We Can't Escape The Specter Of Vietnam

Oops, he did it again! When it comes to Iraq, obviously President Bush doesn't give a flying-fig about political correctness. Good for him. From the perspective of the political Left, the president had the audacity to invoke an Iraq-Vietnam comparison, as he counseled against a precipitous military withdrawal from Iraq, in a recent speech before the Veterans of Foreign Wars at their national convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Democrats, their buddies in the mainstream media, and all the other Leftist elites for that matter, are convinced that they alone have the right to raise the specter of Vietnam for their own political purposes.

The Dems wanted a "New Direction". With a new General Petraeus in command, there is a new direction. Afterall, Abe Lincoln replaced his commanding general 5 times before he found one he could win with in US Grant.

'Nam was ours to lose and we lost it by giving up before the job was done...we should still be there...that is the "specter"... things never turn out if you quit right in the middle of getting them done...i have more faith in the vietnamize than the iraqis because they aren't muslims...but we can't quit in iraq until the 25 million iraqi citizens proves that they dont want to form a non-american hating nation.
