Default California Senate: The Next NY-23?

Real Clear Politics

<snip>

The senators, some of whom are reportedly hosting a fundraiser for her in Washington later this month, include the GOP's 2008 presidential nominee and the Senate's minority leader and whip: John McCain (Ariz.), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Olympia Snowe (Maine).

<snip>

However, some grassroots conservatives around the country have already begun supporting California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, Fiorina's more-conservative primary opponent. DeVore, in an interview with RealClearPolitics, said the opinions of elected officials from inside the Beltway will hardly make a difference in the race.

"It's not surprising at all to me that the Republican establishment would come in behind her," said DeVore, who claims the support of 60 percent of Republican state office holders. "The only surprise I have is that it wasn't more than eight."

Fiorina: 'Shame on me' for not voting more

Quote:
By JUDY LIN
Associated Press
November 6, 2009

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Weeks after Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman was criticized over her poor voting record, U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina tried to fend off a similar line of questioning by owning up to her spotty past.

The former head of Hewlett-Packard, who is running for the seat now held by Democrat Barbara Boxer, said she has no excuse for not voting more often when people have died for that right.

"I'm a lifelong registered Republican but I haven't always voted," she said Thursday during an event in Sacramento. "And I will provide no excuse for it. You know, people die for the right to vote. And there are many, many Californians and Americans who exercise that civic duty on a regular basis. I didn't. Shame on me."

Apparently - this is the best we can do in CA.

I have NEVER missed an opportunity to vote. Period. End of discussion.

OKAY - my cynicism has just been validated. Read the other article on the GOPUSA sphere:

Is the Republican Party Going RINO Hunting?

Here, Steele talks about filtering out the RINOs, and yet, the GOP is still fundraising for them. UGH.

John McCain (Ariz.), Mitch McConnell (Ky.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Susan Collins (Maine), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Olympia Snowe (Maine) all NEED TO GO!!! if the GOP is going to move back to it's conservativism.

With this backing, I wonder is she a Moderate or a RINO? Is there a difference?
One thing different in California I believe is that there will be a primary held instead of just appointing a candidate like NY23 did.

With this despicable group of RINO's supporting her that is all I need to know. I wouldn't vote for her if she paid me.

I know, I've got my own GOP-establishment supported RINO right here in Florida named Charley Crist who has to be eliminated as well. He is not only a RINO he is SuperRINO.

You do know that all these groups are run separately, I hope. RNC is different from NRCC and NRSC. They're all headed up by different people and I was told a month ago that the NRCC and NRSC Chairs have lost control of their people and they're doing just what they want to do, not necessarily what the RNC wants them to do.

This is one reason why we receive so much mail asking for money from so many Republican groups, because they do not share databases or anything else. You almost have to take an oath and pay to get a database from another part of the Party.

It's very wasteful. I'll bet Obama has access to every Democrat name and tel. # in the U.S. Of course that's what Republicans are all about - individuality.

Here's another Fiorina clip with Neil Cavuto. I haven't watched it but he's usually pretty good at asking questions.

The Neil Cavuto interview is a good one. She sounds like a serious moderate to me, praising the bipartisan approach of John Kerry and Lindsay Graham on the climate change and energy independence issue. I also noticed that she was an advisor to John McCain in his campaign. Color me skeptical....
