McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
Mar 27, 6:50 PM (ET)
By LIZ SIDOTI
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - In a show of Republican unity, one-time bitter foes John McCain and Mitt Romney raised money and campaigned together Thursday for a single goal - getting McCain elected president.
"We are united. Now our job is to energize our party," the Arizona senator said in an airport hangar, flanked by Romney and Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., an early McCain supporter. Both have been mentioned as potential vice presidential picks, and McCain praised each.

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
If McCain had any brains Mitt Romney's selection as a V.P. would be a NO BRAINER. Mitt would blunt the Demorats charge that McCain doesn't understand the ecomomy. (which is kind of an absurd charge from those morons) Mitt is a great campaigner and would surely give conservatives like me a reason to vote for McCain. A prospect that doesn't excite me at all.

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
Mitt said all the right conservative words during the primaries but his actual record does not give me much comfort that he is any more conservative then John McCain.
I watch quite a few forums across the Internet and if Internet activity is any indication, then Republican enthusiasm is at an all time low. Forums that used to regularly have threads that attracted dozens or hundreds of posts are getting 1 or 5 or 10.
McCain may squeak out a win though because it looks like the people may be about to turn on the RATS.
Regards,
Jack

John McCain and Mitt Romney are both praiseworthy people. Conservatives should ask the question "What would Reagan do?". I have no doubt that Ronald Reagan would strongly support either or both of these patriots. Reagan would not emphasize perceived weaknesses or minor differences with these men of substantial character. It is painful to see either of them attacked by fellow Republicans to the benefit of the extreme liberals contending in the Democrat Party.

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
For McCain, there is NO other choice. McCain had to feel the huge letdown the party suffered when Mitt stepped down. He, (McCain), has known all along that Romney was the clear choice.
There are a lot of early voters that probably wish they had back their Republican Presidential Candidate vote.
Mitt will make a great addition to the ticket. Especially in light of what appears to be a never ending battle by two worn out alley cats on the other side of the fence. Do either one of those dem candidates give anyone a real feeling of security?
Should McCain decide against Mitt? Well, good luck John.

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
Maybe, just maybe Mitt could sit ol'John down and teach him some words in Republican? Things like, "John, global warming is a huge scam and maybe you could use some help on the use of an economic education?"
Is there a course for a RINO in bonehead thinking logic and party loyalty?
Anyone......

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
If ole John picks Mitt, both of them better hurry fast down South so they can solidify the 11 states the Pubs usually win. Mitt , after all, was not a hugely popular candidate down South and both he and John need those states to have any chance at winning in Nov. Mitt does give John some cred on economic issues and perhaps he could try to convince John that acting and speaking like a liberal Dem on taxes, Global Warming and kow towing to the EU and UN is not, not what the BASE wants.

reply to phillyfanatic: Past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior. Doesn't matter what Mitt or John say now. They will perform as liberally as a dem, as done in the past. Johns recent statements to the 'new world order' bunch makes him more outspoken of his intent to made this country a North American Continent than the veiled speak of the dems. This leaves us with 3 choices, all onboard to diminish our country. This seems like a Sophie's Choice election to me. No Choice.

If Mitt Romney was not "hugely popular" in the Southern states, can it be that we are seeing a reprise of the deplorable remarks regarding his Mormon faith - echoes of that fine upstanding Christian - Mike Huckabee?
The quality and character of a man - not his religion - should determine his electability.

Re: McCain, Romney Campaign Together in Utah
It's difficult, as a long time Republican, to watch this ridiculous 2008 campaign!! McCain was CLEARLY NOT the best choice for the GOP and his inability to raise sufficient funds or get enough votes to support his personal views on government is screaming proof. Romney bowed out early in the "game" and if he's as smart as he'd like us to believe, he'll let McCain dangle by himself at the end of that rope from which he's hanging.
McCain will fail in his quest for the Presidency unless the USA suffers another terrorist attack by a foreign or Middle Eastern country before the general election.
I absolutely have no dog in this fight and my ONLY concern is that the next 4 miserable years will not be in the hands of John McCain so that the GOP will not have to suffer another political black eye.
Like Bush, McCain does NOT listen to the American people and has his own agenda that has nothing to do with uplifting America from the depths of the Bush years . . .
