pRIM, you stated one reason that I will not run for office. *I'm not P.C. at all. *I call a spade a spade (and to Leftists this is probably a racist comment, but I don't think it is).

And that brings me to a "talking point" as O'Reilly would call it. *Has anyone noticed how P.C. it is to say (for example), "African-American", or "Hispanic-American", or any other hyphen (and sometimes just two words without the hyphen)? *This is from the Leftists, mostly, though I feel some conservatives get caught in it.
I don't know about you all, but I'm not a "Caucasian-American", I'm and "American". *Why is it that these leftists who are so big on collectivism and inclusiveness require us to call people by their skin color still? *Yes, it is a good thing to know when a crime is being solved (say, a white person robs a store, you aren't gonna want to waste time looking at black people and hispanic people are you?). *But in every-day conversation, why bring up race?
Now, to me, a "true liberal" (which is how I define much of the Republican party, actually) acknowledges only one race, the human race.
With the leftist approach, we will never know a society where "our children are judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin." *(And just in case you are wondering, which no one really should be unless you're about 10 years old, that was said by Martin Luther King, Jr.)

Note: It was apparently proven a few months ago (maybe as much as a year ago) that Martin Luther King, Jr. plagarized on his doctoral thesis (or whatever paper he wrote), and he no longer holds the title of "Doctor". *The mainstream press didn't cover this much at all (because the left uses his image to promote their cause, hijacking his true goal, and the press doesn't want to harm the cause of the leftist movement, being leftist itself).

Well, that being said, I think I'll go now and see what's on other forums.

Oh, this was too funny to pass up here! *Here's a joke to get you all laughing:

Almost 150 years ago, President Lincoln found it necessary to hire a private investigator - Alan Pinkerton - for personal protection. *And that was the beginning of the Secret Service (SS). *Since then, we have had many muti-letter agencies, like the FBI, CIA, INS, IRS, DEA, and so on. *Now, we have the "Federal Air Transportation Airport Security Service." *I can already see these highly trained officials, in their cool sunglasses, their ear0pieces showing via wire, and wearing that black suit that looks like it came from "Men In Black". *And I can see their initials in big, bright letters across their backs. *"FATASS". *I feel safer already . . . .

Why didn't the President hear it? *Read the story here (http://gopusa.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=6&topic=223)

Good morning to everyone in the http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif !

Welcome to all our new members. Please jump right in and start posting. I think you'll find the discussions to be very interesting.

This is going to be a busy week down here in Texas. This weekend is our Republican state party convention. There are a number of rules changes being proposed this year, and they're causing quite a stir. We'll probably start some threads in the "Activism" section later today.

We'll have several GOPUSA reporters covering the convention, so we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Have a great day!

Good morning all. Thank you pRIMrose, I now have had my 15 minutes of fame - a type of headache named after me. LOL. I hope yours didn't last as long as mine.
Angelus, glad to hear your not PC - we could probably hold an intelligent conversation. Did you see the article on the Board of Regents tests in NY - they have changed the wording of authors, on the test, so as not to offend anyone. Instead of fat, they say heavy, instead of skinney they say slender, etc, etc,. I understand some of the authors were quite upset having their works censored. I guess my day will consist of a little house cleaning and then take my wife to a doctor's appointment this afternoon. She has had lower back pain since her stroke in 1996 and we are trying acupuncture for the first time. This will be our third appointment and it seems to be doing some good. If it can give some relief and get her off the pain pills, it will be worth the cost. The regular doctors have run every test available and can't give any answers.

Has everyone contacted their elected officials re the Illegal Immigrants? Stay on them and we can get some results.

Have a great day all.

Actually the experts are divided on Global Warming but we should expect some probably because we are just warming up
from the Little Ice Age. Here's a quote:
Experts disagree on the duration of the Little Ice Age. Some mark its inception as early as the 1200s, others view the Little Ice Age "proper" as beginning around 1450 or even later.
Disagreements arise because the phenomenon was not simply a giant cold snap. The cooling trend began at different times in different parts of the world and often was interrupted by periods of relative warmth.
All agree, however, that it lasted for centuries, and that the world began emerging from its grip between 1850 and 1900.
So if we are getting warmer then that means mowing the lawn twice a week. ;-)

Aknauta, it seems typical of the leftwing that they are arrogant enough to think that we have changed the earth rather than any warming being part of a natural cycle. Here's some more interesting info I found on this subject. New Energy Bill Would Enact Kyoto (http://gopusa.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=6&topic=226)

The report that was submitted to the UN seems to indicate that we plan to do nothing about global warming but acknowledges that we are partially responsible for it. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif That is not proven.

Saber, photos are welcome whenever you are ready. No pressure. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Warm Mineral Springs (South Sarasota County) has one that is about 500 acres now. I fear a long hot relatively dry summer. Here's an excerpt from an article by Sen. Charles Hagel R-Neb: ~ September 1997

Quote

What this means to everyday Americans is pretty clear -- it's been estimated that stabilizing emissions at 1990 levels alone would double electricity prices, and would require a tax equal to at least 40 cents a gallon gasoline. The AFL/CIO has estimated that the treaty would mean the loss of 250,000 to 500,000 American jobs. Jerry Jasinowski, president of the National Association of Manufacturers, testified that the proposed treaty would hurt American manufacturers, workers, and families, with little or no environmental benefit, since new restrictive policies in the US simply would force the flight of US investment to developing countries. Millions of Americans would lose their jobs and American manufacturers would take a severe hit in the marketplace.
Hi Everyone...

Well, the Jubilee Celebrations are over for this four days but the year is only 1/2 over. The Queen will be travelling to all of the Commonwealth countries during the year and we'll have her in the fall.

Yes, RIM, the number of people turning out was something that even the planners of the event had no idea about. They planned for maybe 1/2 million but there was over a million people in the mall to greet her. I got up at 5:30 a.m. this morning to watch today's events on the television live and I'm not sorry that I did. Today ended four FULL days of celebrations.

RIM, I have to still plant my flowers and you're watering yours!

HEY!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif HI THERE TEXAS!! *AND.........DRUM ROLL.........

WELCOME TO THE SQUAD FLORIDAGUY! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *You've got alot to teach some of us about campaigns and the inside workings of politics!

OH TERRI! *DARN IT~ I've just seen your post about Tancredo and I've missed the show! *Can you give us a synopsis...I wouldn't have been able to stand Begala the Forehead anyway!

RIM~~~~are you feeling better today?

HI http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Aberfoyle! *You really were committed to the Jubilee to get up at 5:30 in the morning! *Such dedication girl!

Der Alte~~~~~how did the doctor appointment go? *I sure hope it helped your wife.

HI TISHA! *How was the swim? *With all the rain we've had, I could just go take a dip in the lake that has formed in the lot next to us! *The ducks think they've gone to heaven!

Hey Aknauta! *You crack me up with your http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/peepwallA.gif . *It's becoming your "signature"! *LOL

OK...off to watch the Stanley Cup and cheer like he## for the Canes! *Talk to you all later!

OK guys. I don't have a good picture of the driveway yet, but I've been experimenting on pictures of our koi pond. Terri has had to help me with this....so....let's see if it works:

Well, Crossfire is not a show I will watch again but then I knew that. Tancredo was able to make a few points but the hosts are so full of themselves that it's ridiculous. After a long, long diatribe by the PC side Tancredo was not allowed to get a full sentence out in rebuttal. They ran out of time. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif

Mark do you work 12 hour shifts?

RIM, I'm really disgusted about this global warming report from the Bush administration. I have my hammer out. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif

I saw the Queen's flyover too. It was very impressive. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Any excess water of any kind is welcome here. We don't even care if comes from the koi pool.

Not sure I have what it takes to watch hockey tonight but I am pulling for the Canes! No doubt about it!

Of course it works. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif

Isn't it gorgeous!

Saber, I love koi! They taste like chicken. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif (that was a joke, of course). Terri, I am pulling for the Canes, too, but mine are the U of Miami Canes. They are in the NCAA baseball tournament. They play next against the SC Gamecocks after beating the Gators (our very favorite team to beat). http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

WOW!! The Koi pool is beautiful. *And the picture came out great. *How did you upload it? * And yes, I'm feeling much better today ~ it's 9:15 and I'm still up ~ http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Aberfoyle ~ you're right, I never would have imagined so many people in one spot ~ it was just so inspiring. *My husband's family emigrated from England and settled in Kentucky ~ Harrodsburg. *

Terri ~ I missed Tancredo, but I'm not in the least surprised about the outcome. *I quit watching Crossfire long ago. *Bill Press was just so. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif *I know he's not there anymore but I'm sure they have someone just as obnoxious to replace him. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

KT4CCC ~ You're gonna be the richest guy in the graveyard. *When do you get time off? *48 hour days! :o *

Well everyone, I have had a . . . . . day. That's all I'll say. Overall good, but I watched Schindler's List (my girlfriend talked me into it, and it was depressing).

I get to look forward to a good weekend! I get to go bowling (and hopefully score more than a 3 . . http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif)

Well, right now I am working on the third movement of my "symphony". It's based on "Were You There", a powerful song. And I'm also writing some more of my anime-based story. Funfun.

Well, I better go see what's up on the other forums. Maybe I'll even reply to some http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/peepwallA.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif *I've come out of my "hole" for a minute to read the news and catch up. *Hope everyone has had a good day. *Congrats to GOP"GUY". *I always learn from your posts. *

I have been working on my son's board all day. *All pictures done--now I'm working on some sayings on the computer. *Our friend's, son's x-ray was normal. PTL!! *He still has to go for another test on Monday to make sure, but we're all hoping it will be good.

Aberfoyle, did you even go to bed?!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *I wish I could have seen all of the celebrations! Will you get to see the queen when she comes?

Terri, I've heard about the fires there. *They said by tonight 85% should be controlled--hope so. *

I was able to listen to Rush and Sean Hannity today. *I found myself really agreeing with them on how GW is losing ground on the domestic front. *I am weary of people whining that we should all be glad that Gore isn't in office--if you ask me people think there is no accountability as long as their guy is in office. *Also, Rush talked a lot about people comparing Bush to Clinton and thank God that Bush is better than Clinton--Rush was right when he said that the standard is awfully low if you are going to compare to Clinton. *Who wouldn't be better than Clinton? *That's not saying much.

DerAlte--hope your wife is doing better after her treatment. *Back pain can even be worse than a "DerAlte headache!" *My husband has trouble with his back at times. *It's a bummer!

I listened to about 30 minutes of the Canes game on the radio--not my cup of http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif *It's probably better when you can "SEE" what they are doing!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *Last I heard it was 1 to 1. *Hope they are winning. *Today on the radio they were trying to get suggestions of what to throw on the ice since the Redwings throw octopi. *Suggestions--biscuits (without the gravy), Rock salt (on the redwings side only) and I can't remember the others. *

Hope it has stopped raining in Chicagoland. *We could use some "down" here. *I am tired of watering the grass and flowers! *Plus it would be nice to get a cold front too. *

Angelus, you're right about everything being PC'd to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dead.gif *Frustrating and I guess we are all in the same boat in calling a spade a spade. *That's why we are REAL conservatives! *

Well off to read some news! *Have a good night everyone!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gifhttp://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

I'm so glad that the fires are starting to be under control in the USA. That's good news. The news in Canada is not so terrific. They are getting worse.

Two more communities placed on alert as northern Alta. fire continues to grow (http://canada.com/search/site/story.asp?id=B6ABA5B B-7800-4746-9FA0-39518B39315C)

This is bad news indeed. And that's in Alberta and Ontario has the same problems that are getting worse.

There are reports of another bombing in Israel. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Mark, I don't know what you do but those are very long days. :o

RIM, they are just as obnoxious on Crossfire as ever and I didn't even see Carville. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dead.gif

Floridaguy, I guess there are Canes all over the place down there. Just so you don't have the ones with hurri in the front.

Angelus, I've heard thats a very depressing movie but one everyone should see. One of these days I'll rent it.

lpara! Congratulations! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif This is super. Maybe I'll find the strength to watch by the next game. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif The Canes have class. They don't need to throw anything on the ice but the puck.

Aberfoyle, I hate to hear of more fires. Our cool weather helped ours. They have a really good handle on it now as lpara reported. Over 100 homes were lost. It is the most destructive fire we have ever had. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
