Default Saying No To The Nanny State

By Lisa Fabrizio
March 13, 2008

Five years ago, when the smoking ban in restaurants first went into effect in my home state of Connecticut, I told a few folks who were happy about it, that it was only a matter of time before the government came after their private property rights or other issues that were near and dear to their hearts. Most people scoffed at my defense of the restaurant owners' property rights and one fellow actually said, ""The problem with you people is that all you care about is the Constitution."

Of course, the ensuing years only saw more government intrusion and some shocking court decisions eat away at the liberties of a proud, freedom-loving people. The case that most disturbed my liberal friends was the U.S. Supreme Court's shocking 2005 decision in Kelo v. New London, which essentially eviscerated the Fifth Amendment's proscription against depriving citizens of their private property except for "public use."

We better wake up to this and now, as we have been put in the place of competing for being a parent with the state. I will tell you the state can really mess children up, give the liberals just one year with your child and you won't know them . Why is it we have to fight this Christian thing over and over again , it is because these people just like Mr. Spitzer and Bill Clinton want to do as they please and not be chided or talked about over it , it is a coming of a new Sodoma and Gemohra where people will doing things in public that should not be done even be in private. The Communist idea is to control the youth and then you finally will control the populace. Watch your children with a close eye or the government will own them.

Yup..the Gov't has adopted my old saying for my kids: "do as I say, not as I do''........and they can diddle as Rome burns and snuff their cigars out in big back rooms.

Instead of crying his eyes out and begging for forgiveness, the Gov of NY gave a political speech, .........explaining how we should act, instead of the way he acts.

How does he know how to act...look where he is now?

Who are these people we've voted for?
They are fools.
And they are ''good fools'', cause they fooled us, before we voted.

In this case, Super Legislator Judge Croskey is following Peter Schweizer's book on this saying, Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy.

Elections matter. And that includes primaries. Because, unless the judge is elected by the citizens for fixed non-life terms, they are nominated by elected public executives and confirmed by the elected legislature, like the Federal and depending on the state.

And we must keep our citizens eyes on these elected hirelings by making sure they know that we are watching, or they will stray into the natural propensity of thinking that they are the masters and we are the serfs. They still are susceptible to our conservative feedback accountability, as we demonstrated by shamnesty thrice last year, including and particularly the liberal hirelings.

They seem genuinely shocked when citizens refuse to cede their parental rights to them so they can fashion their children into liberal clones.

This is so true.

As the liberal left denies its guarantee to every American across this nation. The left has only been allowed to strip our guarantees, by denying them to be taught, or even mentioned. When was the last time you heard a news source report of this republic. Have you ever looked at a history book that our schools now use to teach American history. The duties of every American, and their authority of rule to direct government representation is no longer in the picture. Frequently the media, our educators, speak long, and hard, of an American democracy, and of its benefit to the populace. Never once refering to the Republic rule which controls that democracy. Instead they are led to believe, to petition government, is too beg for personal needs, of a democratic authority. An indoctrination process the left, and unions, have profitted from for years.

A more valid connection could be made between seatbelt or helmet laws and The Nanny State than between smoking laws and TNS. A diner has a valid interest in whether patrons at the next table smoke; it is not possible to avoid being a participant in their smoking. "Smoking Sections" don't work! A driver has no significant interest in whether the folks in the next vehicle protect themselves, and the government taking such an interest is playing the nanny.

I live in New York state, and our laws prohibiting smoking in restaurants and certain other public places have accommodated our nonsmoking citizens, with minimal inconvenience to those who wish to smoke.

There is nothing wrong with having no smoking areas in restaurants, if the owner so decides, bit the federal gov has no right to compel a store or restaurant owner to have one.The last time I heard this was a free country, and if a rest. allows smoking, you don't have to go there to eat. We were supposed to be talking about judges dictating to parents whether to home school their kids or not. The law as i read it is your kid must go to school, but it does say what school. A school at home by a mother or another qualified person home schools them, I think the law is being followered. We need to raise up and demand that judges pass a test prepared by people with good common sense, and those rules be applied during hiring judges. Another thing that should be done is elect all judges, including Supreme Court Judges, and none of them should have a life time tenure. Being there for life, knowing they will not replaced, get cantankerous, and do things they should not. There is a limit to every thing, and this should be one of the first on the list.

What has political correctness run amok beget? 1) The tobacco settlement that lined the pockets of bloodsucking lawyers, which was the purpose from the beginning, and a lot of that money went into the coffers of the DNC. 2) McCain Feingold which gave us those wonderful '527s' like MoveOn and is only a short step further to the Though Police. 3) A paralyzed society, afraid to speak its mind for fear of being labled racist, bigot, homophobe ect. ad infinitum ad nauseam. Want more? It's all there in the posts previous to this one. Read 'em and weep.
