FBI Identifies Almanacs As Terrorist Warning Sign

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- The FBI has identified a new and unexpected warning sign for law enforcement officials to be on guard for in the ongoing war on terrorism: people carrying almanacs.

The FBI issued a Christmas Eve notice to nearly 18,000 police groups urging them to keep a close eye on people carrying the handbooks beloved by many as an excellent resource for information about infrastructure and weather patterns, complete with pictures and diagrams.

Terrorists in the United States are believed to be using almanacs to plan another terrorist attack within America's borders, the FBI warns in the release.

The almanacs will possibly be used "to assist with target selection and pre-operational planning," the FBI adds in the release.

Ok, guess this makes more sense than I thought it did at first.

This is one time that the joke is on the FBI. But the Commodore is not laughing. *http://www.gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *Osama (if he is still alive) is, though.

We have seen such items as taking off the shoes (unfortunately, there have been incidents where that was warranted); two hour waits to go through the security checks; certifications about the luggage; the works. Hence, if the Commodore and his bride travel within the USA, it is on ground, using their personal auto (or, perhaps, the Amtrak ™ or VIA Rail ™ trains). Air travel will be if he & his are on pilgrimage to The Holy Land, on the Knight Templar ™ Holy Land Pilgrimage (if the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar, the United States of America is still sponsoring it).

N. B.: the Commodore is a past Commander of his local Commandery.

Seriously, though, we need to relax, to take our bearings, to remember our heritage -- and not grovel like so many ants on a larger than normal anthill! We defeated Hitler, Stalin, Khrushchev; we found the Insane in a hole (like the FBI found the Unabomber); to quote Sinclair/MacGregor: "(The Americans) will come out of this thing with their heads high, and will be entitled to thumb their noses at those countries who wished them harm -- and I hope Canada is not one of these, though there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians."

MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

First they will register the almanacs, assuring us of the continued availability of information, then we will be asked to register our Encyclopedia Brittanicas, and our Funk and Wagnals.

Beware Greeks bearing books.
