Once again, our good friend Jon Christian Ryter expresses his wit and wisdom...

Boobs, crotches, and the half-time
titillating television sex show

By Jon Christian Ryter

* *Let's face it. *The freak show that happened during the Super Bowl half-time program was not appropriate for "family" television. *Apologies from Janet Jackson and her talentless accomplice, Justin Timberlake, simply doesn't cut it either. *Jackson devised the scheme to jumpstart sales on her new CD that was released on Monday, Feb. 1. *What happened was no accident, nor was there a malfunction--except in the defective brain stems of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
* *Timberlake, whose only claim to fame is his faulty relationships with equally talentless half-naked, gyrating pop singers, joined the Jackson plot in order to jumpstart his own career that has been going nowhere since he was dumped by the equally talentless Brittany Spears.
* *Add to that insult the sexual gyrations and crotch-grabbing rappers who apparently equate sensationalism unintelligent ranting with talent, and you have a program that should not have been shown on TV before midnight--and then should have been shown on pay-per-view to spare unsuspecting channel surfers from being affronted by off-key guttural gibberish.
* *After the Janet Jackson flap (which is getting altogether too much media attention) CBS executives were quick to jump up to the microphone and denounce her, claiming that they had seen and approved the musical skits that were to be part of the half-time program, and Janet Jackson exposing her right breast was definitely not on the entertainment menu. *The fact that CBS approved the rest of the trash that was shown tells you there is something lacking in the moral character of the CBS executives who viewed, and approved, the skits. *CBS executives somehow managed to select a regularly scheduled prime time family line up of sitcoms and drama series second to none on television. *From "Everyone Loves Raymond" to CSI to "Joan of Arcadia," CBS has measured up to the programming yardstick they established during the early years of television. *Yet, their news coverage has fallen an inch or two short, causing a leftward slant that actually makes you turn your head at an angle while watching. *Their "special" programming is even worse. *CBS threw the yardstick away and now measures morality and integrity with sensationalism. *From the deliberately biased, revisionist "The Reagans," to their crotch-grabbing Super Bowl program, there is something ethically and morally bankrupt about the people who select and approve these programs. *CBS needs to learn they can't have it both ways.
* *Further, the parents of America need to ask themselves whether or not they should allow their children to watch MTV if that is the type of fare that our kids are exposed to on a daily basis. *MTV should be a pay-per-view channel, with access blocked from anyone under the age of 18.
* *Defending his network, MTV chairman and chief executive Tom Freston defended his half-time show by saying the network had been "punk'd" by Janet Jackson. *What in the world does that mean? *From what was shown on CBS during half-time, what Janet Jackson did was one small step beyond the traditional fare for that channel. *Jackson and Timberlake immediately claimed what happened was an accident. *But the media people who interviewed the costume shop where Jackson's outfit was rented learned that Jackson had planned that titillating surprise all along--to get a few million dollars worth of free advertising for her new CD. *It was also learned that after CBS approved the Jackson-Timberlake number, Janet and Jason rehearsed the number with the breast-grabbing, dress-ripping sequence.
* *The American Family Association, Focus on the Family, and other family-values groups across the country filed complaints with the Federal Communications Commissions and with several Congressmen and Senators, demanding that the FCC clamp down on the television networks, and urging lawmakers to enact new legislation to ban displays of lewd behavior from time segments deemed to be "family viewing" when children are watching television.
* *Tragically, what we watch on TV is a reflection of the moral character of the viewer. *Trash TV is becoming more commonplace on the primary earth station networks in America because we have allowed it to become more commonplace. *Trash TV has existed since the advent of satellite TV, but until the major networks began buying up the trash TV networks, the trash remained confined to satellite network garbage cans that were viewed only by those who wanted to pay for the privilege of slopping in the pig sty. * Once the major networks began to buy or create their own satellite entities, trash TV found its uninvited way into our living rooms in a bigger way. *We have allowed morally bankrupt TV executives to poison our minds and the minds of our children. *Only we can change it back. *We need to haul out the trash and serve notice on the TV industry to clean up their act or we will boycott every advertiser that spends a nickel on their networks--and then do it.
* *In conclusion, I am of the opinion that it's time to jettison all of the Jacksons--Michael, Janet and LaToya and Michael's brothers and parents who jealously fed off Michael's success and live under the illusions that the Jacksons are somehow entertainment "royalty" and should be judged by a different standard than the rest of us.

Good article.

Amen.

I had not heard this. Although I'm not surprised since Justin tried to lay te blame at the feet of the costume. Now we see that he is a talentless liar too.

Since the first time I saw one of the rappers sing (?) I've wondered if perhaps the music (?) somehow subtracts manhood and they keep checking to see if all is well. That was my last time, also. We used to have a neighbor that did the same thing and I stayed away from him, too. I will carry this no further.

Perfect analogy Ms. Charie! http://65.17.231.173/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rotflo.gif Or perhaps they are rearranging a few itchy parasites. http://65.17.231.173/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laff.gif Maybe I better not go much further either. http://65.17.231.173/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinangelA.gif

I just clicked on a site that was continuosly playing the video,

it was a cooking site and they were doing janet jackson cup cakes... ah hem... anyway...for the first time I got to see the video, and it was in slow motion, she took the time to shake her hair back and forth , flip it both ways before she covered up.

Anyone else shocked at being undressed would have covered up right away, not flipped her hair before hair both ways..

It was no accident... wouldn't a man be in jail by now? Why the double standard?
