I'm not sure about the new FBI reorganization. *I haven't really heard/seen what it entails so I can't really comment. *However, hopefully, they will learn from past mistakes and close the huge gaps in communication between the agencies.

The India/Pakistan thing is very scary. *After listening to Fox yesterday I am thoroughly depressed. *They feel it is their duty to paint the worst possible scenario ~ just how much damage could be done and how far the radiation clouds could drift and how many millions of people could be adversely affected over the years. *SO NOW THAT WE KNOW ~ WHAT DO WE DO? *Will it be any worse than the tests we conducted back in the 50's right here in the US that we later found out put many thousands at risk? :o *Personally, I think that they are sensationalizing this way out of proportion. *I'm far more worried about the possibility of a "terrorist nuke" right here at home. *And *I can't do anything about that either. *So, life goes on till it stops, is my philosophy. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif

There will be ceremony this morning at exactly 10:29 a.m. EST, the time the second tower of the World Trade Center collapsed. It marks the end of the cleanup and recovery effort.

Terri...Thanks for the chuckle of the day. I got more than that out of it. There are a few people I would love to send it to.

Rim...Great observation on the India/Pakistan conflict and how it is reported on. I am starting to think that the only reliable souce of information on the cable system today comes from the weather channel. Even then, they scream the warnings of gloom and doom for the whole east coast every time a high pressure system forms over the Atlantic during the hurricane season. :shocked:

I am also more worried about a terrorist nuke here than what the outcome would be for them but, if I were Bush, I would have a covert contingency plan in action just in case it comes to that to get over there lickedly split to seize and take control of all their nukes just in case the remaining Taliban or Bin Laden groups gets any funny ideas.

Enough playing and cleaning for me this week! I actually have to show my face at work today and make sure things are under control!

I was reading a little more about this stolen cyanide that they found in Mexico. The reports thus far leave me a little chilled. From what I can gleen from the reports, it still appears to me that at least SIX containers are missing. IF this is part of a terror scenario, perhaps they think this is all they can get across the border....and it's STILL a huge amount!

AND.....I understand that five middle eastern men have reportedly bought some special kind of diving breathing apparatus in Florida. Seems they didn't care about lessons to actually USE the equipment (which is very specialized) and from reports, they are not already certified.

Are we going to spend the rest of our lives trying to stay one step ahead of these terrorists? It appears to me that our ABC agencies are going to be playing proactive detectives until the end of time.

As for the FBI reorganization...I did watch alot of Mueller's speech. He sounded reasonable to me, and don't we know that that agency is in DIRE need of reorganization. Reading between the lines, it seems that the PC route we've been on is more or less disabled and they are going to be "going with their gut". He had to talk alot about "civil liberties" when it got to this point in the speech to try to quell the storm I'm sure is coming from the ACLU. Obviously, we don't know the details behind his words, but all in all, I was lukewarm pleased. We'll see as it all starts to play out.

If you're interested, I have ranted about the "Porn Lottery" now, and if you read it, it just might get your blood spiking in temerature.

Well, I better go. *I couldn't watch all of the 9-11 Tribute, it depressed me too much. *Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that we have officially ended the clean-up, ahead of schedule, but I get too reminded of the day that made the cleanup necessary. *I remember all the stories of loved ones lost, and it hurts. *I feel their pain (and unlike Clinton, I mean it).

Well, I'm going to get off of here. *I better go wash some clothes. *The laundry is back-logged.

President Bush has just announced that Rumsfeld will be sent to Pakistan and India to try to defuse the situation there.

Besides checking out the article that benerie posted you might also be interested in a story from Federal Judges who are practically begging the Senate to confirm more judges. The situation is approaching critical. I've posted a link for you to write to your Senator and demand some action. :bash:

The ceremony at Ground Zero was very moving. They rang the bells that they ring when a NYC firefighter is lost. The last big steel beam was wrapped in black and in an American flag. It was carried up the ramp on an 18 wheeler.

Taps was played by the NCYFD and PD bands. There was more and it was a very fitting tribute to the end of the cleanup.

Welcome to all our new members the past 2 days. Terri, seems as if we are adding approx. 3-5 per day, is that about right? RIM, thank you for calling me a whippersnapper; I didn't realize I could get away with that still at 37 http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif. RIM & Sue Elise, regarding the ID and language issues with voting, you guys should know that Florida has strict requirements of ID to vote, otherwise the entire flack about people being turned away at the polls for lack thereof wouldn't have occurred last election. As far as bilingual ballots/instructions, the question is, when does a courtesy become a "right"? I found out that Florida generally does provide bilingual ballots in counties where there are many Hispanics, but it is not a law that they do so. For example, there are no bilingual ballots or instructions in Sarasota County, it having the smallest minority population in the state (less than 4% of all minority groups cobined). RIM, I agree with you about needing to learn the official language in order to become a naturalized citizen. Within less than a decade, the same thing could perceivably happen to Hardee & DeSoto counties regarding language that happened already in Collier and Hendry counties; i.e., there being more people in those latter counties that speak Spanish as their primary language, to the point where you almost have to speak some Spanish in order to get around down there (those counties are over 60% Hispanic; Hardee and Desoto are predicted to be over 60% Hispanic by 2010). Given that we agree that everyone who is a citizen should learn English fluently, at this point I would advise anyone going into politics in a relatively high Hispanic populated state (Florida, Texas, California, etc.) to at least learn some Spanish to be able to campaign everywhere you need to.

* In a related radio story I listened to this morning, the great liberal state of Hawaii has added a state constitutional amendment that businesses and citizens are mandated to preserve Hawaiian culture including preserving Hawaiian language. It will now be taught at all public schools as an equal primary language to English, and there is even a University in Hawaii dedicated to teaching Hawaiian. This state mandate is on the borderline of the U.S. Constitution that says English is the primary language of our country (with no mention of being pre-empted by states). Anyway, enough ranting. You guys have a great day. Tonight Sarasota County GOP is opening our official headquarters; my son has to go to a scout meeting afterwards, so since he will be in uniform anyway, he is leading the pledge. Happy trails!

I've just been listening to Sheppard Smith interview a former INS official about the INS story that Jen pointed us to. Sheppard was nearly in meltdown over this but the upshot of it is just what we already know. Nothing much has changed at the INS. NYC was under a terror alert all last weekend but INS checks the terror list and says turn the guys loose. Now how do they know they are even who they say they are? Good afternoon: I thought after my headache subsided that this was going to be a great day, then I noticed the house was warming up. I checked the AC and had to call a serviceman. &#3678 later its working just finel. I am beginning to think I have a black cloud floating over my head. After seeing the ceremony at ground zero I got to feeling better - then heard that the INS didn't want to interview the 7 illegal Pakistani's. They said to let them go and join the other 8 million illegals. I still say that the president needs to replace the INS Commissioner, Ziglar. If something isn't done soon to remove all of the illegals, you and your children will live to regret it. I am old enough that it probably will not affect my life that much, but I am concerned for all the rest of the Americans. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks for the tip on the emoticons.

Afternoon guys! It was actually a pretty good day today. Only 10 more to go!

I heard about those illegals (some of whom I understand WERE on the watch list) being released! I was steaming!

Bobby - It's always too long from Superbowl to the first college games! Football is the best sport out there!

I didn't realize that it took so many years to become a citizen. I agree, that a certain level of literacy in English should be required, then. But remember - a few years ago (or maybe the last election?) it came out that Dems in CA were soliciting illegals to come vote?!? Does CA require ID? I know AZ does - I was pretty shocked when I moved to VA from AZ, because I was used to showing my DL. Reps in the state assembly have tried to introduce legislation every year for quite a while to require it. About all they've been able to accomplish is a VOLUNTARY ID check at the polls. Real effective!
