Obama's International Socialist Connections

Campaign workers for senator and presidential candidate Barack Obama are under fire for displaying a flag featuring communist hero Che Guevara. But Obama has his own controversial socialist connections. He is, in fact, an associate of a Chicago-based Marxist group with access to millions of labor union dollars and connections to expert political consultants, including a convicted swindler.

Obama's socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) for an Illinois state senate seat. Later, the Chicago DSA newsletter reported that Obama, as a state senator, showed up to eulogize Saul Mendelson, one of the "champions" of "Chicago's democratic left" and a long-time socialist activist. Obama's stint as a "community organizer" in Chicago has gotten some attention, but his relationship with the DSA socialists, who groomed and backed him, has been generally ignored.

If Obama-mama wins the nomination, there is a good possibility his negative connections might just come back to bite him in the butt. BUT - we have to make sure the repub nominee brings up EVERYTHING negative - and it'll be dependent on US to make sure these facts are made public. Rezko is only the tip of the iceberg - global warming is going to reveal a lot more crud.

It's interesting that Schakwosky's husband served time and look at his connections. If I remember correctly, the dumbdems tarred and feathered Pirro (sp) when she was running against Hellory because her husband had been accused of wrongdoing. Since this bimbo was from Illinois and in a secure district, the charges against her husband weren't even mentioned - once. I am so thoroughly disgusted with Illinois politics and pols, I could puke.

IMHO - Obama-mama's golden halo may be replaced by charcoal horns.

I wonder if "good Americans" would vote for Obama if he outrightly admitted that he is a socialist? I wonder if support for "progressives" would diminish if the average joe voter realized that "progressive" means "socialist". Yesterday a woman called into the Glenn Beck show, an intelligent, well-spoken woman with some interesting points about the "progressives", whom she supports. When push came to shove, however, and Beck asked her if she knew where the "progressive" movement comes from, she admitted that she did not, but that she like the word because it means "forward thinking". She -- and undoubtedly millions of other Americans -- have no idea that the "progressives" are progressively taking us down the road to socialism, or worse.

I have YET to see anything that shows this guy is even American thinking, much less For America. All I see is an empty suit, willing to destroy the USA in order to gain power.

I don't understand how this guy has done as well as he has...he has few clear policies, & the ones he has are NOT in the interest of the USA.

Are people voting for him JUST because he's black? That is RACIST!

Mamacat, I think that most Americans don't know what a socialist is or that expecting the government to solve your problems is socialism.

I heard that woman on Glenn Beck's program yesterday. She loved the sound of the words and thought they sounded like they represented her but you're right, she had no clue at all what they meant.

Such ignorance may well be the end of America as we have known it.

Anyone who practices the art of "socialism" is practicing the art of communism. Socialism is one of the major components used by the communists to bring a nation down to it's knees dependent on the "Government" for it's survival.

One look at Russia gives you a glaring objective view of what happens to a country under this type of government. You are a total "slave" depending on a government to supply your every need.

If you think our way of life here in america is bad try living in Russia or China and see how well you do. You'd be buying a ticket back home in a heart beat.

Any candidate that leans toward socialism or even remotely hints at it is not good for this nation. I don't care how good they look, talk, or anything else they have that makes you think they're the top dog in the pack.

It's free interprise, no government interference, and the support of small business that supports big business that works. Anything else is going off the deep end with no return.

Obama is not good for this country with his liberal ideas and failure to recognize the standing with his hand across his heart when our national athem is played as pictured on the internet a few days back. Not very smart and I'm not impressed at all. And he wants to be president of my country with his foreign back ground and anti-american agendas? I don't think so...nice try...no cigar!
