Default Executions to resume after high court OK's lethal injections

By MARK SHERMAN
Associated Press
April 17, 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The longest pause in executions in the U.S. in 25 years is about to end. A splintered Supreme Court cleared the way Wednesday, approving the most widely used method of lethal injection.

Almost immediately, Virginia lifted its moratorium on the death penalty. Mississippi and Oklahoma said they would seek execution dates for convicted murderers, and other states were ready to follow.

A nearly seven-month halt in executions was brought on by the court's decision to review Kentucky's lethal injection procedures, which are similar to those in roughly three dozen states. The break is the longest since a 17-month period ending in August 1982.

Thumbs up Re: Executions to resume after high court OK's lethal injections

I heard on my local news KY3TV last night, that Gov. Blunt gave immediate orders to crank up the death row march to the needle. We are overcrowded.

He's not running again, for Gov., so he has no problem with this.

I don't disagree with his orders, cause there are some real monsters needing the vaccine.

Lethal injection?

IMHO, those who have been ABSOLUTELY (DNA etc.) convicted of a horrendous crime should be dispatched in the same manner as their victim. This whine and cry about cruel and unusual punishment is nothing more than a crock. How about their victims? Anyone interested in their cruel and unusual death?

If, as the ACLU and the other wimpy civil rights groups, claim that life in prison is SO MUCH WORSE than the death penalty, then why do those on death row spend years and years filing appeals to have the death penalty overruled?
