What a day for news yesterday was! There is so much to talk about.

Hamas has killed 16 more Israeli civilians and wounded at least 60 in a pool hall. It was predicted that they would try to derail the peace talks and they succeeded. It was no accident that this was timed while Sharon was actually meeting with Bush. You cannot negotiate with terrorists. It is useless to try! Sharon has gone home to lay plans to defend his country and we would do the same.

The suspected mail bomber was caught in Nevada. Hopefully he was the only one. :o

The UN has voted 74 to 4 with 54 abstentions to condemn Israel's actions in the West Bank. The vote came AFTER the latest homicide bombing in Tel Aviv. What a farce! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif

This whole post should have been in Rants but I hope you will just put up with me today. In spite of it all, we must still count blessings and remember to hug someone close to us. It's such a pleasure to come here and have all of you to talk to about the state of the world. :1luvu:

Good Morning http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif Terri and GOPUSA!

My, my, wasn't yesterday eventful. *Some good and some very bad. *My heart goes out to the families of those who were murdered in Israel. *Once again the Muslims have proven that they have no intention of co-existing peacefully. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif*

Just saw on TV where they have arrested the "pipe bomber". *This kid looks "squeaky clean". *Who would have ever suspected ~ go figure. *Just proves, looks mean nothing. *It's what's in the head that counts. *I hope they make a good example of him so others won't try for their 15 minutes of fame and put innocent people at rist. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Then, on the other side of the coin, there is 17 year old Andrew Smith. *You can read his story HERE. HEY HEY HEY as Yogi Bear would say! HI ALL!

"This kid looks "squeaky clean"."

RIM, did you see pictures of him as lead guitarist and singer in his band? Well, let's just say he wasn't "squeaky clean". Me thinks he was trying to go "incognito" after setting all the pipe bombs. I think if he continued to wear his hair all long and scraggly, he might have been caught alot sooner wandering around rural areas!

This latest homicide bombing has me in a real snit. IMO, anyone who thinks this wasn't precisely timed to hit during the Sharon/Bush meeting is naive. I certainly hope our President took sufficient notice of this timing and realizes that it's a definite warning signal to both of our countries. I also strongly hope that PM Sharon doesn't listen to any of the nonsense he's likely to get from here and/or abroad about being "patient". IMO, until he lets slips the hounds from hell, there will be many more Israeli civilian deaths. These people need a good taste of power and alot of fear of their own. War is hell. Terri, the UN really needs a good slap back to reality. How did the US vote in this latest nonsense?

I'm going to check out the latest threads this morning and get up to speed on the news.

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY!

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif Good Morning RIM, Saber and all who come to GOPUSA today!

Henry Kissinger is on Fox this morning. He certainly raises the IQ level on that morning show. :o

RIM, I missed most of that young man on the Hannity show because they cut away to the Sharon news conference. Thanks for giving us a link. At age 18 he sees clearly. Too bad those around him and those in charge of immigration policy don't have the same unclouded vision.

Saber, here's how the UN vote went. "The resolution passed 74 to 4 with 54 abstentions. The United States, Israel, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia voted "no," while almost every European nation was among the abstentions." I've posted the article in War on Terror. I would suggest to them that there is more to come from Israel that may make Jenin look like child's play.

Off to check on the news.

OK. Something's bugging me.

Seems we look like idiots again as we are trying to broker this settlement in the Church. Seems we (?) kinda forgot to ask Italy if they were willing to take these 13 murderers into their country. Seems they don't want to play. So the "deal" falls apart. My question is this... Italy doesn't want them, so how 'bout another European country...you know...the ones that run their mouths about the US should do this and Israel should do that! Seems none of them want any part of actually doing something THEMSELVES! AND I hear this morning that JORDAN doesn't want them either! Well, how 'bout some other peaceful muslim nation? Huh? How about Pakistan or those peaceful Saudi's? What? No you say? What a joke.

The President in on TV now giving an education speech at a school. Let's see if he says anything about yesterday's murders. If he doesn't feel this is the "place" to do this, I could certainly understand that, but IMO, he should have been out early this AM and made a separate speech.

Happy National Teacher Day to SueElise!!!(yesterda y) and Happy Nurse's Day to DonnaLee on Monday!!!
Yesterday my husband said several people called Rush and said they weren't going to vote for GW if he doesn't start going back to his "old days" principles and FIGHT for what is right. *If this is Art with a capital A, he better hurry and expedite "it." *
I'm glad they caught the bomber--didn't they say he was at University of Wisconsin--Donna Shalala's (sp?) hangout. *I'm from Wisconsin and you can't find a conservative at that school (or most universities for that matter). *He probably learned to make bombs there and for sure he learned how to hate the government there.
I am very thankful that I live in America and not in Ramallah or Israel. *I heard Shawn Hannity say yesterday that the Saudi's (or somebody) paid all the families of the murdering bombers &#3633,000. *If the Saudis (I can't remember who he said did that and that's the most important part!--Halfheimers is kicking in) did pay these monsterous families--they are cooperating with and harboring terrorists and we need to BOMB THEM TOO!

Saber, I hear you. It's all so very frustrating. I just now ran across an article and posted it in War on Terror. It sounds as though Bush will not attempt to restrain Sharon this time. It seems responsible to me for him to stay low key right now and not inflame the situation. He could speak more freely if we were not in the position of peacemaker. At least this is what I am telling myself.

lpara! Thanks for remembering those special days. I missed them! Both teachers and nurses work very hard to provide such needed services. *Yes, a lot of conservatives are very upset about some things that are happening with the administration. I am too but I know I will definitely vote for Bush. There is no doubt of that for me. Good afternoon everyone! Just thought I would drop in and say hello. I am having a good day so far, despite the scattered storms. AS some of you may know, I have up until now not been a member of the Republican party. I did deem myself conservative, and I have visited both party web-sites. After my experiences, I now announce that I am a genuine, card-carrying member of the Republican Party. While it is not perfect, it is far better than the other, morality free, logic free choice.

Speaking of choice, ever notice how the Democrats seem so pro-choice when it comes to a woman deciding life or death to an unborn baby, but are anti-choice when it comes to parents deciding where to send their kids to school, or if people should be allowed to choose to own a gun? Doesn't it seem to reason that if a person can choose life or death, they ought to be able to choose gun or no gun, school A or school B?

Hi again!

Ipara, thanks for your teachers and nurses good news days! You're always full of cheery news and that's really nice!

You're absolutely right about the bomber. I don't doubt for a second that he "learned" his lessons well at the University. Even in Illinois, that college has quite a reputation. I've heard reported by other parents of people in his band that his family was a really good family. The parents of the bomber supported him by going to all his concerts and even helped the kid all the time setting up his equipment, etc. The media keeps reporting that this was a strong family.....so....sou nds like college lessons to me!

I heard Colin Powell make some mentions of the ME situation this morning that just boiled my blood some more. More talk about negotiations and political solutions...and he said "bombing in 'occupied territories'." GAG ME

I will hold my decision on any future vote for President Bush until I see how this immigration thing eventually comes down, but the signs I've seen so far are not encouraging. He still has quite a bit of time to get it all together. Ahem.

Angelus, you are such a breath of fresh air for your generation. My oldest son is more or less a conservative thinker, but he comes out with some of the darnedest things and I have to basically tell him he doesn't know what he's talking about...and then educate him...all in a very nice way, of course!! LOL He doesn't have the gut interest yet, but he started his first REAL job today. I'm sure as he goes down the path of the "real world" and sees the nonsense on a daily basis, he'll become more vigorous about his politics.

On the other hand, my youngest son is kind of a "dittohead" of his mother! I might even go so far as to say he's beyond saber rattler bordering on nicely militant! LOL I love to talk politics with that kid because he's so black and white. It refreshes my soul.

Hi all,

* Sorry I have not been here in about a week, been very busy. It will take me a while to catch up on all the threads I have missed. If you haven't heard by now (which would have only been from Dr. E), I did not prevail in my FFYR election efforts this past weekend. However, with a renewed sense of energy and purpose, I have been immersing myself in newer political activities and challenges. I am still working on Katherine Harris' congressional campaign, and am scrutinizing the redistricting plans from Florida for our state legislative and congressional districts. I intend to stay quite active in the local Sarasota County YR club, as well as the county GOP and the Bush-Brogan re-election effort. Our GOP HQ is opening up this month, and every candidate from school board to congress are having meet and greet socials and fundraisers. This in addition to the ongoing commitment with the BSA and my three kids. Never a dull moment, here. Glad to see all is well with you guys, even though things are not getting any better in the Middle East. I will be around, but might be working on reading everything you guys have written the past 7 days! So, talk amongst yourselves.

Hi!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif

Sorry for being absent so much today. I got caught up in a project and I'm finished for now.

Ha'aretz, is reporting our President's stand on the last homicide bombing a little differently than our own reports have. They say Sharon will not expel Arafat but will follow an American plan to remove him from actual power to a figurehead position.

Reports are that the pipebomber had a radical leftwing point of view. Don't expect to hear the media identify him as a leftwing extremist. :turquoiserolleyes:

There has been some talk about dividing the terrorists in the Church of the Nativity between countries like Spain and Italy. They keep saying they have an agreement but then saying they don't.

Angelus, you are so logical that you can only be a Republican. Others don't seem to be able to draw those distinctions that make so much sense.

It really came as a shock to me last fall to realize how far left Wisconsin is. I've never been there and thought of it as full of good level headed Americans. :o

Aknauta, that's it. I knew someone predicted the homicide bombings and it was Debka. They were right on!

Hi Aberfoyle, they really did solve a lot of problems in here this afternoon. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Floridaguy! We missed you. I don't know what's wrong with those people either but I'm also wondering how you would have found time for one more thing. You sound really busy now. I really enjoy hearing about all your activities.

Hi Guys - things have been busy around here! I've been pretty busy myself. Thanks, Ipara, for mentioning teacher's day. I didn't even know yesterday was teacher's day!

Well - here's the latest on my threat. I looked through his record yesterday - remember I said he's a 17 year old freshman? Well, he hasn't passed (and I mean all fs) a class (NONE) since 5th grade! Anyway - the school suspended him for 5 days. Both he and his parents swear that I'm his favorite teacher. He was surprised that I percieved the picture as a threat, and is apparently very sorry - he's writing me a letter of apology (his own idea). I requested he be removed from my classes, and he has been. I also requested a psych eval., which I was told would be a condition of his returning to school. So I said that I wasn't going to press charges yet - I want to wait and see. I'm inclined to think it was a really stupid doodle with no malicious intent.

Anyway.

It's amazing to me that people still see the Palestinians as "defending themselves" with the homocide bombers. I was watching FoxNews this morning, and the girl commenter went off on a caller, calling her stupid for that opinion!

AND HE IS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL........HOW? This is OUTRAGEOUS. So that's what... over THREE YEARS of ALL f's and they just keep passing him through to get rid of him. This school district has done exactly WHAT good for this kid? Obviously this kid has more than multiple problems of his own making, but what kind of service has the school done by passing him along? HOW in the world do they explain passing on a kid who hasn't passed a class?

I'm sure that you have a good handle on what to do for your own protection when it comes to this incident. It sounds to me like you've done all the prudent things. Keep a wary eye on him even though he won't be in your class. Stay safe, SueElise.

Hmmmm.....I see Dick Morris as a cheapshot scumbag who wants to keep his ugly mug on TV. Does this mean I have to wear the lampshade??? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/anon.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just can't imagine that Hilary could win a nationwide election. On the other hand I couldn't imagine that her husband would either time! Hilary would have a very high hurdle to become the first female president and she would have to do it without any of the charm that the impeached ex president had. She's not a likeable person at all. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif

Wasn't there a little more to the "toes" thing? I thought he was on the phone with Clinton or something during this event. :o

lpara, I turned Hannity off for the first time today. I am just so tired of listening to them try to have a decent conversation with a Palestinian. It's impossible. I did turn it back on later.

Geraldo is still standing by the church saying they're coming out any minute now. :turquoiserolleyes: *Actually, the governor of Jerusalem was released.

Sue Elise!! I've wondered how it was going with you. I'm glad you checked things out so that you could make an informed decision. It sounds like a good one for both you and the boy. Hopefully he has learned something from this.

Saber just said what I was going to say about the schools. That makes things easy for me. Dittos, Saber! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And then RIM said it too! I must be back on the right side here and I'll take off this lampshade. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/anon.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Hey all,

* *Thanks for the good wishes. Regarding Hillary, never be fooled into thinking someone cannot win an election; it is the quickest way to prove they can. The best motto I hear from Republicans all the time is "run like you are way behind, even if you know you are way ahead." This is what Jeb is doing, this is what Katherine is doing, and that is what GOP candidates who win do. Never let anyone tell you that you have already won the campaign until it is over. It is a common ploy (as I know from personal experience and races) for someone to tell you that you won anyway, to not worry about an election. You can be sure that it will be coming from someone who is backing your opponent. Regarding Florida, let me defend our great state by saying that we do not all live in Palm Beach County, and that we have one of the most Republican state legislatures and Congressional delegations in the nation. You can be sure our majorities will be increasing in both state houses and in Congress this next election. I am VERY pleased by the redistricting of our state, which various maps I spent a lot of time analyzing yesterday afternoon. I am particularly pleased that the state house district I am "tentatively" looking at running for in 2006 (at which time the current representative is term limited out) is apparently 55% GOP and only 28% Democrats (the difference being third party or independents). Our guys in Tallahassee did a great job this time. As long as our neighbors in Southeast Florida keep becoming more liberal, the rest of our state will continue becoming more conservative, and Sarasota is leading the way!
