Yesterday was a big news day especially with the shocking announcement that the Pledge of Allegiance words "under God" had been found unconstitutional by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
GOPUSA is offering you a way to express your displeasure with this decision. Just go to the home page (http://www.gopusa.com/) of the site and sign our petition. It will be delivered to the Justice Department, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and the full U.S. Senate which is holding up the President's judicial nominees. * *

"The view of the White House is that this was a wrong decision and the Department of Justice is now evaluating how to seek redress," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said.
"This decision is an embarrassment to the court. History, custom and tradition evidently are unknown quantities to this court. How they propose to erase “In God We Trust” from all our currency will be an interesting project. I hope this decision is speedily reversed."
Congressman Henry Hyde, R-Ill.,
"The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is California Dreaming if it thinks it can overturn the Pledge of Allegiance. "This ruling is a disgrace to the judicial branch of government. We can thank God the insane decisions of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals are usually overturned. "This decision highlights an alarming need to appoint judges who will not rewrite our Constitution and Pledge of Allegiance. The Senate needs to quit blocking President Bush's judicial nominees and replenish our courts with sane judges."
House Republican Conference Chairman J.C. Watts, Jr.
"Obviously, the liberal court in San Francisco has gotten this one wrong. Of course, we are one nation, under God. The Pledge of Allegiance is a patriotic salute that brings people of all faiths together to share in the American spirit.
Congressman Dennis Hastert
"This decision is nuts."
Senator Tom Daschle
"This is obviously an unbelievable decision, as far as I am concerned, and an incorrect ruling and a stupid ruling."
Senator Trent Lott
"What's next?" asked Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Mo. "Will our courts, in their zeal to abolish all religious faith from public arenas, outlaw 'God Bless America' too? *"The great strength of the United States is that we are and will continue to be, despite the liberal court's decision, one nation under God."
"Political activism run amok," decided Sen. George Allen, R-Va
I think the pledge is a good thing for the country and I hope we keep it," said House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Mo. "[T]his is a normative thing, it is not a religious question ... and I would hope that in the future that would be the view of the court."
"In recent years, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned 27 of 29 9th Circuit decisions so that tells you that the 9th Circuit is out of step with the rest of the federal judiciary," said Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa.
Between 100-150 Congressmen stood on the steps of the Capitol yesterday afternoon to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
Senator Daschle has called for the Senate to gather tomorrow morning to do the same.

Good morning from http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag29.gif
I've been battling with storms all evening. I wanted to come in to say "Goodnight" to you all but Terri was faster than my storms would allow so I'm here to say "Good Morning!"
This news about the Pledge of Allegience is certainly terrible. I'm so sorry. God has been eroded from our country up here but I always expected this to stay south of the border.

Good morning everyone. *I hope you all have a good day. *I'm going to spend the day with my girldfriend. *We might just get on a bull-horn and say the Pledge of Allegience. * http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
This court decision is an atrocity. *President Bush didn't say enough when he said it was "ridiculous." *This decision is part of a larger scheme to get rid of God from our country, not just our government. *This is part of a plan to turn us to an officially atheist nation, which will make it then easier to take us to Communism. *It's evil incarnate.
Can you tell I don't like it? * http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Good morning guys! Great quotes, Terri. Angelus - don't get too steamed. It seems the majority of public opinion is against the 9th circus ct. and this may help get republicans and conservatives elected all over this November. This decision will NOT stand - prayer and faith and GOD will see to that!
Der Alte - can you tell us your wife's name? I'd like to add her to my prayers.
Last night I went to all the news sites I could find to answer their polls about the pledge thing. Of course, CNN hadn't put one up yet -- I wonder if they have one now? Anyway - they were all overwhelmingly against the court's decision (between 80 and 90%).

Like I ranted yesterday (last night), this isn't about the right of an atheist to not say "God" (which is not religious, it seems this man needs to be aware of what religion really is). It's about the right of non-atheists to say "God" if they so choose. He is bent on taking away the rights of others to proclaim their faith to make himself feel better.

Terri ~ AWESOME presentation this morning. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif *This thing about the pledge of allegiance is really disturbing. *I was in the 11th grade when then inserted "under God" and at that time we all thought how wonderful it was. *Of course back then there was no PC and there was no danger of athiests and poor misunderstood perverts becoming the cause du jour as they are now. *
What is even more disturbing, for every angelus, FlGuy, Sue E, et al (age group) there are seemingly hundreds of the opposite disgusting trend. *The trend toward total obliteration of our Constitution. *The precious gift that was given to us by our forefathers is in tatters due to the sycophantic interpretations of sick minds. *The days of being ambivalent are over ~ and right here is a good place to begin.
I did see where the senate has voted 99-0 in favor of challenging this atrocious assault on the core beliefs of this nation. * *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I am so very happy about the vouchers decision. The takes away issue #1 for the Dems in Florida they were going to go after Jeb on. They said vouchers are a terrible idea (must weaken the NEA) and would hurt minorities. Nothing is farther from the truth. Florida is finally improving our ranking in education, and since vouchers were started here and racial preferences ended, minority enrollment in college and their school graduation rates have gone up. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Reno was all set to campaign against Jeb (and McBride, too) on the education issue, and IMO, the rug was just pulled out from her and Terry McAuliffe http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif This is a great decision by the court for our Governor! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif

Good morning all
I was at the state party fund raiser lastnight and this was a point of
discussion. We said the pledge at the reception and the dinner.
People really stress the word God. I am thrilled the the leader of the senate feels the say way its scarry.
Maybe Congress can pass a new line to the pleadge. "American if you don't love it leave it." It would not fit But i like it lol
PS I will be in California this weekend seeing my parents and more importantly doing a number of fund raisers of Simon and added last night to the agenda beside the National Antham being sung before the start of the function the Pledge will be recited.
There will also be a rally at the courts steps tonight of the 9th circurt. I beleive these judges are cooked. To bad they can't be voted out of office.

Text of a resolution introduced Wednesday, June 26, 2002, in the Senate on the Pledge of Allegiance:
Whereas, this country was founded on religious freedom by founders, many of whom were deeply religious;
Whereas, the First Amendment to the Constitution embodies principles intended to guarantee freedom of religion both through the free exercise thereof and by prohibiting the government establishing a religion;
Whereas, the Pledge of Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy, a Baptist Minister, and first published in the September 8, 1892, issue of the Youth's Companion;
Whereas, Congress in 1954 added the words "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance;
Whereas, the Pledge of Allegiance has for almost 50 years included references to the U.S. flag, the country, to our country have been established as a union "under God" and to this country being dedicated to securing "liberty and justice for all;"
Whereas, the Congress in 1954 believed it was acting constitutionally when it revised the Pledge of Allegiance;
Whereas, this Senate of the 107th Congress believes that the Pledge of Allegiance is not an unconstitutional expression of patriotism;
Whereas, patriotic songs, engravings on U.S. legal tender, engravings on federal buildings also contain general references to "God";
Whereas, in accordance with decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court, public school students cannot be forced to recite the Pledge of Allegiance without violating their First Amendment rights;
Whereas, the Congress expects that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will rehear the case of Newdow v. U.S. Congress, en banc;
Resolved, That the Senate authorizes and instructs the Senate Legal Counsel to seek to intervene in the case to defend the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance.
I can't believe it but It makes it very glad. Or are the Dems running scared if they dont do this we would win all the elections?

Its getting so dark that I had to turn the lights on to see the keyboard and I guess with the rumbling that it would be a good idea to unplug. Later.

Today's trek took us to the *Greenville zoo (and they didn't even offer to keep me) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif and then went on a tour of the old Historic Downtown Greenville. *Really nice scenery. *Then stopped at Baskin & Robbins and got some yummy ice cream. (Just what I needed) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tqrolleyes.gif Then home for a short siesta so we can go to an outdoor concert tonight. *All this fun is wearing me out. * http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif
FlGuy ~ sorry if I "lumped" you. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *I know you are ummmmmm ........ I won't tell cuz you might tell mine. *But let's just say when you are over 60 http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif everyone under 40 seems reallllllllllllllly young. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Tomorrow is my last day of vacation and Saturday I start the long trek home. *I've had a great time but I miss my routine. *And Mr. Rim misses my routine too. * http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Der Alte ~ I'm so glad to hear that your wife is doing better. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
Terri ~ I think the 9th Circuit just shot themselves in the foot, big time. *I hope the Dems wiggle and squirm trying to distance themselves from this one. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif
Welcome to all our new members! *When I get back from vacation I'll do better in the "welcoming" department. *We're so glad you have decided to join our team. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif
Saber ~ are you out doing battle with the road department today? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif *Tell them you are going to charge them for all the business you have lost. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif
I'll try and check back later. *We're getting ready to go out for Chinese. <yummy>
Laurie ~ I forgot to tell you, it *was* the Haywood Mall that we went to on Tuesday. *It's as big as a small city. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

Afternoon! I don't know if any of you listen to the Savage Nation, but I caught the first 10+ minutes on my way home from class. It was great!!!!! He's starting a petition to have the 9th circuit court broken up and to have the idiot judge thrown off - if you haven't done so, go to his site Savage's pledge (http://www.homestead.com/prosites-prs/petitiontosavetheple dge.html) and print it out.

RIM, anyone under 40 is not just young, their babies.
Let me see if I can get this straight - Judge issues ruling - Judge puts ruling on hold - do you think it has anything to do with the national outcry? I see where the 9th has had about 5 decisions reversed - does being in CA have anything to do with it?.
Ipara, for sure you got rain today - we have already gotten a half inch and its raining again. Hope some got up your way. Its getting loud enough that I think I'll unplug again. Have a good night.

<span style='color:orange' ><span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'>Good Evening all!</span></span> It is good to hear from everyone. The posts slowed down significantly since yesterday. This is "baby" *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif Floridaguy reporting in (according to Der Alte; I am sure I will feel similar in my 70s). RIM, you are a very young 60ish person, I wouldn't sweat it. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Welcome to Ernest P. Bass, revrm1, and svfd. We are fortunate to be picking up some new members. Thanks to Velvet for her first post, too. I saw numerous guests at times on here today, as much as 7 at once. Please register so we know who you are, and you can post.
RIM, glad you are coming back to town. You better allow an extra couple of hours on the return trip; I am sure the car is holding an extra several hundred pounds of shopping items you bought! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif BTW, who are you seeing tonight in concert?
Der Alte, continued good luck with your wife's health, and make sure you get some rest as well.
Got our mosquito nets yesterday in the mail, and went to Troop meeting tonight to finish the PVC frames to hold them over our cots in the tents for our trip to Boy Scout camp in Orlando (La-No-Che) the week after next. Also ran out tonight and got trunks (storage, not swimming)for the oldest son and myself. Haven't used those since college.
Well, off to read posts. Talk to you in the morning (as in after 9 AM, not 1 AM! ) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

Good evening all! I had a wonderful day with the wife, er, girlfriend. Now before anyone jumps in shock, let me just state my opinion. I feel we are spiritually united into one being, that God has given us to each other, and that is what I call marriage. It's not legal, but it will be when we're either out of school or almost out of school. That may shock some people (but not Floridaguy, if I remember correctly) to hear a conservative like myself say that people are married when society says they aren't.
OK, now that I've said that, I'm going to go see if other forums need my input. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Angelus, my statement was that two people are considered married in the eyes of God when they have consummated the marriage. Of course, if you did that (and I am not asking, here), then technically from a biblical standpoint, you are indeed married. If you have not, then you will be married when you have done that. If you aren't "following" me here, you better Message me! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

<span style='color:brown'><span style='font-family:blueprint'>Hi everyone!
Glad to hear your wife is doing some better, Der Alte~~we did get some rain and lots of thundering. *About 10 minutes yesterday and just a light one tonight. *Can't even hear the rain drops ~it's that light! *There must be some sort of haze above our city that blocks heavy rain. * http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif *Do I sound like an environmental wacko?
pRIM~~glad you're having fun. *It is always good to get back home after a vacation! *

Good to see you lpara! Shep on FNC is good. Of course, I like the morning crew too (especially this morning, when they got to the Newdow guy and said the Pledge as a lead-in to that segment. That was awesome!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
Late nights? What's late anymore? 1http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0 in the morning is normal bed-time for me. Darn, college has screwed up the system I used to have of sleeping from midnight till noon. I like having perfectly symmetrical days like that in the summer. Now I don't. So I post here.
Anyway, no you don't soundl like an envirowacko. You sound like someone making an observation or hypothesis about why you can't hear rain that has nothing to do with blaming big business for over-poluting the air.
