Who Protected The Pervert Congressman?
Cliff Kincaid
GOPUSA
It's one of the worst congressional scandals ever. A top House Republican who denounced sex predators as "animals" stands accused of acting like one. Mark Foley had served as a Deputy Majority Whip in the House and co-chair of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children. His forced resignation, after being exposed as a homosexual pervert who talked dirty to young boys, has done more damage to the GOP than George Soros could ever think of doing. But it remains to be seen whether the liberal media and the Democrats can successfully exploit this scandal.
Brian Ross of ABC News broke the story and publicized the "sexually explicit" messages Foley sent to former congressional pages. Curiously, Ross never once used the word "homosexual" in referring to Foley's conduct. But if Foley acted out his Internet fantasies in real life, he will be exposed as not only a homosexual pedophile but a predator. The messages indicate Foley is extremely sick and demented.

Hastert Requests Criminal Probe of Foley
WASHINGTON (AP) - House Speaker Dennis Hastert requested Sunday that the Justice Department conduct an investigation into former Rep. Mark Foley's electronic messages to teenage boys - a lurid scandal that has put House Republicans in political peril.
"As Speaker of the House, I hereby request that the Department of Justice conduct an investigation of Mr. Foley's conduct with current and former House pages to determine to what extent any of his actions violated federal law," Hastert, R-Ill., wrote in a letter to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
The White House and Democratic leaders in Congress also called Sunday for a criminal probe. White House counselor Dan Bartlett called the allegations against Foley shocking, but said President Bush hadn't learned of Foley's inappropriate e-mails to a 16-year-old boy and instant messages to other boys before the news broke last week.

Joint Statement from Speaker Dennis Hastert, Majority Leader John Boehner and Majority Whip Roy Blunt on the Congressman Mark Foley Matter
Quote:
September 30, 2006
(Washington, D.C.) Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL), Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH), and Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) today released the following joint statement on the Congressman Mark Foley matter:
“Members of Congress are given the trust of the American people who have elected them to office. They are expected to live up to the highest standard by those who send them to our nation’s Capitol.
“The improper communications between Congressman Mark Foley and former House Congressional pages is unacceptable and abhorrent. It is an obscene breach of trust. His immediate resignation must now be followed by the full weight of the criminal justice system.

INTERNAL REVIEW OF CONTACTS WITH THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER REGARDING THE CONGRESSMAN MARK FOLEY MATTER
Quote:
On Friday, September 29, the Speaker directed his Chief of Staff and Outside Counsel to conduct an internal review to determine the facts and circumstances surrounding contact with the Office of the Speaker regarding the Congressman Mark Foley matter. The following is their preliminary report.
In the fall of 2005 Tim Kennedy, a staff assistant in the Speaker’s Office, received a telephone call from Congressman Rodney Alexander’s Chief of Staff who indicated that he had an email exchange between Congressman Foley and a former House page. He did not reveal the specific text of the email but expressed that he and Congressman Alexander were concerned about it.
Tim Kennedy immediately discussed the matter with his supervisor, Mike Stokke, Speaker Hastert’s Deputy Chief of Staff. Stokke directed Kennedy to ask Ted Van Der Meid, the Speaker’s in house Counsel, who the proper person was for Congressman Alexander to report a problem related to a former page. Ted Van Der Meid told Kennedy it was the Clerk of the House who should be notified as the responsible House Officer for the page program. Later that day Stokke met with Congressman Alexander’s Chief of Staff. Once again the specific content of the email was not discussed. Stokke called the Clerk and asked him to come to the Speaker’s Office so that he could put him together with Congressman Alexander’s Chief of Staff. The Clerk and Congressman Alexander’s Chief of Staff then went to the Clerk’s Office to discuss the matter.

I don't mean this as tit for tat. This Foley thing is disgusting enough, but a question that begs asking is, "who protected Gary Condit." Obviously nobody protected Chandra Levy.

Foley and the Blame Game
Quote:

The American Thinker
Pardon me, but I smell something very peculiar in the way we have learned of the disgrace of Rep. Mark Foley.
The email scandal which led to the resignation of the Republican Congressman is reverberating throughout the capital and the nation, as Democrats attempt to capitalize on bad news for Republicans. The seamiest of the released emails, which Foley has not denied, are right up there with Rhodes Scholar and Illinois Democratic Congressman Mel Reynolds’ taped phone conversations lusting for 15 year old Catholic school girls in their uniforms.
But Democrats are attempting to make hay by alleging that the Republican leadership may have known about the inappropriate emails and covered them up for months. Their hope, no doubt, is to discourage turnout by disillusioned evangelical and other voters sensitive to moral issues. But the emerging background detail suggests that this is simply not the case, and that an attack strategy has been devised by parties anxious to damage the GOP and swing the coming election.

Re: Who Protected The Pervert Congressman?
In every survey sent out by both parties this election period in asking what the greatest problem facing our nations was, our response has been the lack of morality. Beginning with "Mr. Kenndey (Ted)", "Mr. Clinton", "Mr? Frank (Barney)", and a whole host of our alledged representatives in Washingto over a period of 30+ years we have seen a deline in moral values. The media and entertainment industry flood our homes with values that distort the traditional moral values and polute the minds of our children and "elected" officials.
Its time to put a stop to all of this at the source.

My poll at www.gopusa.com/florida asks the effect of the Foley disgrace on November's election. Please provide you input.

Re: Who Protected The Pervert Congressman?
Seems odd that this breaks out just as voting is on the menu. The timing is great for the Dems and I wonder at the exposure at this time.
However sexual perversion is nothing new to the Dems and the old saying goes as to people who live in glass houses about throwing stones.
I do agree with this investigation and this would be a good time to clean House and Senate from all who do not live up to the standards expected of them as leaders of our nation. It would be nice to be represented by leaders who are beyond reproach in their lifestyle and actions. bb

Re: Who Protected The Pervert Congressman?
Obviously Muslims are not the only protected group on the liberal lists, the homosexual lobby makes sure of that. Too bad Christians did not make the list.
Yes, this is obviously a hypocritical hit job at an inopportune time for Republicans, but some things rise above politics, and we should never plunge to the depths of the Dems in protecting this disgusting behavior.
