Folger urges conservatives not to settle for GOP frontrunners
By Jim Brown
AgapePress
March 13, 2007
(AgapePress) -- Conservative author and talk show host Janet Folger of the group Faith 2 Action believes GOP presidential frontrunners -- Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney -- are Republicans in name only. Meanwhile, she says GOP presidential candidates who actually agree with the party's platform are not even being considered by the mainstream press and many conservative leaders.
Folger calls Rudy Giuliani "completely unacceptable," describing the former New York City Mayor as pro-abortion and "anti-marriage." And as for Arizona Senator John McCain, she says he is "disqualified" because of his opposition to the Federal Marriage Amendment and his campaign finance reform, which she contends "blacked out free speech."

I totally agree, would not vote for any of them. There are others that are more in line with the conservative thinking. The Republican Party better be careful on who they nominate as a candidate. I would vote for Tancredo, Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich in a heartbeat (hopefully the last two will decide to run), they stand tough and that is what we need.

I do not know Janet Folger of the group Faith 2 Action. I visited her website and she seems to run a well organized message.
Does anyone know where she stands on Newt, from a position of his personal life issues as well as his dedication to conservative principles?

Re: Folger urges conservatives not to settle for GOP frontrunners
Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich or visaversa, what a ticket. They do stand tough and don't mince any words when explaining things. If conservatives help elect any of these other candidates to represent them, there goes our principles right out the window. The day of compromise is over. We either vote for someone that shares our beliefs or give the race to someone who believes killing babies is OK or believes same sex marriage is OK. Democrat or Republican. They will take our guns and appoint judges to the Supreme Court depending on which way the wind is blowing that day.

I totally agree with this article. I hope we end up with someone who actually supports the platform.
The rest are rinos.

Re: Folger urges conservatives not to settle for GOP frontrunners
It makes so happy to know I'm not the only one who thinks the Democratic party is trying to take over the Republican party by infiltration. If you have two parties filled with liberals, what choice do the real people of this country have? I'm not a member of the so called religious right, but I am a conservative and I am greatly upset with the phony conservatives who are the front runners in the Republican party.

Folger writes a great article. The more we see real conservatives speak up and tell it like it is, the quicker the elites will get the message, we ain't buying your RINO'S, send Guiliani,Romney and McCain to the wacky demoncrats where they belong, none will be President. It is sad that the top of both parties tickets are such unqualified losers who can do nothing but weaken and severly damage our Country in so many ways, all of them have the strong potential to make the anti-Americam despot Jimmy nonuts Carter look good,

Re: Folger urges conservatives not to settle for GOP frontrunners
Here we go again. Look, I love Fred T, Newt but I also know that they have waited too long to get troops on the ground , raise money and get an organization together. Now either one of them could actually be a king-maker. But, conservs like myself are not going to put my hat on Paul, Tancredo, Hunter, Huckabee who could never, never win a general election. McCain is through so so far it is now between Rudy G or Mitt. If Fred gets in , he could steal the nomination. Or, a Rudy G-Thompson ticket could be forged and that would actually have a chance to win a general, GENERAL-NATIONAL election. It would actually win some Blue states which none of the conservs often dreamt about could. The problem with our Party is we get in snits, sit at home and then Dems win. Dems unite. Will we? By Feb. 5,'08? For Super Tues. will decide the nomination. Period.

Re: Folger urges conservatives not to settle for GOP frontrunners
It seems all the Republican front runners are media driven and that concerns me. We aren't choosing them, the media is.
We need to be smart and choose someone who actually stands a chance of winning the presidency because the stakes are so high. If we attempt to elect the most conservative candidate who only appeals to the most conservative among us, we will lose because we need moderates and Independents to vote with us to win.
While looking at the candidates and the issues, keep the big picture in mind and think about the most conservative candidate who also stands a good chance of winning the election. Unless we win, we stand no chance of returning America to it's roots.
