Britain's Channel 4 has produced a devastating documentary titled "The Great Global Warming Swindle." It has apparently not been broadcast by any of the networks in the United States. But, fortunately, it is available on the Internet.

Distinguished scientists specializing in climate and climate-related fields talk in plain English and present readily understood graphs showing what a crock the current global warming hysteria is.

These include scientists from MIT and top-tier universities in a number of countries. Some of these are scientists whose names were paraded on some of the global warming publications that are being promoted in the media -- but who state plainly that they neither wrote those publications nor approved them.

It's very alarming to me that those with differing opinions are being silenced. What other issues are being silenced as well? This is what happens in former communist and socialist countries. It is not supposed to happen in the "land of the free".

Academics who jump on the global warming bandwagon are far more likely to get big research grants than those who express doubts -- and research is the lifeblood of an academic career at leading universities.

This has been all about money from the very beginning.

While the public has been led to believe that "all" the leading scientists buy the global warming hysteria and the political agenda that goes with it, in fact the official reports from the United Nations or the National Academy of Sciences are written by bureaucrats -- and then garnished with the names of leading scientists who were "consulted," but whose contrary conclusions have been ignored.

I was not fooled.
In the 70's we were warned of a coming 'ice age', the US was in a fast industry growth.

Watch TV, notice all the commericals dealing with clean air, bio fuel, foreign oil etc again it is all about the money and who gets it.

Yesterday I heard that the two women that went to the North Pole to find that the temperatures were getting warmer had to call off their expedition because the temperatures were too cold. -100 degrees. Also one of them had Frost Bite on her foot.
Hope she gets well.

Now here is the funny part. One of the ladies commented that they were extremely cold even though they thought that was ironic.
Then she said that Global Warming makes the weather 'unpredictable'.!!!! !!!

UNPREDICTABLE.

Inessence she said that Global Warming causes unpredictable COLD WEATHER!

What is it about these 'political' scientist that make them think they are wise? They don't even know what is going to happen that is until you put this junk science into the hands of the Love-Story model, Internet-creating moron Albert Gore!

Washburr, they started explaining why global warming brings on the cold a couple of years ago. I think that's when they started coppering their bets by using the phrase "climate change" rather than global warming. That way the ecochondriacs can jump whichever way the money goes. If it gets colder - that's climate change. If it gets warmer - that's climate change.

No matter how you look at it, they're correct and that money will just keep rolling in from the scairdy-ecocats.

ARTICLE ERROR ALERT!!
My First point is to highlight an inaccuracy in the article: The British Broadcasting Corporation did NOT produce this program!
nor was it screened on the BBC!
The programme was in fact produced by Channel 4 an independent network commercial channel in the UK.

As for the programme itself, it's aready ran into problems since it's screening in the UK 2 weeks ago.
First off, one of the most distinguished scientists that it featured said his views had been "grossly distorted" by the film.
Professor Carl Wunsch, professor of physical oceanography at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology said he had been "completely misrepresented" by the programme, and "totally misled" on its content. He added that he is considering making a formal complaint."
Professor Wunsch said: "I am angry because they completely misrepresented me. My views were distorted by the context in which they placed them. I was misled as to what it was going to be about. I was told about six months ago that this was to be a programme about how complicated it is to understand what is going on. If they had told me even the title of the programme, I would have absolutely refused to be on it. I am the one who has been swindled."

Secondly, the graph that the programme claimed to be from NASA, was actually based on a diagram in another paper produced as part of a "petition project" by the same group of climate sceptics. This diagram was itself based on long out-of-date information on terrestrial temperatures compiled by Nasa scientists.
However, crucially, the axis along the bottom of the graph has been distorted in the Channel 4 version of the graph, which made it look like the information was up-to-date when in fact the data ended in the early 1980s.

Mr Durkin admitted that his graphics team had extended the time axis along the bottom of the graph to the year 2000. "There was a fluff there,the original Nasa data was very wiggly-lined and we wanted the simplest line we could find," Mr Durkin said.

The programme failed to point out that scientists had now explained the period of "global cooling" between 1940 and 1970. It was caused by industrial emissions of sulphate pollutants, which tend to reflect sunlight. Subsequent clean-air laws have cleared up some of this pollution, revealing the true scale of global warming - a point that the film failed to mention.
