Default The New York Times And The Gospel Truth

Robert Knight

As liberal politicians pose at churches, salt their speeches with Scripture, and insist that their aggressive drive for more government is pious obedience to the Almighty, they are getting powerful cover from the mainstream media.

The biggest help they are getting, apart from credulous acceptance of their sudden spiritual enthusiasm, is the media's demonizing of conservative Christians. Religion's okay only if it mirrors liberal opinion.

The New York Times has been in the forefront of the conservative Christian-bashing, running voluminous pieces that accuse churches of avoiding taxes and warning darkly that the Christian Right is on the verge of turning the United States into a Talibanesque theocracy.

There's nothing that the NY Times won't print as long as it slanders conservatives/ Republicans.

I think Mr. Knight gives the Times editors way too much credit. They don't only just avert their eyes, they aid and abet.

There are way too many leftwing churches in this country for them to keep dinging away at conservative churches.

As long as Pinch Sulzburger is running the Times it will remain the rag it is. My attitude towards the Times is this.

Hey NYTimes!

How about a nice bumper sticker..........

"NY Times lied, millions died".

( Referring to their unconditional love of Castro, among others)

The guy subbing for Mike Gallagher last night was talking about this type of thing, how the media can abuse Christianity and we let them do it. Well Christianity has a specific bunch of quotes allowing for this, the idea that heaven is not on earth and what happens on earth is not important. So it keeps happening.

Liberals love the "feel good" religions which believe very little is sin, and we are all going to heaven. It makes them feel good about their "low standards."

When I think of the New York Times, truth does come to mind.

Actually, one of the least utilized scriptures is what Jesus said to his disciples that he who has no sword should sell his tunic and buy one.* Thus we DO have the right to defend ourselves. We are just not to live by the sword. BTW, there were two different types referenced in scripture- the dagger, which is what Jesus meant and is a defensive weapon, and the offensive broadsword.
