Good morning all! I thought I woulp post this morning, and let everyone know just how happy I am! Why am I happy (and believe me, I am happy)? Two reasons. First and foremost, my girlfriend is coming home from her college this coming Wednesday night, so we can see each other Thursday! That alone makes me happier than I have been the past 3 days combined (not that I've been sad), but wait, there's more.

I got to see the episode of Buffy last night that was missed on Tuesday, so I won't be in the dark when it comes to the season finale this Tuesday, and the finale is 2 hours long! Buffy heaven . . .

Oh, we've got our Memorial Day things going. My old high school always is the first band out, and they play the Star Spangled Banner to kick off the parade. Apparently, even though we are a small town, we have the longest running (though almost least prominent) Memorial Day Parade in the country.
Those interested, it is the town of Ironton, Ohio. We're economically depressed right now, which is to be expected. Why? 8 years of Clinton and over-regularization for one, and two, the unions around here were dumb enough to strike themselves out of jobs. They wanted so much from the companies that it bankrupted them, so the plants all closed down (except a few, less than 30% of what was here).
I pray that we get things turned around, before this town no longer exists. People are leaving to find jobs, and nobody is coming in to create jobs.

I sure wish that Hyundai factory would decide to open up near here (as is one prospect of many for them), but they probably won't. To think, the one leading production of pig-iron (hence the name of Ironton), now on its knees, almost begging to be put out of misery. And all because the guy who came up with the steel-making process was rejected (he came here, offering the idea, before he made Pittburgh the hubbub it is).

Well, even with all that now fresh in my mind, I'm going to remain positive and dance. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif
The way I see it, we can't get much worse now, so it almost HAS to get better. Maybe those tax breaks will help, since so many are aimed at people and small business, which is most of what we have now. Maybe if we can keep some money instead of giving it to big brother, we'll get turned around a bit.

Well, have a good day, all. I'm off to get my morning caffeine! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

<span style='color:green'>LET'S GO~~~~~~~~THE DAY'S A'WASTIN'!!!

I'm not going &quot;fleaing&quot; today after all. *Too many other &quot;do's&quot; around here today and I just feel like loafin'! *So, I guess I won't be enjoying those heirloom tomatoes after all! *RIM....they call them &quot;heirloom&quot; because, so I'm told, they are propagated (is that the right word?) from very old seed lineages. *I had them two years ago and they were the BEST, juiciest, biggest, reddest tomatoes I had ever had. *Almost makes my mouth water just talking about them! *Anyway, all those other &quot;things&quot; that didn't get done yesterday will get crossed off my list today! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Angelus, speaking of Ohio, I was born and raised in a suburb of Akron. *My Mom and sister and her family still live there so I go back quite often to see them. *Where is Ironton? *My husband grew up in a suburb of Youngstown so, believe me, we know ALL ABOUT &quot;economically depressed&quot;!! *The steel mills there WERE Youngstown~~~~the mills defined the town. *When they shut down and/or moved, the whole town just about scraped the depths of hell before slowly, slowly, slowly creeping back into some semblance of something more than a ghosttown. *Actually, Akron went through the same type of metamorphisis on a lesser scale with the rubber companies. *AND, my son is, as we speak, in Cleveland visiting HIS girlfriend. *I see lots of miles getting piled on the old car this summer with trips back and forth to Cleveland! *

Before I start my &quot;Day of the Projects&quot;, I'm going to take some time to read the newspaper and watch the Sunday shows. *I've got the feeling it's going to be more *&quot;what and when did he know&quot; sniveling. *Ahhhh, that'll just get my BP up just in time for digging post holes for the birdfeeder!! LOL

</span><span style='color:red'>OH</span><span style='color:green'>There was a national story coming out of my hometown here in Illinois about ten years ago about 7 people getting murdered at a Brown's Chicken restaurant literally right in front of the store that I now own. *Do any of you remember it? *Well, they FINALLY (ten years in the making) apparently have caught the KIDS (teenagers) that did it!!! *AND, at the time of the murders, these two creeps went to the high school that MY kids went/go to!!!! *Oh, you can't believe the size of the goosebumbs and chills going on around here over THIS!</span>

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY YA'LL. *I'LL BE BACK!

Morning all. Well, it's been a gloomy weekend, but my birthday is next week, so I'm going to be happy.

Angelus - hope you have a good week - you sound very uplifted. I checked out that wacky dem link - some really delusional stuff there!

RIM - I have to agree wholeheartedly about the media's &quot;tunnel vision&quot;. I saw a blurb on Rush's website about Cheney's speech - he warned the dems not to push too hard. It was obvious he was saying a pushy investigation could hurt the intelligence community's ability to do its job, but it also sounded like a warning that too much spin on the dem side would result in a lot of truth about Bubba being pushed out.

to be an American Conservative Republican! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag19.gif

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the news has not yet been turned on in my house. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

RIM, the media's tunnel vision is deliberate. They will do all that they can to get their own leftwing candidates back in office. Of course, I know that you know that too. The job of restoring America seems overwhelming to me lately. I hope that Angelus and his compatriots will have the strength to do that for their own sakes and the sake of their children.

Angelus, your enthusiasm is contagious. I remember how invigorating Spring was at your age. In fact, it's still invigorating.

Interesting about the economy in your area. I read in our paper yesterday that the unemployment rate here had dropped for the third straight month but the silly article didn't say what the rate is. Wonder what they teach in Journalism schools today besides socialism. I hope it gets better there soon.

Well, I'm off to see what I can get into. Express yourselves while I'm gone! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinking.gif

Saber - Ironton is almost right on the southern tip of Ohio. If you know where Ashland, Ky is, then you'll find Ironton on the map. Just cross the river. Your explanation of Youngstown and Akron gives me hope for Ironton.

Sue - Yes, delusional is right.

Terri - journalism schools teach anything but journalism! I myself knew little about the tenets of true journalists until I was stuck teaching the journalism/newspaper production classes at my old high school. I had to learn as I taught, and I often used the tv and print news as a &quot;what not to do&quot; for my students. The basic &quot;leave out the bais&quot; rule was totally abandoned long ago.

Terri

Hmmmm...it must have taken me a really long time to write that because now I see Saber and Sue Elise were there. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Saber, now you've made me want a tomato and the only tomatoes I have are the greenhouse variety. Maybe I'll make an omelet and put a tomato in it. Yes, with onions and peppers. Yummy!

That's amazing Saber that they caught those kids now. I do know the size of the goosebumps. Many years ago a friend of mine committed a murder. The goosebumps are still with me even though it was so long ago.

Sue Elise, please PM me your birthdate so that we can celebrate it here.

Everyone else, would you please do the same. We want to be happy for each other on those special days, birthday, anniversaries, whatever. Send me your dates!! Please! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrinking.gif

Sue Elise, it's disgusting what passes for journalism these days. Even aside from the terrible bias many don't even manage to get the basic facts into the story. And the headline writers are a scandal.

Suddenly, I'm starving............

It will never end in Israel, will it. *I pray that it never comes here, isn't that selfish? *I promise I don't want it to happen anywhere, but it would be awful to not be able to go to the grocery store, or whereever. *If your kids are in college or anywhere away from home, it would make you worry all the time. I've just heard that an American Special Forces soldier was killed in Afghanistan. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

And a Synagogue was bombed in Quebec. Disturbingly the news article said that this is just the latest in a string of Snyagogue bombings in Canada.

lpara, I don't want to be gloomy but I think it's only a matter of time. I doubt that we will have bombings on the scale that Israel has them but it seems inevitable.

Quick check-in for me again!

Terri, I'm a pretty good cook too....and USED to love to do it....until my life became running on a treadmill in different directions at the same time! Then it became a pain in the arse! That just may be the #2 reason that this diet is the greatest thing yet! (#1, of course, is the weight loss - at least when I don't sneak a piece of French Silk Pie!) I just go twice a week on the way home from work and pick up 3 or 4 days' worth of meals for hubby and me. OH, time for dinner? Open the refrig and throw it in the micro! AND, the food is great, honestly.

Still have the tomato search ready to read when I get 2 more seconds to string together to really read it all.

RIM, do you have to fill-in on Sundays too for the new father? Probably a big day for shopping at the hardware store I would think. In fact, I've been there twice today already!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Terri ~ I agree, (I think we need to build those words into the software somewhere so I can just point and click) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif that it is only a matter of time. *All the credible pundits say that it is not a matter of &quot;if&quot; but &quot;when&quot;. *We have &quot;sleeper cells&quot; just waiting for the &quot;go ahead&quot;. *The world is in chaos and it looks like the &quot;domino effect&quot; could happen any time. :turquoiserolleyes: *But we can't live our lives in fear day in and day out. *All we can do is be vigilant and sensible and hope for the best. *We can also elect more republicans ~ http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Ipara ~ that &quot;nap&quot; thing sounds like a winner to me. *I missed mine today since I had to work later than usual.

Aberfoyle ~ yes, it is very sad http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif that there is so much death and destruction going on in our world today. *

SueE ~ if I had it to do over, I'd go into journalism. *I think it is such a great way to communicate your ideas. *Too bad that many journalists have forgotten what the word &quot;unbiased&quot; means. *Bias in books is ok, but in the mass media it is no more than personal propaganda. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

Aknauta ~ I just heard a couple of days ago that the sun in Alaska is out to stay for the next several months. *It will be on the horizon throughout the summer. *To me that would really seem strange. :turquoiserolleyes: *

pRIM - I'm not sure how unique my thoughts or my wit is, but I'm glad you appreciate both.

I heard today that Cheney has said that another terrorist attack on the US is almost a certainty. My question is, don't these people realize that'll just tick us off more? If they do attack again, or even attempt an attack, don't they know that we'll probably just go in all-out, coalition or not?

I've had an on again, off again headache all day, and it is driving me bonkers (whether or not I am bonkers normally can be open to debate, http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ). Surprisingly, it seems less painful when I'm at the computer, or watching TV. Maybe it just distracts me from the pain.

I just had a wonderful supper. A pot-roast with mashed potatoes and corn, yummy! Sunday supper is the best supper of the week.

Well, I'm off again to surf the net. Maybe I'll find something interesting to post about here, I dunno. Take care all!

Today has been a good day for me! *My headache is all gone now (only took it until 10:30-ish). *I was actually able to get something written on my story I've been working on for my web-site. *The only problem is that I can't figure out how I want to start my song. *Actually, movement 2, which depicts the life of Christ. *Every time I start it, I listen to it the next day and it sounds awful, cheezy, or something that is a combination.
Maybe I should just wait for that, though. *After all, since movement 1 is based on a couple of hymns sung at Christmas time (Siletn Night and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen), maybe I should wait until my Lutheran Book of worship is returned to me to pick out some hymns to base movement 2 on.

I was happy to see that support for our President is remaining high, even after all these months. *No other President in history, including FDR, has had so high of approval ratings for so long. *

As I type this, I am listening to Tchaikovsky's &quot;Romeo and Juliet Overture&quot;. *It is a phenominal piece of music. *I hope someday I have a band good enough to do this piece.

Well, I better end this post. *Don't wanna go on and on about things at this time of night, I'm likely to make no sense at all. *With that, I bid you all adieu, until I come back again, most likely tomorrow.

I'm really interested in these tomatoes! I'm going to order some seeds.

Aberfoyle--I flipped my calendar page and saw that it was Victoria Day--Happy Victoria Day--(it's after 12http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0 where I am) I see you mentioned it above. *I also hope you have a comforting and peace filled day tomorrow, a blessed birthday party and a day of precious memories to remember. *We share something else in common--our anniversary is also in May, (26th) so not too far from yours. *GBY:1luvu: *Sorry, your guys lost the game:sad:

Angelus--glad your headache is better!
I'm glad http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif is doing such a great job and people are recognizing it for what it is -- the &quot;real people's&quot; voice. Daschle and Gephardt eat your heart out!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Well, good night everyone--pleasant dreams . . .

It's been a good day here too, Angelus. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif You are listening to Romeo and Juliet and I'm listening to Willie. LOL *It's Me and Paul at the moment. There are some on this CD (Exodus) that I really like. *A Horse Called Music is one of my very favorites among others. Sort of depends on which one I'm hearing at the moment. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twocents.gif

Aberfoyle, I hope things look up for both our Hockey teams. Bummer! We'll want to see a photo of the birthday girl tomorrow.

lpara! There you are. I was just missing you. If you need any help resizing your photos I'd be glad to help and I think Aberfoyle would too. I'm just volunteering us both. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif But I know she loves photos as much as I do. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I wonder why my calendar doesn't have all the special days. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Oh no! I've heard a first report of another bombing in Israel. In Afula this time. No details as yet. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif

Terri, Just got back over here and no I am not by Portland. I am closer to Eugene. As liberal as Eugene is being a University town I consider that a better trade off. besides we were both born in this area.
We had to live in big towns when he was in the Navy. So we came home to the rural life and drive into town to work. BTW. I hope you had a good weekend.
