Welcome to our members and to our guests. We hope you register and post. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif We like new members.

The news yesterday was very fast paced. Arafat is now free to leave his compound. The Church of the Nativity standoff continues. There was a furious firefight there that resulted in a fire inside the bell tower of the church. :sad:

American forces have been taking fire on the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan. A rocket attack missed but the local tribes in the area are organizing resistance. They are looking for Al Queda. Reports are that this is a joint operation with British and perhaps Canadian troops.

Newsmax is reporting that Jesse Jackson may be indicted for funneling tax exempt money into Democratic campaigns. I'd say it's about time. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/nopityA.gif *

There are lots of interesting discussions posted in the Forums. If you don't see what you want to discuss you are welcome to start a thread on your new subject.

Do any of you have Sunoco gas stations where you are? *They are advertising Saudi free gas. :shocked:

In a few days I'll be doing some reorganizing and adding to the forums. If anyone has any special requests please send me a PM or an e-mail. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

Wakey, wakey!

Here's something to help you with your morning coffee!

Subject: Al Gore
Given that Al Gore has no job, he decided to take a sightseeing vacation to Europe. While visiting England, he is invited to tea with the Queen. *He asks her what her leadership philosophy is. *She says that it is to surround herself with intelligent people. *He asks how she knows if
they're intelligent. *&quot;I do so by asking them the right questions,&quot;
says the Queen. &quot;Allow me to demonstrate.&quot;

She phones Tony Blair and says, &quot;Mr. Prime Minister, please answer
This question: &quot;Your mother has a child, and your father has a child,
And this child is not your brother or sister. Who is it?&quot;

Tony Blair *responds, &quot;It's me, ma'am.&quot;

&quot;Correct. Thank you and goodbye, sir,&quot; says the Queen. *She hangs up
and says, &quot;Did you get that, Mr. Gore?&quot;

&quot;Yes, ma'am. Thanks a lot. I'll definitely be using that!&quot;

Upon returning home, he decides he'd better put some of his old friends to the test. He calls Bill Clinton and says, &quot;Hi, Bill. I wonder if you can answer a question for me.

&quot;Why, of course, Al. What's on your mind?&quot;

&quot;Uhh, your mother has a child, and your father has a child, and
this child is not your brother or your sister. Who is it?&quot;

Clinton hems and haws and finally asks, &quot;Can I think about it and
Get back to you?&quot; Gore agrees and Clinton hangs up. Clinton
immediately calls members of his old staff and they *puzzle over the question for several hours, but nobody can come up with an *answer.

Finally, in desperation, Clinton calls Colin Powell at the State Department and explains his problem. &quot;Now look here, your mother has a child, *and your father has a child, and this child is not your brother or your *sister. Who is it?&quot;

Powell answers immediately, &quot;It's me, of course, you *idiot.&quot;

Much relieved, Clinton rushes back to call Gore and exclaims,
&quot;I Know the answer!! I know who it is!! It's Colin Powell!

And Gore replies in disgust, &quot;Wrong, it's Tony Blair.&quot;

<span style='color:purple' >http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif Can't seem to get going this morning. *

Welllllllllllll, yesterday was interesting. *All I can say is &quot;steel magnolia&quot;. *One hundred twenty pounds of &quot;pile driver&quot;. *October can't get her fast enough. :shocked: *Don't get me wrong. *She was very nice and pleasant enough ~ then set about cutting everyone's hours and saying she expected 110%. *Since I'm only working for insurance, I quickly offered to cut my own hours ~~ pre-emptive strike ~ (hehehe). *On a good day we have four or five employees at any given time ~ to manage, maintain and run a full line, full size hardware store. *And only I know where all the bodies are buried &lt;evil grin&gt;. *So, like I said, this is going to be verrrrrry interesting.

SR ~ the &quot;boob lady&quot; reminds me of the ads over at CHB. *I once mentioned that I found it offensive to be bombarded with &quot;bullzeye.com&quot; ads and nekkid babes advertising their wares.:o *Of course, the owner and male members of the board were conspicuously silent and the ads remained. *Wonder why? :turquoiserolleyes: http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Aberfoyle ~ I kid you not, I was reading your blurb about Al Gore and happened to take a sip of coffee and nearly choked to death. *ROFTL *

Aknauta ~ I am still trying to weed out my pictures. *Did I mention that something happened to the lens of my camera and many of them came out fuzzy. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *

Sounds like Bobby is/had an interesting lunch. *IMHO, it won't matter what questions he asks ~ you only get lies and distortions for answers. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif

Terri ~ I haven't seen a Sunoco gas station in these parts in years and years. *However, if what you say is true, my suspicious nature would kick in and say ~ don't go there. *They are probably pumping watered down gas or something lethal to the motor in your car. *

Looks like I'll have a little more time to read and post now that I won't be working as many hours. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Hi http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif !

SO! Thank you Terri for looking up what I was supposed to do with boob lady! I knew it had to do with the temp files, but since I never &quot;dump&quot; them...I couldn't remember how! Anyway, I did do it again last night and I was STILL getting the darn ad. I solved the problem for the night though and went to bed! LOL I've only been on the computer for a few minutes this morning and I haven't been greeted by her YET...so...we'll see!

&quot;One hundred twenty pounds of &quot;pile driver&quot;.&quot;

RIM.....now THAT is hysterical! What a description! I've got her visualized perfectly, I'm sure! It certainly does sound like it's going to be interesting with them trying to &quot;find the dead bodies&quot; while chasing their tails around that place when you're not around! LOL Oh, justice is a beautiful thing.

ARAFAT!!!! Oh puleezeeee. They must have rounded up all the muslim &quot;extremists&quot; to slobber all over him when he made his grand exit 'cuz I keep being told that &quot;most&quot; muslims are moderate.....but what &quot;moderate&quot; would be cheering him like some rock star? This one, too, could get verrrrrryyyyy interesting. If he doesn't get his act together after this &quot;one more chance&quot;, maybe MAYBE he'll be vilified. Well, we can always hope for a spade being called a spade.

Lot's of bill paying and assorted paperwork crud to do today, so I'll be in and out alot.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

Good Morning again!

Looks like you're wide awake and ready to go this fine morning. Actually it's a cool gray morning here but that's OK. The birdies are still singing so I will too. Aren't you glad you don't have to hear me? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Aberfoyle, thanks for the funny to get us going. Poor Al, he just can't help himself. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

RIM, is this lady cutting your hours and expecting you to still get the same work done?
Now, I know that is possible in some cases but I sort of thought you were already giving 110% or maybe 120%. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif *At least it's not that long until October. How many hours will you be working now? It'll be great having you around more. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif

Last night Geraldo was on Hannity &amp; Colmes. It is absolutely sickening watching him bleed for Arafat. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif *I had to leave till his segment finished. Hannity is my favorite on air Conservative. I don't know how he stands Geraldo.

Yes, experiencing some of the ads around the web really makes us appreciate not having them here. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

I think the reason that Sunoco has Saudi free gas is because of their refinery. Something about needing a different weight of oil.

Saber, sometimes just rebooting will work miracles on a computer. Maybe Aknauta will have more info for you when he gets here. I hope I'm wrong but I think the chances of Arafat changing are nill. The world won't change their minds no matter what he does. Most really don't care what he does as long as it only affects Israel. Sorry I sound so cynical but I guess I am. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

Bobby, we'd love to hear a report on your Saudi luncheon.

WHAT is it with Geraldo with all the Arab schmoozing? I mean.....he IS Jewish, right? Is it really that hard for so many people to differentiate black from white/right from wrong?

I read somewhere within the last couple of days that if you are interested in doing your best to boycott Saudi Oil that Shell Oil has the lowest percentage of Saudi sludge. Hadn't heard about Sunoco having &quot;fat-free&quot; sludge, but who the heck has a Sunoco around them? Haven't seen them in decades!

Greetings to all!

Well... the luncheon with the Saudi delegation was quite interesting but also disappointing.

There were three featured speakers for the luncheon: Robert Jordan, US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and two members of the US-Saudi Business Alliance. In addition, Houston Mayor Lee Brown (Former Clinton Drug Czar) also made a presentation.

Ambassador Jordan spoke first, and he gave a light speech on the meeting between Bush and Abdullah in Crawford last week. Apparently, one of the first things Bush did once Abdullah arrived was to give him a tour of the ranch in his pickup truck.

Ambassador Jordan claims that Saudi Arabia is a friend of the US. He said that Abdullah was one of the first leaders to call Bush after the 9-11 attacks, and on 9-12 Abdullah pledged to make available additional oil supplies to the US if they were needed.

Jordan went on to say that the reason almost all of the 9-11 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia was because it was a calculated move by Osama bin Laden to recruit Saudis which would then cause trouble with US-Saudi Relations and US perception of the muslim religion.

He kept his remarks brief, because as he noted, &quot;The question and answer session usually tends to be more interesting.&quot; I was jotting down notes and was looking forward to asking some questions.

Mayor Brown then got up to present &quot;keys of the city&quot; to the two Saudi members of the US-Saudi Business Alliance. He asked them to come up without even intruducing them. Maybe I'm just a stickler for manners and protocol, or maybe I just think that Brown is an idiot, but it made the presentation awkward.

By now, the luncheon was running late, and the remarks by the Saudis were very brief. Both speakers received their undergraduate degrees in Saudi Arabia, and both received their graduate degrees from the US. The first spoke about the fact that there about about 280 joint US-Sauidi business ventures in Saudi Arabia, and that, to date, Saudi Arabia has provided about &#36600 billion into the US economy. He works with businesses and individuals to learn about and invest in Saudi Arabia.

The next presentation had the potential to be very interesting, especially from the prospective of a news item that I could publish on GOPUSA. The segment was titled &quot;Women in Saudi Arabia&quot;. The speaker began by saying, &quot;We are not the 'invisible' women that you think we are.&quot; With that type of opening line, I thought this was going to be good.

However, because of time constraints, the only other things she really mentioned were that &quot;52% of the university students in Saudi Arabia are female&quot; and that &quot;women in Saudi Arabia still cannot drive, but everything is progressing from where it was before.&quot;

With that, she was done, and the host wrapped up the luncheon WITHOUT taking any questions from the audience. That was the really disappointing part of the luncheon.

That's the event in a nutshell.

What do you think?

Bobby

Good Morning! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif

Dr. Eberle, well it sounds like you had a nice lunch. In retrospect you can't expect much substance over a lunch meeting, particularly with more than one speaker. It was a good opportunity to attempt some damage control by Saudi emissaries. Hope you had fun.

Hi Terri, looking forward to your re-organization, it's a great opportunity to get rid of all those old stories! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Welcome Janice Ann and Hi to Aberfoyle too. Saber, who is your ISP? I'm curious as it may be that your ISP has the offending critter. There is a piece of software that is free that will kill those nasty pop-ups and you can install it very easily. If the pop-up comes while you are off the internet then that may be a different animal.
Primrose, fuzzy huh....you don't expect me to believe THAT do you... :wink:
Finally, woke up to an inch of snow and it is continuing..this on May 02? Break-up is going to be late this year...

Good morning.

I hope my luncheon today goes better than Bobby's.

Today is our Cinco de Mayo luncheon where the local Republican Party will give recognition awards to some prominent Hispanic citizens. This is part of our Outreach effort.

I have to get there early to help with the hosting duties. I'll let you all know how it went.

Now to some of my national concerns:

Sailor started a thread about a secret Senate hearing. This is a stealthy way for the Feds to force their environmental policies through our local boards, and it's not really for the environment; it's to trash Americans' living standards.

Next, two Virginia House members: Jim Moran-D, and Tom Davis-R, will introduce a bill next week to standardize our drivers' licenses with a computer chip. Be forewarned. Any of my reps who vote for this better be prepared to have their lower orifice expanded with this piece of plastic, and that's exactly where this chip belongs.

Janice Ann Welcome to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif! *It's so good to see you here and I hope you will enjoy it. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Saber, Geraldo is from Puerto Rico. I've never heard that he was Jewish. He should have been an actor. Maybe he could play the part of Robert Blake or OJ. :turquoiserolleyes:

Bobby, it's too bad that the luncheon wasn't better organized but it's not unusual when they don't go as planned. The Saudis go through the motions of friendship and maybe they do things behind the scenes that satisfy our government. I don't think they have us fooled though. The Prince should feel honored to get a tour in the pickup. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I agree that your Mayor was rude. Is he typically unprepared or does he just not like Saudis? It sounds like the meeting had the potential to be a lot more interesting than it turned out but it's interesting to us here. I seriously doubt that I'll ever meet any Saudis and that might be just as weel. It's nice to live vicariously by sharing your meeting. *Thanks.

Aknauta, your weather just isn't improving much is it. When does it usually quit freezing there?

Hi Donnalee! Yes, we'll want to hear about your luncheon too. The food should be great! I've got to get some reading and commenting done here on the board. I'll check Sailor's article. This is the first I've heard about chips in DLs. I do hope your Reps don't have to wear theirs. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

The Inaugural Cinco de Mayo Luncheon was a great success. Tables were sponsored by Mayor Bob Walkup (R-Tucson), the two Republicans on the City Council, a Republican County Supervisor, several Republican state legislators, Congressman Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) and several Republican businessmen of Hispanic descent.

The centerpieces were made by the children of an inner-city school.

Awards were given to a police officer, a fire fighter, and 2 educators.

Former Congressman Matt Salmon, who is currently running for governor, attended. I introduced him to a lovely Hispanic lady who recently switched her registration from Dem to GOP and is a member of Tucson Republican Women. He spent a lot of times listening to her concerns.
A lovely woman who is involved in local media recognized me as one of the nurses who took care of her baby. She is not yet a citizen, but plans to register as a Republican and wants to help us with our outreach effort.
One of the recipients mentioned that he was a Democrat, but that he was so grateful to be with us and be recognized.

Hopefully, we made some inroads.

Next month we're doing a Juneteenth breakfast to honor local African American citizens.

Donnalee, it sounds like you had a really good start. It's is really important that we get the message across that we are the party ready to meet everyone on an equal basis. The Democrats have made them victims long enough.
