Default Officials: Senate Democrats Seek to Narrow Mission of U.S. Troops in Iraq to Training, Fighting Al Qaeda

AP

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats are drafting legislation to scale back the mission of U.S. troops in Iraq in an effort that would reduce the broad war-making powers Congress granted to President Bush in 2002, officials said Thursday.

While these officials said the precise wording of the measure remains unsettled, one draft would restrict American troops in Iraq to combating Al Qaeda, training Iraqi army and police forces, maintaining Iraq's territorial integrity and otherwise proceeding with the withdrawal of combat forces.

The officials, Democratic aides and others familiar with private discussions, spoke only on condition of anonymity because rank-and-file senators had not yet been briefed on the effort. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is expected to present the proposal to fellow Democrats early next week for their consideration, according to officials.

If the Do-nothing-crats and their co-conspirators on the other side of the aisle (Spector, etc.) would take real meaningful action on anything in the interest of the American citizen that would be real news.

Unhappy Re: Officials: Senate Democrats Seek to Narrow Mission of U.S. Troops in Iraq to Training, Fighting Al Qaeda

The disgraceful plan by the Kerry-Levin Quislings on undermining the Commander in Chief should be noted by the voter. The fact that the Dems would put all their water in being so anti-war will come back to haunt them when Al Q or someother Islamofascist nutter blows up something again here on our homeland. Frankly, I hope the Bushies give the military carte blanche for whatever time they have left in office, to blast, bomb, kill as many of these thugs so that the Iraquis and Afghans have enough trained people to hold their own. The Dems are praying for a lost war to blame Pubs for all time that war is never an option. What chutzpah and what mindless behavior.

Thumbs down Re: Officials: Senate Democrats Seek to Narrow Mission of U.S. Troops in Iraq to Training, Fighting Al Qaeda

With their proposed authorization to repeal the 2002 resolution authorizing the war in Iraq, Harry Reid, Joseph Biden Jr., Carl Levin, Sens. John Kerry, Charles Schumer, Jack Reed, Russell Feingold are in the process of proving that they will not fight for the freedom of the USA. I believe their goal is to turn this country to Socialism and under the complete control of the UN. Regrettably, the UN will fail the USSA as they have in every country they propose to resolve wars.
And now just listening to the hens on the “View” it has become apparent these people (Dumorats), who are used to the safety this country has provided, don’t have a clue as to what danger they face.

Not a single one of the "dumocrats" have an idea about what is going to happen by removing our troops! After the "resolution" passed the house.......... just how long did it take for the news to come out that Osama was setting up new training camps on the Pakistani border? Do they not think they are getting ready for the complete annihilation of Israel? or are they there to just "play" war games????? These idiots are getting us ready for a bigger catastrophe than 911 ......... and quite frankly I don't believe THAT will wake them up. They will just find another excuse to blame Bush.

What these yahoos know about military strategy could be stuffed in the eye of a needle with room left over for Porky and Priscilla

I simply don't get how they figure this is going to help our country. Everything Ahmadinejad and other terrorists say sounds as though they have a pipeline to a Democrat caucus.

I believe the Demoncrats had better discuss their plan with Joe Lieberman and get his approval. Joe is one of the few who realizes that we as a Country are in deep trouble as it is, giving the Islamist Terrosists another victory as John Kerry,Schumer,Specto r,Warner,Clinton.Pel osi,Collins are apt to do will lead to another attack that will dwarf the 9/11 death totals. What will it take to stop these Liberal Wacko's from both parties. Hopefully Lieberman will cross the aisle if they try to stick it to our troops once again.

What is even more ridiculous, is these jokers believe cancel out their original vote to go to Iraq, and so they will be back in the good graces of the socialist.

Doesn't that smack of a failed presidential candidate's pledge that he was for something before he was against it. Something ridiculous like that.

It was ludicrous when Kerry made his denias in 2004, and the Democrats will look ludicrous when they all make their denials in 2008.
