Default Rice Says Talks Should Resume Quickly

By ANNE GEARAN
Associated Press
March 4, 2008

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice pushed hard Tuesday to resume Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, despite the chaos and violence of a week that saw both Palestinian and Israeli civilians killed.

Walking away from talks plays into the hands of militants, the U.S. envoy said. She blamed Palestinian Hamas radicals for provoking an Israeli military onslaught in the Gaza Strip. The campaign has derailed an already troubled U.S-backed drive for peace terms this year.

''Negotiations are going to have to be able to withstand the efforts of rejectionists to upset them, to create chaos and violence, so that people react by deciding not to negotiate, '' Rice said in Egypt at the start of two days of efforts to rescue negotiations. ''That's the game of those who don't want to see a Palestinian state established.''

With all due respect to secretary Rice; she is trying to do an admirable job of tying together two opposing poles that automatically reject each other no matter how hard one tries.

IMO, these two factions are as compatiable as mixing oil and water an expecting cohesion.

Secretary Rice and our state department are trying to pick the "lock of success" with the same key that has failed every time.

Why we waste time, energy, and tax dollars trying to do the impossible is rediculous.

We should not feel one bit of guilt by backing out of "ineffective talks" that have proven too many times to be totally rejected by Hamas and Hezbollah parties and let them fight it out.

The only time peace will be achieved in that region is for Israel to completely destroy her enemies. Plain and simple.

Talking is seen as a weakness by the jihadists and they are not impressed. A greater force is all they respect... not words.

Just come back when the terrorists are dead and then maybe the peace process might work. Talking has not done either side a dang thing nor will it.

Talking Re: Rice Says Talks Should Resume Quickly

To give an analogy, this is like trying to get a can of gasoline to talk with a "lit" match!!

The only talk the terrorists understand is the rat a tat tat of a machine gun.
