn't the Bush administration stand up and let the american people know the truth? Did they and the MSM ignored their attempts? Or did Bush just not even try?? Someone more intelligent than I please let me know.

Talking Re: Rethinking The Iraq Critics

The Iraq War was the "right" thing to do.

EVIDENCE: There has not been "one" terrorist
attack on American soil since 9/11/01. President
Bush made the right call, regardless what the
Democrat Party and their pawns in the MSM think.

Just my "humble opinion".
