Dean: 'Capture of Saddam has not Made America Safer'

LOS ANGELES (Talon News) -- It appeared on Sunday that Howard Dean, who had opposed military action in Iraq, had gotten off message following his praise of coalition forces with the capture of Saddam Hussein. He was back on message on Monday.

"The capture of Saddam is a good thing which I hope very much will help keep our soldiers safer. But the capture of Saddam has not made America safer," Dean said.

Dean, the former governor of Vermont, said in California, "Let me be clear: My position on the war has not changed. The difficulties and tragedies we have faced in Iraq show that the administration launched the war in the wrong way, at the wrong time, with inadequate planning, insufficient help, and at unbelievable cost."

"An administration prepared to work with others in true partnership might have been able, if it found no alternative to Saddam's ouster, to then rebuild Iraq with far less cost and risk," Dean added.

Dean's plan for America's safety must include everyone having their own "spider hole" to climb into--it certainly doesn't include aggressively pursuing those who pose a threat to us.

I suppose Dean also thinks D-Day "was launched...in the wrong way, at the wrong time, with inadequate planning, insufficient help, and at unbelievable cost."

After all, we lost more men on D-Day than during our last three "wars".

What costs is Dean willing to pay to insure America's safety and well-being? What is his "plan"? Whatever it is, I think it involves spider holes and the singing of "Kum By Yah" over and over again.

Dean for President...of the UN!

He's wrong, of course, but, just for a moment, let's assume he's not. If capturing Saddam has not made Americans inherently safer, it is at least a good step in the right direction, much like a seventh-inning grand slam, a third quarter touchdown, or a second-half three-pointer. It's doesn't win the game by itself, but it definitely shifts momentum your direction, and, combined with other scores, can provide the winning edge. And, as far as the organization and timing are concerned, teams win ugly all the time. A win this convincing cannot be an ugly win.

I agree with Dean.........it hasn't made America safer.......it's not like I can leave my house door unlocked at night or my car for that matter.........

Do they just hand rich kids like Dean M.D.s or do they actually make them study because this comment is about as 5th grade as it gets.

The scary thing is not necessarily what Dean said, but the amount of non-thinkers/Dean backers out there unwilling to analyze his position and ask him, "what the hell were you thinking when you made such a stupid comment....we may all be socialists, but that comment just plain didn't make sense." These types of non-thinkers (they consider themselves to be highly intellectual people) are the ones that stood by as Stalin murdered millions, Hitler cleansed Europe, and Mao cleaned house.

And the left attacks the conservatives because Bush can't pronounce NU-Clear? The Republicans at least have the heart to question each other (that is often a bad thing when the liberals get wind of our bickering), but at least we ask questions.

The left are truly a scary bunch!
