Default McCain's Incoherent New World Order

By Cliff Kincaid
March 31, 2008

In his March 26 speech (web site) to the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, McCain never mentioned the need to preserve American sovereignty. He could have reassured conservatives by stating his forthright opposition to Senate ratification of the U.N.'s Law of the Sea Treaty, which provides for international control over billions of dollars worth of oil, gas and minerals and undermines American claims to North Pole riches. But he chose not to.

Instead, as the Washington Post put it, McCain promised "a collaborative foreign policy," conducted in coordination with other nations. The New York Times said he distanced himself from "unilateralism" in foreign affairs.

"Liberals are going to love this speech," conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh said about the McCain address. He said it sounded like the "global test" that liberal Democratic presidential candidate and Senator John Kerry had proposed for U.S. foreign policy in 2004.

Without having had the opportunity yet to hold my nose and vote for the lesser (?) of two evils, this guy scares me.

NAFTA is one thing. We can control that. But a common union with the kleptocracies and socialists to the north and south of us is unthinkable.

Perhaps it's because McCain spent so much of his childhood bouncing around from one naval station to another that he doesn't seem to understand the fundamentals of American exceptionalism. There's no country on earth even close to us in defining principles that can be reduced to God, country, and family. The basis of this are found in the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution.

We have unparalleled freedom in our country that led to the development of the greatest and most prolific inventors the world has ever seen. Together with a guarantee of private property rights, both tangible and intangible, it spurred ever greater achievements and advances.

Why would we want to emulate the Europeans? They're not even reproducing enough to maintain a stable population and will soon find themselves in a fix because there will be more of them living on government largesse than those paying the bills.

The Canadians? They allow anyone of working age into the country in order to shore up their shaky socialist system. "You're a radical Afghani fleeing religious persecution? Come on in!"

The Mexicans would screw up a one car funeral. The flowers would be stolen and resold, the hearse would be spirited off to a chop shop, a rich mourner would be kidnapped and held for ransom, and the grieving family would be mugged.

The next four years will be grim but it's not the end of the conservative movement because there are more who still believe in this country than don't.

Remember the building years during the ineffectual Gerald Ford and inept Jimmy Carter years and let's not allow it to last that long this time. Support your local conservative candidate or representative and constantly harass the liberals so that they know that their course isn't mainstream or even common sense, as they'd like us to accept.

Quote:
McCain's strange rhetoric about "North, Central, and South American life" reflects a view that nation-states are disappearing and being replaced by regional alliances and institutions.

Has McCain been listening to J. R. Hernandez too much? The following is from a customer review on Amazon of Hernanez' book.

Quote:
Hernandez often uses the peculiar term "U.S. America", as in "In today's U.S. America there is a vigorous emphasis on the controversial doctrine of separation of church and state." (p. 39) Huh? Perhaps for him the word "America" is ONLY to be used for that entity that has three parts: North, Central, and South.

I agree it's odd that a man with McCain's background does not see much value in having his country continue.

"Embrace McCain," we conservatives are told, "he is our only salvation." And everywhere we turn, we run into another roadblock of McCainisms that emulate or closely resemble leftist dogma. And this is considerably more than idle campaign rhetoric targeting moderate-progressives (read liberal). This is who McCain is, and he is making it clear that he doesn't need conservative support. So be it.
