Default Democrat leaders run afoul of ethics law

By Jim Brown
AgapePress
January 30, 2007

(AgapePress) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and two other Democrats who vowed to clean up a "culture of corruption" on Capitol Hill are under fire for violating federal ethics law. One pro-family leader describes the revelation as a "disappointing start" by the Democrat-controlled Congress but also "not a surprise."

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and two other Democrats who vowed to clean up a "culture of corruption" on Capitol Hill are under fire for violating a 1978 federal ethics law. One Family Research Council (FRC) spokesman is highlighting the violations as a poor showing from a Democrat-controlled Congress that claimed it would make history as the most ethical ever.

USA Today reports that Pelosi, fourth-ranking House Democrat Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, and Indiana Senator Evan Bayh all failed to disclose they are officers of their family charities. Members of Congress are required by law to file yearly reports on their personal finances, including any positions they hold with businesses or non-profits.

I would like to know of ANY OTHER press or news outlet carries this story. If any forum members know of it post it here, or send me an email.

I also loved the ending statement that Pelosi exempted a Tuna company from the new minimum wage law!!!

McCluskey points out, "This is exactly the charge that they were going after Tom DeLay about; he was trying to raise money for a family charity also."

A spokesman for Pelosi says her failure to disclose her charity role was a simple "oversight"

Let me get this straight: Tom Delay must resign and face possible charges, but Pelosi's role was a simple "oversight?"

Hmmm!

Is the MSM press asleep on this one? Or, are they left-wing reporters?

No! .................... .. Yer kiddin'! .......... How could this possibly be? A little sneaker by the speaker? Hidden in the weeds by Harry Reid?

Ethics. What those two know about ethics could be wadded up, stuck in a eye and have room left over for the Wisconsin marching band and 12 cheerleaders!!

a large tuna company in her California district had been exempted from a minimum wage hike pushed through by House Democrats.

The last I heard this tuna company was in American Samoa. Being in her own California District makes it all the more unethical!!

Angry Re: Democrat leaders run afoul of ethics law

Not one ethical charge over the last 15 years has really stuck to any liberal Dem rep. Not one. We can count them by lists and see how all of them were given cover not only the the MSM, the elites everywhere, but by some in the GOP too! If any Pub rep is accused, the accusation alone dismisses him or her and that is that. The GOP refuses ever to play hardball and thus they lose. Sorry, but nothing will come of any of these ethical charges. Not one. The GOP is too cowardly to follow up on them. Even our Justice Dept. is busy making cases against its own Administration. I am sickened by this double standard but apparently, the American voter is not!
