Anti-war protesters attack Catholic parishioners in Chicago
Hot Air
A group of anti-war protesters interrupted an Easter Mass in Chicago yesterday, stunning parishioners with their shouts during Cardinal Francis George’s homily. They then squirted stage blood on the congregation, leading to their arrest and an angry confrontation in the gathering space outside the hall. As it turns out, the protesters not only were mostly incoherent, but also very, very late.
<snip>
Why did they target the Chicago cathedral? Almost three months ago, Cardinal George met with President Bush. The protesters explained (much later) that the Cardinal should have challenged Bush to end the war during that private meeting. They failed to explain (a) how they know that Cardinal George didn’t do that, and (b) why it took them ten weeks to protest the meeting.
I warned people three weeks ago that the anti-war movement was going to start getting violent. Alan Colmes scoffed at the notion, but assaulting people sitting in church demonstrates that the fringe of the movement has no sense of boundaries, and their frustration at losing in the political process keeps growing.

Re: Anti-war protesters attack Catholic parishioners in Chicago
Heard on radio yesterday that their purpose in demonstrating at Holy Name was two-fold - they would have an extremely large audience and there would be press coverage.
Know from past experience, if you wanted to attend Easter Mass there, you had to arrive at least an hour before time, otherwise you'd be standing out on the sidewalk. Never noticed if press was in attendance - that wasn't reason for going to Mass.
From the video - the protesters' appearance was about what could be expected. Wonder if they are going to check the immigration status of the 2 women shown - wouldn't be surprised if they turned out to be illegals.
Got what they wanted - publicity. Wouldn't be surprised if when they are released from jail, they didn't hold mega press conferences, trying to justify their actions.
This was disgraceful, uncalled for, and an insult to those Catholics whose only purpose for being there was to celebrate Easter. Will not state what I'd do or like to do to these sub-humans.

Jim Hoft has a roundup of links relating to the story. It turns out that one of the apparent sponsors of this attack is the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian organization. Why is a sponsor of the Palestinian cause sponsoring or at least offering apologetics for an attack on a Catholic Mass? One might expect the news media to ask that question, and to ask whether this is just an anti-war attack or whether it is an anti-Catholic, anti-Christian hate crime.

How many hate America and hate Christian groups do we have in our country today? Probably too many to name.
I believe it is time to clean house in this country and ship everyone that belongs to this type of organization out of our country. To heck with the liberals and the whiners, just do it.

The bitter irony! Those who demand their RIGHT to be heard are totally intolerant of the rights of others to worship in peace.
The more Political Correctness is thrust upon us by the Liberals, the more our freedom is infringed upon.
What ever became of Democracy, the rule by majority? It seems we are increasingly subjected to rule by any vociferous or downright destructive minority.

Re: Anti-war protesters attack Catholic parishioners in Chicago
Folks,
Just my usual homily on America in the new Millennium.
Government isn't going to do it for us, it's we the people who have to stand up, put on our battle-rattle (that's NOT literal) and retake our streets and our country and restore the values this nation lives and dies by.
Whether it's the 10-15% of radicals who the MSM has made appear to be the majority protesting or worse at recruiting stations, demanding that prayer is not appropriate in our schools, that elementary schools should teach alternative sexual life styles, or whatever, we ALL need to get involved and STAND UP. Far too many of our latest battles for the streets have been torpedoed by the use of local police to ignore violence and destruction by those radicals (Berkeley & DC) and that is unacceptable. In other cases the police have performed professionally and effectively. Irrespective of that, it seems that our elected representatives choose to ignore the will of 75-85% of the people while catering to the 10-15% of radicals out there. That 70-85% is beyond political party partisanship as our reps, GOP or Dem refuse to acknowledge our Rep or GOP wishes today.
We MUST stand up and do so NOW.
NO radical event or action should be allowed to take place WITHOUT our presence and opposition.

Re: Anti-war protesters attack Catholic parishioners in Chicago
After the Mass, I don't see why the folks there didn't take care of the problem themselves. All they had to do was take them out back and whip the crap out of them and send them on their way. Nobody would have seen a thing,so there wouldn't have been any witnesses!

From the flashes I saw in the video, I'd say the news media was warned ahead of time.

Re: Anti-war protesters attack Catholic parishioners in Chicago
Elm; the people should have beat the crap out of them and left them to languish in their own blood. The MSM present should have been included in the crap beating. Destroy the film they had taken and film them with their own cameras showing the blood running out their noses and pass the feed on to the station as a warning of bigger and better things to come.
It is time the 85 percent of this nation became activists again instead of passivists.
