Default Romney Attacks McCain Legislation

By GLEN JOHNSON
Associated Press
January 28, 2008

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Republican Mitt Romney wound up his Florida primary campaign on Monday with his most bitter criticism yet of rival John McCain, saying three signature bills the Arizona senator pushed in Congress aimed the country on ''a liberal Democrat course.''

The former Massachusetts governor said the 2002 McCain-Feingold campaign finance law ''hit the First Amendment'' with its controls over advertising spending.

He labeled last year's failed McCain-Kennedy immigration bill ''the amnesty bill'' for a provision that would have allowed illegal immigrants to remain in the country indefinitely. And he said a 2003 McCain-Lieberman energy cap-and-trade bill would have increased energy costs for the average Florida family of four by $1,000.

Default Please! Kick RINO Juan McAmnesty OUT of GOP!

It's about time that Republicans came out swinging against this guy; he's been sticking the knife in the backs of real conservatives long enough!
McCain's worst sin isn't being a liberal; it's being a hypocrite, and a CORRUPT one at that! He finances his permanent campaign staff by putting them on the payroll of a phony "charity" created specifically to evade McCain-Feingold. He uses his influence with Big Media like Viacom to stifle criticism of his pro-illegal alien stance. Check out the FACTS presented by Roy Beck of NumbersUSA and Michelle Malkin. Any so-called "Republican" who votes for this "war hero" ought to be ashamed. It takes ignorance and laziness to be fooled so easily!

Wink Re: Romney Attacks McCain Legislation

It really is Unfoirtunate that we in the GOP have not been able to get behind TRUE conservative candidates.. Mac Cain so called Maverick history is too close to a true RINO.. His legislation record is questionable ( Feingold, anti tax, Immigration, "old Banking scandal implication") with his record of changing positions i cannot trust him to really move the USA towards a Realistic Conservative position...

at this point I's probably vote for Mitt who although not "perfect" in the RR legacy, at least is not Tainted by the Inner Belt Stench of Tell them anything to get elected and then SCREW the American Public...."
Time for Term Limits, No self appointed or anointed Congressional ROYALTY and return to " We The People" Government.. Small Government, Lowe Taxes, Independency on Foreign Oil ( yes we have domestic oil to extract) and Stronger pro American Expoerts Trade policies... TIME HAS COME,we have had Rotten politicians messing things up and may be a Business man can be given a try for achange!!!!

I know that Romney has to expose McCain for what he is, but I sure hope his doing so doesn't turn off voters, who may consider it negative.

If Romney will not bring to light these items then who will, it is not dirty politics to bring ones record up, And we must be sure that anything that McCain rebuts with is the truth . As far as I am concerned there are only two running now and that is Romney and Rudy , I lean toward Romney .
I thought he left one out about the freedom of speech that the dems want so badly to make go away with the unfair act of broadcasting and the bill that McCain co-opted with a democrat to make saying anything at all the last two months of the election a no no . that failed thank God for that . The GOP better wake up and the people that vote conservative had better vote this time, we are faced with two choices if we don't and those would bring insecurity and economic collapse to the USA.

It seems to me all Mitt is doing is revealing McCain's record, how that would be considered negative i'm not quite sure. I think a true conservative could never vote for McCain, he is much to comfortable siding with the likes of Ted Kennedy. The fact that McCain is the currently the darling of the drive by media tells me all i need to know.

Good, its about time though i hope he does it in a sneaky way and not a straight out slam though someone needs to let his campaign know about the Mexican official on his campaign as a so called unpaid staffer. Mr, Mexico first policy!

Unhappy Re: Romney Attacks McCain Legislation

What Romney says about McCains record is acurate & should be stated however; perhaps we should scruntenize Romney's record also. I do not believe there is a conservative left in the GOP Candidates. I'm tired of the moderate/liberal wantabe democrats similar to Pres. Bush.

John McCain has made a career out of stabbing his own party in the back. He's no friend to the constitution or the bill of rights. Why the GOP leaders don't kick him out is beyond me. I'm glad Mitt is bringing up his voting record. I hope he hangs it around McCain's neck and then tosses that pasty faced jerk into the sea of oblivion. McCain's POW status ran out the moment he stepped across the line to join forces with the left. Go Mitt! Kick that RINOs butt!
