HEY HEY HEY! *Happy Tuesday http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif

HEARTY WELCOME TO KYREP AND PSYCHOXL99! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

Interesting discussion ya'll were having about Cuba vs. China. *The world changed on 9/11. *I don't think we should be rubbing elbows, so to speak, with ANY of these enemies! *AND THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE! *And CERTAINLY not Saudi Arabia who's one of the worst of ALL IMO! *No, there is no difference between Cuba and China yet we have a double standard.......just as there is no difference between Afghanistan and Palestine when it comes to the war on terrorists......but we have a double standard. *IMO, these opposite stances by the US ARE "selling our soul"!

There was alot of sweaty palms around here during last night's hockey game! *WHOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAA *WHAT a game! *That last goal was a beauty. *Certainly glad the Av players really weathered the storm created by Roy! *He was pathetic IMO. *He is so inconsistent....you never know whether "Roy the Invincible" or "Roy the Inconsistent" is going to show up for any given game!

RIM! *Check you calendar! *Does today have a smiley face (no work)....or a frown (work!)? *Are they interviewing again for another "boss"?

Got up this morning to a layer of frost all over everything. *Sure glad I took the time last night to haul in a garage full of plants or my eyes would have looked like this....:teeth2: !!!!!!

Well, yesterday I wondered if we were going to have another car chase. *When I finally got around to turning on the TV..what do we find?? *A CAR CHASE! *LOL *The only surprising thing about THIS car chase was that it was in Phoenix and not California!! LOL

Off to read the news and get smart on the day's events. *Anything new yet today.....or is it all a rehash of old events that they'd like to have us believe is "BREAKING NEWS"??

Good morning Terri & SR! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif *And a hearty welcome to kyrep and psychox199. *Glad you joined our little group.

Terri ~ http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif on all the new smilies. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
As for the Cuba thing ~ I was just saying what was good for Cuba should be good for China. *We are sending a huge mixed message by trading with China. *But, of course, we know it's all about money. *China can offer us much more than Cuba. *They only have sugar and cigars. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

SR ~ you are fortunate that your hubby is astute in money matters. *It takes total concentration and monitoring in order to avoid the pitfalls. *I don't know squat about it either. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *And Mr. RIM knows less than I do. :turquoiserolleyes:

Gonna be a busy day ~ and yes, I think they are interviewing for the new boss slot. *Probably won't know who for a couple of weeks. *The grapevine says it might be the boss from two bosses back. :o *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tearhair.gif

Will try to check back later.:grouphug:

Iris Lynch! Welcome to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif! *We hope to see you posting soon. Immigration is very important to all of us right now and we hope to have some impact. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

As to trade with China or Cuba, all I am saying is it's much easier for a President to prevent trading with a Communist government than it is to change what has been put in place by his predecessors. It might be our desire to end trade with China but how would this be accomplished from a practical point of view. I think my feelings about it are the same as your but if I think instead of feel, I dont think we can just do this right now. But I'd be interested to hear how Bush should approach reversing it.

Saber, you can't say Roy is pathetic! :o Can you? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif*On his worst days he's better than most! Seriously, his inconsistency is growing. There comes a time when the best athletes have to realize it's time. Roy may have reached that point but what a goalie he has been!

RIM, if your company is now recycling bosses that is not a good sign. :o Why don't you just fill that role for them and show them what it's all about. Don't work too hard today and we'll see ya later!

Good morning Haven't visitied in awhile. Tucson has been very hot; hit 100 degrees a couple of days already; I'm grateful for my air conditioning.

I've been getting things out of storage and deciding what to keep and what to trash, and trying to organize so the house doesn't end up looking like it dd before the remodeling LOL!!

While I certainly know what happened 9/11 is not the fault of the present administration, but a failure of our intel agencies, as well as INS, I believe they failed by not putting military on our borders and taking other measures after the fact.
Our borders are not any less porous.

As to China/Cuba. Cuba is at our doorstep, and making trouble in our atmosphere.

We have been infiltrating China while we've been trading. Matt Salmon, running for gov in AZ, goes to China quite often and has seen a LOT of changes in values among the people.

Donnalee!! *Hi! It's good to see you again. We've made some changes to the forums since you were here. We're very concerned about what hasn't happened with the borders and illegal immigration. Check out some of the articles in the Immigration forum if you have time. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi lpara! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Those are some very good points about Castro and Cuba. Apparently our government also thinks there may be a bio terror threat from Cuba. It just doesn't seem a good time to be lifting sanctions.

I wonder if we would have the current trade situation with China if George Bush had been President when these decisions were made. What do you think?

Now, I'm off to conquer the mall! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif *Wish me luck.

Somethig tells me that Bush would not have normalized relaitons with China, but since Clinton did, he has no choice but to make due with it. If he were to roll back on them, it could be political suicide. Maybe he could do that in his second term, since he wouldn't have a pesky re-election to worry about?

Hi all! Terri, love the new icons. The circle of people made me think of one word: Kumbaya! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif You guys don't have to tell me how close Cuba is! It is about 90 miles off our port bow (i.e., 90 miles from Key West). This will be my last day on for a few until Friday; business calls. Breaking News!!

The NYPD (not the FBI) has placed the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty on terror alert. There are helicopters in the air circling both. This may be a warning through the upcoming holiday weekend. Fox says there may be a news conference soon.

On a less serious note, Daschle is publicly calling for an independent commission to investigate events leading up to the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States. Daschle said he expected to reach a decision soon on when to bring to a vote bipartisan legislation calling for creation of a 14-member commission.

Hi http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif all!

Just takin' a break and catchin' up on the news. *:o Terri ~ isn't it really scary about the Statue of Liberty and BB? *If they somehow manage to destroy this beacon of hope it wil be a real tragedy. *Not that WTC wasn't a tragedy. *But this statue represents everything that America stands for. *I truly believe that life as we have known for the past 50 years has been changed forever. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Welcome to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif Rgray24. *Jump right in and join the fun. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Terri ~ as for me being the manager where I work, I'm not interested. *I see how they treat managers and instead of working 40 hours a week plus overtime (if any), they are on salary and sometimes work 60 and 70 hours a week. :turquoiserolleyes: *That means I'm usually making more than they do. *(But I'm worth it.) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

All this talk about nuclear threats etc. is really unnerving. *How did we ever let ourselves get into this kind of jam? *I know, rhetorical question. *I can remember back in the early fifties when we were encouraged to build bomb shelters and store up food and supplies for an emergency. *I just don't think that will work anymore. :o

FLguy ~ I lived in Miami during all the years that the Cubans were flooding into Dade County. *They are a very industrious people and hard working. *They didn't let the grass grow under their feet, and now they are quite a community in south Florida. *If only Castro had realized the great potential of his people and had worked with us to make life better for them in Cuba? *I know, if a bullfrog had wings........tra la la. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Hi Donnalee ~ glad to see you posting again. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

angelus ~ I think you are right, that Bush would not have normalized relations with China. *Cuba may be close, but they don't have any missiles aimed at us. :o *At least I don't think they do ~ but with our sloppy intelligence up to now, that may be a big question also. *

pRIM, You are exactly correct about Cubans. I dated about two if them in college (U of M), and have had the pleasure of knowing many of them politically over the years, including the Diaz-Balarts, and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Hopefully without offending anyone else, I daresay that they are one of the sharpest groups of Latinos I have ever had the pleasure of mingling with, and the few times I ever am brave enough to go back to Miami from the haven of the West Coast of Florida, one of the things I look forward to is going into Little Havana in SW Miami.

Afternoon guys! Well, all these new alerts are making people crazy. But, I don't believe we can live in fear. Caution, yes, fear, no.

Terri - I usually find something very different for a summer job - no kids. I've done admin work (ok - and curriculum work) the past several summers. I want to work part time this year, however - I want more beach days!

Hi All! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif

I seem to be having a busy afternoon here but I will be back to post in the forums soon.

Right now I just want to alert those of you who get Fox News that Tom Tancredo will be a guest on the O'Reilley show tonight! The subject will undoubtedly be illegal aliens.

RIM, you don't need the headaches of management. Better to spend time here with us. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *I don't think I'm going to worry much about any terror threats. After what happened this past week, I think we are going to get every rumor that is heard by the FBI and I don't blame them. Daschle and Gephardt want to know. The FBI is going to tell them and the rest of us will just have to listen too. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ne_nau.gif

Yes, I remember that time too, RIM. We were taught to crawl under our desk at school in case of nuclear attack. Ah, the innocence of ignorance. It was scary to children but we survived.

Sue Elise, maybe you could find a job on the beach or something outside. I know a couple of teachers who are park rangers in the summer. Pretty neat. Anyway, it's good to do something totally different. Imagine teaching summer school. :o

Just saw Trancedo on the O'Reilly Factor. His views were well stated, and I applaud his stance on Immigration whole-heartedly. I wish the Bush administration would adopt his view. Oh well, there is always a ray of hope, and maybe after this year they will. Bush is undoubtedly catering to voters who may "swing" one way or the other, and hoping that by taking something away from Democrats, he'll provide enough coattails for Republicans to get complete control of Congress.

Then he can stop this amnesty stuff. At least, that is my hope.

This latest terror alert with the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge is kind of scary to me because I've always thought that their next strike would be at the Statue and/or the Sears Tower.

I didn't see your post, Terri, about Tancredo until it was too late around here!! *BOO HOOOOO...I'm too busy watching the Maple Leafs. *I'll try to catch the "late showing" of O'Reilly, but I'm so tired already tonight I'm not sure I'm going to make it! *

Here I am! Been a very busy day and now it's intermission between three periods and sudden death overtime! Oh dear!

All this about Cuba and China... Personally, I feel that no country that claims to be anti-Communist should be doing business with China and that goes for my country as well. I feel very strongly about this.

But not to whip a dead horse, guess I'll go back to the TV and chew more nails!

lpara, I think it was you who asked yesterday about our term of office in Canada for our Prime Minister. We don't have a limit. Our Liberal Prime Minister is talking about running again! This sure doesn't make me very happy but I'll just try to work hard for the opposition.

Angelus, I saw Tancredo on the later broadcast of O'Reilley. Interesting that there was an incident of gunplay between the border patrol and the Mexican soldiers or whoever. This did not make the news. O'Reilley is going to look into it. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif *

Saber, I think we are going to hear so many warnings that we will just tune them out and not be prepared. Although, I'm not sure what being prepared means. I guess if I was in NYC I would stay away from the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge but even if there really is a plan why couldn't they just choose another target? Life is too short to dwell on it. What will be, will be.

Aberfoyle, I agree about the trade but our governments get into things that are very difficult to get out of. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Sorry about your hockey loss tonight. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag29.gif I think we play tomorrow night. 1/1 now.

Oh, Saber! You would have laughed yourself to death if you had read the Denver sports columns today. Someone suggested nailing Patrick's skates to the ice. They said we won the game four times and Patrick gave it back three. LOL

Forsberg, said that Patty has pulled us out so many times it feels really good to be able to help him out for a change. They are really a nice bunch of guys.

Lady Parrish, I'm going to answer your post in the Sunday thread here. I hope you will see it. My husband's sister is in Portland and we hope to make at trip to see her at the end of the summer. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
