McCain to Critics on Right: 'Calm Down'
By LIBBY QUAID
Associated Press
February 7, 2008
PHOENIX (AP) -- Republican John McCain, buoyed by Super Tuesday wins that pushed him closer to the nomination, told his conservative critics Wednesday to dial back the animosity and focus on issues where they agree.
''I do hope that at some point we would just calm down a little bit and see if there's areas we can agree on,'' McCain said at a news conference in a Phoenix airport hangar.
Reinforced by Tuesday's returns as the front-runner in the Republican race for president, the Arizona senator took a break from campaigning to return to Washington, where he planned to speak to a gathering of conservatives Thursday.

If he was in Washington, praytell, why did he not have the integrity to vote on this bill?
I'm calm. I'm calmly sure that I do not want this man to be the president of my country.

Re: McCain to Critics on Right: 'Calm Down'
Does anyone except Political Pundits listen to radio jocks anymore?
All I can say is, either people aren't paying attention to his record, or La Raza's bringing in an awful lot of 'His People' in to vote for him.
Heard one woman say she'd rather slit her wrists than vote for him... That's pretty bad.
Given the choice between Billary or McAmnesty, I'll just refuse to vote. I don't want the ruin of this country to be on my sholders.
If people think Bush is bad wait until Billary or McAmnesty takes office.

Re: McCain to Critics on Right: 'Calm Down'
Calm down? I am calm. You see Senator McCain the problem is YOU! I cannot agree with you on any of your pass "digressions"! You sir are -
Anti-gun
Anti-tax cut
Anti-marraige
Anti-STOP Spending
Anti-Republican - so there, see how calm I am?
I am just stating the facts. Just so you know I too will be staying home on election day. My beleifs will just not allow me to "Vote for the lessor of two evils"! You and the Democratic candidates are both evil for this country. I am sorry but I must "Just say NO" to both Socialism and Communism!

"Coalesce" Around McAmnesty? NEVER!
This makes me so angy that I'll be calling McAmnesty's Phoenix office as soon as they open! Number is 602-952-2410 Trying to call the DC office is a waste of time - all you'll ever get there is a machine - McAmnesty doesn't believe in having staffers communicate with us mere voters who are beneath his contempt. While you're at it call the RNC at 202-863-8500 - I've also reached them at 202.479-7000 but check that second number because I think they shut down their small-donor fundraising lines. The RNC will actually LISTEN to you, though whether anyone higher up - Boy Genius Rove, for instance, pays any attention, I don't know. I am going to call and tell them that if **** McAmnesty is the best candidate they can run, they'll have to do it without my vote and my MONEY!

Re: McCain to Critics on Right: 'Calm Down'
Someone with the temperament of a hot-headed drug dealer telling me to calm down? Mr. McCain should adhere to his own requests.
Once again, McCain comes across in a most condescending and arrogant manner as if these huge bones of contention with conservatives are merely splinters. How stupid does he consider conservative voters to actually be?
Maybe this is all a big front by McCain, the "liberal's best friend", to get the necessary cross-over votes from democrats? Once he's elected he returns to his anti-liberal, truly conservative stand? Sure... and I'm hitting the Florida lottery this weekend.
McCain's attitude suspiciously appears that he believes he is being nominated for king instead of president. Once crowned, all his minions will fall neatly into place.
Talk about the party of Reagan being in a truly no-win situation!

As the rapper Vanilla Ice once said, "Word to your mother"; DO NOT STAY HOME!!!
Go and vote to keep your Congressman and Senator (if running) if they are worthy or turn them out if they are Dems or RINo's.
The ONLY chance Conservatives have to make it through the next four years is to return congress to Republican control and even that is no guarantee given the likes of those who currently populate that august body with a -R behind their name.
Creeping Libealism has become a full fledged tital wave. It has overtaken our culture, politics and is working on hijacking Christianity.
These are perilous times indeed.

Voters on the Right to Critic McCain: 'You Calm Down'
Republicans are going to lose. You can’t out liberal the liberals. And the way we are going to lose is the conservative base is not going to vote for McCain (either by abstaining or by voting for a third party candidate). I personally plan to vote for Ron Paul as a “real” conservative (I suspect he will run as a Constitution or Libertarian Party candidate). With disaffected people from both parties Paul could actually pull off a Jesse Ventura upset. It was the arrogance of the Republican and Democrat elite that allowed Ventura to win.
