OH...and here's an interesting tidbit. *I spoke with a man last night who spent ten years as a "special ops" officer in the IDF in the 80's in their anti-terrorism unit! *He wouldn't go into alot of details, but just said that this stuff has been going on for decades and that what is going on now is nothing new, just more reported in the wake of 9/11. *The funniest part of our conversation was though that he claimed he was a "far right wing conservative". *I laughed and started asking him questions about just how "right wing" he was. *He admitted that he didn't vote for the Presidential ballot in the last election because he didn't think Bush OR Gore were any good....I'm waiting for him to say something like "I'd have preferred Alan Keyes or PJB" or something like that and instead he said...."I'd have preferred as President one of the Vice Presidents who were running"....to which I replied...."OH YEAH...I love Cheney" which is when he said "Ahhhh, no......I'd have liked Lieberman!!"!!!!!!!! *I broke out into a gut wrenching belly laugh (which was OK because I know this guy fairly well) and let him know in a very friendly kind of way that "No Dan, you are no 'right wing'"!!! *I guess he just couldn't get past the Jewish aspect of it all to get to the heart of the matter! *LOL

Well, they're funny to me. *But I've been awake now for a total of 20 minutes, so I may just be a little weird still.

I have a new name for the ACLU, and it is similar to "American Criminal Liberties Union". *It is:
"All Criminals Love Us" *OR *"All Communists Love Us".

Can you tell I don't like their extreme left-leanings? *If they fought for what they claim to fight for, I'd like them. *But they only fight when there is a chance of bashing conservatives (who are the true liberals, in that we want to liberate all people to be free and independent).

I don't know anything about racist dogs, but I do have a Siberian Husky that will bite anything or anyone. With the wife being blind, he gives me a measure of comfort when I have to leave the house. He also has some help from a German Shepard and a Blue Tick hound. They are better than any alarm system you could buy.

I've about had it with the civil libertarians and wanting more rights for the so called dirty bomber. Get all the information you can from him - quick tribunal and then the firing squad. To me that would be fitting justice. I believe anyone that sells out their own country should automatically lose their citizenship and all rights.

Did anyone else see the police news conference yesterday on Elizabeth Smart. It was really sort of bizarre.

Saber, you are so sweet to offer. We're fine here. Another 5,000 people were evacuated along a line west of the Springs. I suppose it would be 30-35 miles west. It's getting closer. There are towns there and many, many homes, schools, all the things of civilization. It's so sad.

Many, many animals are losing their lives and having their habitat destroyed but the environmentalists are having hissy fits over an endangered butterfly, the infamous Prebbles jumping mouse, and some other creature. Hello Greens!! Fire is natural! It's part of the ecosystem! lpara, the fires got no rain. It was all down here and this morning they are saying that the heat from the fire actually caused the thunderstorms. *The fire is so intense that it is creating it's own wind currents. It's just unstoppable at this point. It's moving north and south but not so much east or west.

Tisha, I know about that humidity down there. It's terrible. Wish we could import it to the firescene. Try to stay cool and dry.

Aberfoyle, glad to hear things are getting better north of the border. Just doesn't seem like the place for heat waves.

Hi All sorry I did not respond to what a super fire was yesterday I had a really crappy day and went to my favorite pub to knock back some Dem bashing beers.

A super fire is when two or more fires merge and become one fire. A super fire can jump Lakes Rivers and streams. A super fire can also increase the burn path and the burn rate so that it causes more damage. By looking at the maps of colo. A super fire could happen if it did not already happen. Also marks of a super fire include the command center pulling back fire fighters and smoke jumpers and letting the fire take its course until it hits a firebreak. The Command center would pull the smoke eaters aka front line fire fighters to save lives of those people. I heard this morning that the winds are once again working against the fire crews any truth to this Terri.

I also love how the ACLU and the other freaking bleeding heart liberals are worried about the rights of the Dirty Bomb suspect. In my book he and his evildoer pals have no human rights or American rights even if there are American citizens. Frankly because no one asked the people who died on 9/11 if they wanted to give up there lives and rights to, "Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" for so Evil Doers Agenda.

Terri, did you know that where I live and Windsor, Ontario (across the river from Detroit) are about level with California? *That's why we get heat and then being surrounded by the Great Lakes, we get humidity like ... *UNREAL humidity! *Some days we just have to stay indoors.

World Cup soccer is awesome! *I really enjoy the sportmanlike behaviour of the players (certainly not the fans in some countries). *Just now, I saw a Spanish player trip a South African player and go over and help him up and then pat him on the back. *There's not very often these things seen in our hockey games. *Also, when you think of it, these guys play for so very long with no breaks... 90 minutes of hard playing. *These are real sportsmen!

Saber....good questions of your friend. Most people think they are conservative, liberal or MODERATE but it is up to everyone else to assess where they are in the spectrum. A good couple of questions by outside observors can usually peg them pretty good. I have even watched political pros mis-position themselves, of course that MAY have been intentional.

Wild fires are natures way of cleaning up the living room. Animals and plants depend on them for a healthy living environment. Man screws things up when he tries to stop all wild fires. This leads to catastrophic mega-fires that are more destructive than the normal wild fire.

I will try not to let it happen again http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Had a great breakfast this morning with the Sarasota County Civic League and got to meet and grill (as in question) four circuit judge candidates for my district. It was a great opportunity, because normally I only get to meet partisan candidates, and then, usually just the Republican ones. The frustrating thing is not knowing their party (which they cannot say), or even be able to ask their position on issues, again, because supposedly it keeps them from appearing prejudiced when they take the bench. Therefore, it was mainly about their backgrounds, although an interesting question or two popped up, like their feelings on cases where a defendant represents themselves without an attorney. Still, hard to find out who is conservative and who is liberal with such limited information; I guess that's the point.

Terri, I figured when I saw you said it was raining last night, that the fires had finally melted the clouds. Seriously, I am sorry so much of the state's forests are being lost to fire. It will take decades for it to look unburnt. I have seen the same thing here, especially in North Florida.

Aberfoyle, it is funny you mentioned that coniferous tree, because actually that is in the Webelos book for Cub Scouts as part of the Naturalist pin. I am going to look it up tonight in my sons book and tell you which tree it is, but yes, it needs fire to have its seeds pop open and germinate.

Saber, I meet people all the time who think they are moderate, or even conservative, and after 5 minutes of conversation realize they are about as liberal as any Democrat I have ever met. Political definitions are lost on the general public...that is why so many people let the Republican party be "defined" by the left or the media (as if there were a difference):shake: Hence, Ann Coulter's book. At least she tried to explain.

RIM, didn't get much rain yesterday after all. It looked cloudy today, but thus far, never rained in Arcadia. Maybe later this afternoon (typical Florida weather pattern).

Mark, I think the Hayman fire qualifies as a super fire on all counts except two fires merging. Many Democrats are whining because Ashcroft announced the arrest of the dirty bomber at the wrong time. I saw the racist dog on MSMBC earlier - looked like any other German Shepard. The mother of the 9 year old that got bitten wants the dog put down. The police said the dog was going to help his handler and got excited due to all the screeming and jumping around. If you watch Bad Boy on Fox when they go to make an arrest in some neighborhoods, you will understand. Momma should have kept the boy away from the action.
