Good Morning GOPUSA!

This past weekend, we held our first State Editor Conference in Houston, TX. It was a lot of fun and many great ideas were discussed.

Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and Kerri Houston of American Conservative Union gave presentations at the conference, and the political discussions were very interesting.

I'm already looking forward to next year's event.

Just a quick question.....WHY am I all of the sudden having all these pop-ups ALL over the net....everywhere I go...of provocatively dressed (ahem) women? I'm getting them here, as well as at every other place I'm going! This is driving me absolutely CRAZY! I'm spending all my time click, click, clicking them away only to have them come back with the next thing I go to read.

And.......NOOOOOOOOO OOO....I have NOT visited any riskaaaaay places on the net! This is so annoying....it may be an immediate cure to internet addiction!

Saber, I don't think Bobby uses any popup ads here. I just turned my popup killer off and I'm getting nothing at all. I'll leave a link for this little freeware program I use in case you want to download it. No Ads (http://www.southbaypc.com/NoAds/)

You have to add each ad to it so at first it seems a pain but it isn't long until you have a good list and there isn't much popping anymore. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Follow-up on the ads...

We don't employ ANY pop-up ads on GOPUSA. In fact, our only &quot;pop-up&quot; window is our survey, which is scheduled to pop-up only about once per month.

If you are getting pop-up ads when you visit the GOPUSA web site, you may have some kind of virus running on your machine that you picked up from another web site or e-mail. You might want to check on that.

Congratulations to Dr. Eberle on his first successful State Editor's meeting. I am hoping to make the next one with sufficient advanced warning.

I agree on pop-up adds, they drive me nuts, especially the ones that come back every 10 seconds. Some software developer needs to develop a virtual Pop-up gun to shoot down pop-ups, then it will be more like an arcade. :turquoiserolleyes:

I know that GOPUSA doesn't have pop-ups, nor do some of the others I frequent, yet today I'm getting them everywhere I go....in multiples!!! IN FACT, while I've been typing this post, I've gotten two more that have interrupted my typing. I do run ACTIVE McAfee and always do the updates. Funny, though, today I had another update that I tried to do TWICE and both times my whole machine froze up and I had to restart. I'm a computer idiot and have not a clue how to investigate viruses...I'll have to call in a &quot;chip&quot; to a computer guru I know! LOL

THANKS Terri for the &quot;No Ads&quot;. I think I just may have to do that to at least treat the symptom. There is one site that I go to that has recently stated that they are going to be having pop-ups, and they do....could I have contracted something from there?

Evening all. Well, one more Monday down, only 6 more until summer! It wasn't too bad, either. I did have a long, boring department meeting, however. That's one thing I miss about being in the corporate world - they really know how to have an efficient meeting, unlike beaurocrats.
