POTUS Gets Tough

So he didn't take my advice. Despite recommendations to the contrary in this column last week, President Bush announced Wednesday night that he's "committed more than 20,000 additional American troops to Iraq." That's the headline. But there's a lot more to the story. It's rife with risk -- and great opportunity.

First, the good news: The most important statement of the speech was an accurate description of the present situation. Said Bush: "The challenge playing out across the broader Middle East is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of our time." The president went on to acknowledge that "only the Iraqis can end the sectarian violence and secure their people," and that "failure in Iraq would be a disaster for the United States." He's dead right on all counts.

Though I have documented the bravery of Iraqi police and soldiers defending their own streets from terrorists, their courage has not been matched by elected officials in Baghdad.

Nor has our brave ones' been matched in Washington, DC... and on both continents therein lies the problem.

Ollie's right about the Arabic "Others" not willing to contribute anything to help fight the war on terrorism. All they're concerned with is how to keep American oil dependent and their own overstuffed money bags. What we need to do is inform these oil rich desert dwellers we are following Brazil's lead and will be using only alternative fuel from now on.

The last time Bush mentioned that... the price of oil dropped dramtically. Let them sell that over priced junk to the commies. They should further be informed by our government we have reached our limit of patience and we have no alternative but to remove ,from existence, the entire area since they have refused to cooperate in the war on terrorism and have been found guilty of secretly funding it since the beginning.

Let them be advised the "Party's Over" and they should hasten to make preparations for their next life which will not be to their liking!

Suggest they take pictures of what their homeland looks like now and burn it into their memory as apposed to what it will look like after we're through with it! If they want to survive the holocost they better start weaving some magic carpets to fly away on...oh yeah don't forget Alladdins Lamp in case you get caught in a pinch! Wanna bet?

Sorry folkes...but we just don't talk tough enough in my view. We need to be drowning these idiots everyday with threats of total annihilation just like they do us. What have we become? A bunch of pansies?
