Nothing is more common than political "solutions" to immediate problems which create much bigger problems down the road. The current immigration bill in the Senate is a classic example.

The big talking point of those who want to legalize the illegal immigrants currently in the United States is to say that it is "unrealistic" to round up and deport 12 million people.

Back in 1986 it was "unrealistic" to round up and deport the 3 million illegal immigrants in the United States then. So they were given amnesty -- honestly labeled, back then -- which is precisely why there are now 12 million illegal immigrants.

Congress says it is "unrealistic" to round up and deport 12 million illegals (congress in the past and present created this problem by not enforcing the laws already on the books). Congress says we need to balance the budget (congress in the past and present created this problems by "pork barrel" funding and "ear marking" funds for individual members pet projects). Congress' solution: lie to the public once again (the public has been rendered insensitive to their lies). Notice the pattern. Solution: Limit their terms and their access to unbridled power. In the private sector employees and management who produced as little at as great expense as many members of congress would be down sized out of a job.

Meanwhile, in Ohio, and I suspect elsewhere, I am seeing TV Commercials telling me how the same Powerless State is going to enforce the "Seat Belt Laws" aggressively!.

I want Amnesty for me when I don't wear my seatbelt, or how about when I don't bother filing a tax Return? Suddenly the same "Powerless" government will become Almighty and come with Guns a blazing to arrest us law breakers with no hope of Amnesty.

No matter how they try to hide it, anything short of returning to their home country and getting in line behind those waiting to enter the US legally, is amnesty and rewards the illegal for breaking the law. Might have to leave your family behind? Awwwww. Here's a great idea, take them with you.

I listened to Mark Levin yesterday and one, no two of the things that really angered me were:
1.) that this bill would give the ICE one day, ONE DAY, 24 hours, not! (8 hours) to determine if the Illegal Alien had a record and should not be put on the road to AMNESTY. My goodness, It takes 3 days just to process a Citizen's application for a hand gun in some states. How are the ICE agents going to look through all the PAPER records to see if Benito Ladenez has a criminal past or is a terrorist? Yet the Congress claims that they have instituted a backgraound check. RUBISH!
2.) The ICE could not stop and deport someone who is ILLEGAL but would have to help the poor smuck get his z-visa!!!!!
What kind of ^&$(*#^ is this legislature? Let Cornyn, Hutchins, Inhofe and Sessions write (right) the Immigration legislature and we might get something that looks like the legislature we ALREADY have. If we can't enforce the current law how can anyone believe that we will enforce this, more complex Amnesty bill with its so called regulations.

Congress feels it is unreasonable to enforce the existing laws. Why would we trust them to enforce any new lawson this subject? The simple fact is that Congress - and the government as a whole - has been criminally negligent when it comes to border security. If 9/11 wasn't enough of a wake-up call, what will be? A suit-case nuke going off in downtown NYC?

This is the most important issue on the table in the post 9/11 United States, and their solution, in effect, is to give a full pardon to those who have broken our laws and abused the taxpayers of this nation to the tun of hundreds of billions of dollars since the last amnesty bill, while giving lip service at being tough THIS time when it comes to stopping the flow of illegals. This is unacceptible on every level, and borders on treason, in my book, as it undermines this country in many ways.

At what point in time did illegal aliens get more representation in this country than the taxpayers?

This once "gung-ho" Republican is now sickened by his x-party's lack of spine, almost as much as he's sick of the communists running the Democratic party - who tirelessly work to undermine the Constitution.

I have never before known of any legislation where our elected officials have so strongly opposed what the American people are calling for. Evidently they think we are too stupid to understand the depth of this problem, and I'll be the first to admit I am not aware of all the complications.

But I do have one thing that they do not have...COMMON SENSE!!

I am so angry at Pres. Bush and the reps who can't see the forest for the trees.
