Code Pink: In Berkeley Until the Marines Leave

(CNSNews.com) - As pro-war, flag-waving counter-protesters set up camp in Berkeley, Calif., on Monday, an anti-war activist told Cybercast News Service that her organization intended to demonstrate against the city's Marine recruitment center until it was abandoned.

"We're staying here until the Marines decide to respect the people of Berkeley and what we want in our city," Zanne Joi, a spokesperson for the anti-war group Code Pink, said in an interview. "We're a city of peace. We've always voted against this war, as a council and as a people."

Code Pink has been holding regular demonstrations in front of the recruitment center since October, with activities as diverse as dancing, yoga, juggling lessons, and public kissing meant to show opposition to the Marines, according to Joi.

They need to make Berkeley completely independent of all Government funds and let them live in peace like they want to. That means no California State funds either because the State gets funds from the US Government for schools, security, medi-cal, school lunches, police and fire services. That means no Government college aid, road assistance, bridges, or freeways. They should do this until the traitorous code pink people are behind bars where they belong.

Make it a separate nation, fence it in, and make all people enter and exit through border gates guarded by US Marines.

They need an attitude adjustment out there. I am sick and tired of these games they play. It makes me want to puke.

Of course they're the kind that wants the government to hand out money left and right (mainly left) and not do the job the government is supposed to have right at the top of its list. That job is protecting this country which can't be done unless we have a trained military.

I'm still trying to figure out where the money comes from that supports these time wasters. They can show up every day in front of the recruitment center. It certainly doesn't look as though any of them have jobs.

Agree completely with all above posters.

Cut off ALL federal funds, isolate the city, call the EPA (air pollution), call the health dept. (public kissing? have they got an AIDS-free health certificate?), check their immigration status, etc.

This group is beyond belief. Where do they get their money for travel and demonstrations? Are they going to file tax returns so they can receive the $300 rebate?

I've often thought there should be a litmus test for our pols. Now, I think there should also be a litmus test to remain on this planet.

Keep on sending signals to the enemy how weak you are when they arrive and start bombing your sorry butts until there is no one left and then the marines will come in, trap the enemy, kill them, and we'll have killed two birds with one stone. The enemy gets credit for wiping you out and the marines get credit for taking back the ground.

Charie, Thank you. I assure you that Doug Lyvere (Our Western Regional Coordinator) and Glenn Boyd (Our California State Coordinator) along with Melanie Morgan of Move America Forward have every intention of keeping the pressure on Berkeley. HOOAH!!!

I thought you’d like to know were are spreading the word to veterans and
military supporters in the Minneapolis area about a counter-rally to show the
student-led anti-war protestors we don’t want them vandalizing the recruiting
offices again, as they have done in years past. Students for Democratic
Society (SDS) are organizing the anti-war rally and have said they will again
march down to the recruiters offices and we will be there to greet them.

Are we regressing to the 60s mentality? The SDS; my gosh where have they been for the past 40 years? Riots in Berkeley, like the 60s. Looks like we've come full circle. This time the police need to go out and kick butt and haul these idiots off to jail. Better yet take them out into the bay and let them swim back.
