Random thoughts on the passing scene:
A sense of logic underlies a sense of humor. The same professor who wrote the first treatise on symbolic logic also wrote "Alice in Wonderland."

Oh, yes! Plus, we have the ever-popular, "Why couldn't they have just shot him in the leg?" and, of course (in the case of shooting someone who is attacking with a knife), "They should have shot the knife out of his hand!" (Generally uttered by people who believe that TV and movie crime dramas truly reflect real life!)
